Simple yet Powerful Gold Farm for Minecraft [Fun Farms 31]
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 ноя 2024
- Today we have 31st Episode of Fun Farms, where we discuss how easy can be to build an efficient gold farm using turtle egg mechanics.
Gold became very important as of 1.16 since you can trade it for all sorts of important good like quartz, gravel or obsidian.
It turns out its very easy to get a maximum pigmen XP farm providing 90.000 drops/h using this very basic premise.
Farm should work in any version that supports turtles (honey can be replaced with haybales or beds), but download is in 1.16.

I love that you're not only like "Hey I've got a farm, here's the tutorial". You actually explain why your farm is so great and show other alternatives and explain how everything works.
that's exactly what this series is.
His farms are original and I love that.
He is not like the other RUclipsrs that just steals someones hard work and shows how to build it without even knowing what it is.
Thanks captain obvious
yes but we don´t really need that

At least it wasn't an entire video appealing to a fad by shoehorning relevance into scheduled content.
You made my day. I laughed at that myself.
should've said epidemic, also would make more sense in this situation

I like how we are basically bartering the piglins the corpses of their ancestors
We, as technical Minecraft players, commit mass genocide to harness the rescources in mob's corpses. We enslave sentient villagers, forcing them to breed and shoving thier offspring into booths to be zombified and cured over and over to give us more profit. We use massive industrial machines to destroy entire regions in worlds to allow us to maximize our genociding.
*There are no ethics in the world of blocks, pertimeters, and enslaved creatures to be murdered. There is only the morale compass of one single god-like being; us.*
Flapjackpants lol basically
To put it simply: We are scamming them. Lol.
@@maxwellli7057 that's THE perfect explanation
Pretty sure piglins actually are afraid of zombie piglins, so I guess it all works out in the end.
Thank you so much for the tech details, you got a sub.
anecdote: I spent several hours and resources working on a nether roof bedrock breaking method, and came out frustrated because the other (very well respected) tutorial author didn't mention that block updates sometimes depend on chunk loading / updates (my bedrock block was directly adjacent to a chunk edge), and that's a super frustrating detail to leave out. I got it working in one shot with another guy's video but that's beside the point. I've built mumbo, skippy, ray, k1 and wattles tools to name a few, as well as many others. They're all good for some aspects. Super heads up to wattles, because his builds have always worked for me and been super cheap. I only found your own channel today.
When you include tech details like you did, it manages the "why" and not just the "how" and I think that's commendable. A gold farm is literally my next project in survival, because I can't keep up with powered rails any other way. Your video helps anyone deconstruct your construction and modify it to as large, small, or however constrained their build area might be. Thanks again. :)
edit: for emphasis - if anyone reading this ever builds a farm or redstone structure that doesn't work even though you built it exactly perfectly... examine your chunk boundaries. They don't usually matter, but for super compact farms, they can affect your block update subticks, and break intricate structures. If this edit saves even one person a few hours, it was worth typing.
Did not save me..
how about duping powered rails?
@@ks-yl9ed I guess we all have our own set of "rules" about what we will and won't do. I have never considered duping anything in my survival world, and while I guess breaking the bedrock to get on the roof is just as much an exploit as anything, it still feels OK to me since there was a massive amount of work that went into making the gold farm and it feels legit to me. If that makes sense.
You should talk to Mojang about using your "Pigmen" nickname for the Zombified Piglins. It's got a really nice ring to it.
Yeah😂😂
Wow thats quite clever! It would be nice if this ‘Pigmen’ name was used

@@grampyrick4356 because this game is powered by magic , not even mojang know how it works :)
Without gnembon I wouldn't know a thing about the mob spawning algorithm, chunk loading, experience intake, villager breeding, or literally any farm because gnembon provides an in-depth explanation of every farm in a way that is hard to find elsewhere. There are countless technical genuises but gnembon's content has probably created more. I started by just wanting to know how to build a guardian farm but know I know how all sorts of farms work. Thanks gnembon!

You could just read the minecraft wiki.
@@thefunnybuddy4138 the minecraft wiki is pretty shallow and very out of date, while gnembon will explain most of the mechanics that are relevant to each farm, in a concise and comprehensive package which isn't easy to get just by scouring the wiki.
And knowing 'how' it works, you can come up with your own design or play around with the designs from the geniuses without messing too much with rates.

I love how elegant and minimalist all of your designs are. Rather than create a six second hopper timer, you use this inverse pressure plate signal that triggers the dispenser to precisely shoot the next ingot onto the pressure plate just in reach of the piglin. I love it!
The elegance of gnembon's farms is astounding. Considering metrics like how buildable it is and what the server load is like make them stand out already - then adding in mobcap calculations and other variables which seem to have escaped most of us? I consider them art.

