Secondary Name Node (SNN) in Hadoop takes snapshot of Name Node and is available for switchover in case of main Name Node failure. Manual switchover to SNN required.

it consist o a copy of all logs and files of name node so in case if primary name node fails , when there i a switch over they can access info from secondary name node...

RK sir you rock man. First time I understood something without watching another tutorial on same topic. I had one suggestion. If possible make links in the video that you can use to move back and forth to the key concepts. As an example if I want to listen about "input splits" again I can click the link to go to time 52:00 on the video for it. Thank you so much for a great tutorial.

I always felt a nap when try to learn new things initially and even that things may be of my interest I felt boring. This is so because the presenter never or hardly explain what he/she wants to explain. This time I completed two consecutive sessions without a single nap and with all my interests and curiosity. I am sure if this video goes long for 4 hours in one go I, even in that case, would not leave it till end.

If I am not wrong ,As per hdfs architecture Name node will not talk to data nodes.. Data node will always ping (Heart beat) to Name node
1)HDFS uses heartbeat messages to detect connectivity between name and data nodes
    HDFS heartbeats:
Several things can cause loss of connectivity between name and data nodes. Therefore, each data node sends periodic heartbeat messages to its name node, so the latter can detect loss of connectivity if it stops receiving them. The name node marks as dead data nodes not responding to heartbeats and refrains from sending further requests to them. Data stored on a dead node is no longer available to an HDFS client from that node, which is effectively removed from the system. If the death of a node causes the replication factor of data blocks to drop below their minimum value, the name node initiates additional replication to bring the replication factor back to a normalized state.
