I worked at Value Village (Savers' Canadian name) for three years. Heard that complaint at least once a day. Here's the thing: they are partnered with Diabetes Canada. Any donation that comes in, whether dropped off directly to them or brought in via truck by Diabetes Canada, gets weighed and DC gets paid accordingly so they can continue to do what they do. It's corporate that decides the price range so the pricers have extremely limited control over how cheap or expensive things are. And of course, us cashiers had no control whatsoever on pricing then routinely get the brunt of the complaints. The amount of times I've wanted to say "What? You think we're volunteers here?" We gotta get paid somehow. I eventually left because the amount of theft I was seeing was getting ridiculous and I was tired of dealing with grumpy customers. Seriously, you work retail or food service for any length of time and you will come to LOATHE the statement, "the customer is always right" VERY quickly.

Just the other day I had a Oui yogurt, they have a tin foil lid glued to a glass jar. Just my thumb brushing over it was enough to peel the lid [I was trying just to brush up the larger spot to grab it] and I literally could not force myself to eat it. It didn't look like it had spilled [which I guess it should've in the bag?] nor did it look disturbed in anyway, but I just was like "I'd rather not take the risk of getting sick, idk if that clear liquid is the natural yogurt stuff or spit" so I tossed the entire container, which sucks being a $2 yogurt buuuut I'd rather not assume it was just a lack of glue and fine and get sick than to assume it was opened and toss it. [Also, even if no one tampered with it, it had a broken seal which leads to other issues anyway so better safe than sorry!]

      1. It's a steam deck, it's no different than bringing a laptop. In fact, it's not so different than bringing a phone. Calling it an entire gaming set is kinda stretching it. I carry exactly the same stuff for work: a Laptop, a Keyboard, a Mouse and a Headphone
      2. The wife is sleeping, and they already planned this through. The wife already knows about this. The story is incomplete and you can look it up. Post Pregnancy care can take hours if not the entire day and all that are usually just waiting for Anaesthetics to wore down, the Mom to get her IV drips and medications, and for the baby to be declared stable and healthy.
Should the dude bring more context to this? Yeah... He worded the post really "apathetically" but that's a clear sign that this person really don't like small talks and embellishing stuff.. and that's probably why he enjoyed playing games more than using his phone. Mans a bit prude, but he's clearly caring for his wife
Not everyone have the same way on entertaining themselves. Besides, with the phone, mans gonna wear headphones anyway. What you gonna do with a phone that doesn't bring up noise? Just chattng random people? His tone is clear that he doesn't like that
And there's definitely more trashy behavior tham bringing a portable gaming console on your wife's post pregnancy care. Like, idk, leaving her alone in the hospital while you're at home for example. And trust me, you don't need to be a "gamer" to do that

However they only get worth that much IF the card is in good condition. The company I worked for graded solely on the presentation of the card itself so they used a software that detected edges for crispness, corners for sharpness, centering for balance, and surfaces free of blemishes. The lower the condition of the card, the lower the score and the lower the value.

Just cause of the “Jim from dairy” line I had to say: as someone who is the manager of a dairy department in a grocery store I’ve had many stockers I’ve had to manage. The worst was this girl who was LITERALLY always late. And would often leave early. And I don’t mean 5-10 minutes late. I mean like 30minutes - 2 hours late everyday. Then would complain all day about she struggles for money and how her husband is always mad about money and stuff. Now don’t get me wrong grocery stores aren’t known for being a high paying job. But I couldn’t help but be frustrated that she was being scheduled 28 hours but would work like 10 then complain she didn’t get paid enough. But when stuff expires or gets damaged we hafta scan it out. Well when SHE would find it expired or damaged she would eat it or if it was like milk she would pour it into her coffee cup and drink it. Now I hate wasting stuff but drinking curdled and expired milk or peeling a brick of cheese like a potato to get the outer layer of mold of so you can eat the inside with slightly less mold… that was to much for me 😬

If you have milk and cheese so long they curdle or show mold you _really_ suck at your job. Those things are unfit for human consumption days before that happens, and the expiration dates are set WELL before that. The visible parts of cheese mold are not the parts with the toxins in them and take a few days after the mold has set in before you can see them, and everyone knows milk goes sour weeks before it actually starts to curdle (or days if it's unrefrigerated).

@@Bacteriophagebs that is true but when the seal on them is broken before we receive them or they send them to us with issues already they get bad way way way quicker. There are many reasons stuff like that happens one brand we receive is known to be bad with their dates and their seals break very easily which cause them to just go bad way beyond faster. And maybe not curdled but like separated is the proper word.

I literally have all my Amazon/online store packages delivered, not to my door, but to the office of the factory I live in, full of strangers from a boomer-filled Portuguese town and I witness more honor than what I see in these porch pirates in the US.

I worked at Wal-Mart years and years ago. They have these fully cooked hot rotisserie chickens, which used to be $5.99. I swear, once every couple of months I would find one stashed in the candy at the checkout isle with just the legs missing. I believe I figured out who it was though I didn't have concrete proof, but they'd grab one of the hot chickens, eat nothing but the legs (sometimes wings) while shopping, and then ditch the rest of the bird in the candy when checking out. What an absolute trashy thing to do, and what a waste of food.

I used to work at a goodwill, and the DM always forced people to act like family, even in the back where no one saw and especially if the employees didn't like eachother, the store managers treat the assistant managers like shit, are the only ones who like the district manager, and act nice to employees when they're two faced. they make you say the repetative line "thank you for changing lives through the power of work" and get mad when you haven't memorized it within a week of working there. they actively make employees jobs harder with needless moves for "productivity" in the donation part of the store which just inconvinience literally everyone in the back including sorters, managers, stockers, and the people who take donations from customers. the store managers lie cheat and steal and threaten employees jobs if they tell. this isn't even half the list because the store and district managers are shit, this comment would take over an hour to share everything else there is, I have 0 respect from goodwill and so does an old manager who got fired and called the store manager the worst manager he ever had because she would always stand around on her phone leaving the work for the assistent managers. fuck goodwill and fuck myself for ever wanting to work there

3:44 Infants indeed need to "have a ticket" but in reality it appears as an "add-on" on the adult who is carrying them, for example, in the interface that the people at check-in work at, it appears as
    1. ADT Doe/Ms Jane (inf Doe / Mstr JohnDoB 2023-01-01) 2. ADT Doe / Joseph
or something like that depending on the GDS

I work in a Deli in a small chain of stores. People come in and eat the food we prepare and leave it on the self right after all the time. some times they take a whole can of beans and eat it in the bathroom...
