I now understand how you sign the notepad but how do you sent the signed message without encrypting it ? Because when you uncheck the encrypt for me and the encrypt for others boxes you suddenly can't choose recipient?
That's correct, it's because you don't need to choose a recipient. Choosing a recipient is required only if you are encrypting it for someone. Just copy the (unencrypted) signed message + all the ciphertext and paste it into gmail or something, and send it straight to the recipient. If they have your public key, then then can check your signature. Sorry it took so long to answer.