I always love seeing the newest farm you have. And I love that by the end of the video I don't know just how to build it, but I understand how it work too.
Thank you Gnembon. Amazing farm. The most awesome thing about it is the high-capacity collection system. I tore out the old collection system at my wither skeleton farm, and installed this one instead. I was never able to afk there because all the stone swords would just clog everything up very quickly. Now with this setup, I can afk here for hours and collect boxes full of wither heads (now I just need to figure out why I need so many... :^)
I just tested the farm that doesn't give XP (the one with turtle eggs) in the pre-release 2 that broke most gold farms and it works perfectly, thanks again gnembon :)
Theblakerbrown, he said no in the comment. “the farm that doesn’t give XP”
one thing you can do in survival mode without access to the world file is hold down F3+A, which causes the terrain to constantly reload, and become invisible (if your computer is fast enough, at least)
this way, you can see mobs (and maybe particles), so you can tell which areas you need to spawn-proof
(This might only work with optifine; I haven't tested it without)
Nice! Your videos are some of the highest quality on youtube.
I just love your style, thanks for hooking us up with all these awesome farms - we've got your "simple" iron farm running in our spawn chunks, and the entire community has next to unlimited access to iron :) Can't wait to build this one, too!
30:22 I'll be honest, I didn't believe you when you said that'd be easy at first, then I tried building it and had it exactly as you did in all of 30 seconds. Thanks for explaining that so clearly.
This is where the hopper minecarts get placed in, and the tutorial starts at 28:17 for anyone else who watched the whole video and then needed to get back to this part
So glad you made this tutorial, since Mojang actually said they do plan on patching out the player drop/xp aggro bug fairly soon, so I was specifically looking for a farm that doesnt use that mechanic
Thanks for the great video, I love that you explain the small details in the game mechanics, it helps when I want to design my own farms or modify other peoples farms to my purposes. Your videos are so much better than all the millions of block by block tutorials on youtube that have no explanation of the mechanics being used (one questions if those doing the tutorials understand the mechanics of why they are made the way they are ).

If you decide to build this, check that the redstone part is in ONE chunk (just in case). Also, build this farm ONTOP of a LAVA LAKE like gnem said, it's a pain in the back to spawnproof if you decide to build it somewhere else (trust me, i didn't do this ontop of a lava lake, spawnproofing was..). Gnembon: It's best not to rely on bugs and glitches
Also Gnembon: We'll build this farm on top of the nether
Well, I didn't mention you should break the bedrock to get there - only phase throught the bedrock. If you don't want to use enderpearl, you can always use a minecart that would place you in the bedrock block if it doesn't have any other place to place you onto.
Plus in 1.15 plus portals can connect to the nether roof
Actually that isn't a big or glitch. Given the devs have decided that roof portals link properly, the nether roof is now intended.

In regards to the magma blocks retaining lightlevels in eralier versions of the game, that was actually a bug and never an inteded feature. See the bugreport [MC-102162]
Really great job. I agree. TnT duping and a lot of the other mechanics that have come recently basically make mob farms stupid easy. Like villager trading right now is such a joke it's ridiculous. I don't want books for 1 emerald but anything else is just not optimal. It's frustratingly easy.
Mob farms have always been easy, there’s always been pressure plates and pistons, lavablades, etc. These new mechanics just make farms faster. I personally don’t like nether portal based farms unless they require update suppression to break certain blocks for certain reasons, because then it’s interesting but still, the challenge is finding the most optimal way to build a farm, and they’re various ways to do that now
i can confirm this works on 1.20.4

I wanted something easy to build in survival where I could AFK a couple of hours and get enough gold to make a lot of rails in my SP world and so following the information you provided I chose the farm that doesn't provide XP. It required some grind to get the resources and it takes a bit of time to build but it's dead simple and not even finished it already provided me with 1 stack and a half of gold blocks just Afking during 1 hour at dinnertime.
It works wonderfully and can be made by anyone having reached the nether.
Most underrated minecraft youtuber 👍👌
It is looking like the explored chunks will become the Nether Wasteland when 1.16 is fully released, so this design should work later on if it is built now in 1.15.2. Enchanting is fairly early/mid game, and not much use late game. So I would modify the collection of the Rotten Flesh for Cleric Trades, and have the Gold Swords fed into an auto-smelter for more Gold Ingots and a xp battery. Late game uses would mainly be for Mending, and collecting items for Crafting, Bartering, and Trades
I think gold swords are probably one of the best "junk item" to smelt for XP.
Well, its kinda obvious that already generated biomes stay the same biome. That has been the case ever since release. I mean, if you regenerate your 1.12 map right now with the exact same seed, it wont be the same map because 1.13 altered quite a lot of generation factors.
It would be very strange to change biomes on already generated lands. Imagine having generated a desert and it being turned into a mooshroom island because of new biome generation. You'd suddenly have a desert filled with mooshrooms, no husks and you can fill it up with ice and snow all you want without it melting. It kinda breaks the vanilla game if you swap out already generated chunks.
@@Predated2 That is another reason why I am holding off exploring new chunks before the 1.16 update, as I do not go in and Prune my old chunks.
@@Predated2 Yes I think biome corruption used to be a thing in Beta, I have an old map where biomes got changed.
Can you do a compendium style video about item transportation in the nether? Like show all the piston designs used instead of water streams? There's no single complete video collection about them, but they get more and more important with each nether update and more and more potent with e.g. honey blocks.
Yes indeed! And maybe you could also include a way to get items from your farms via the nether to your base involving chunk loading machines like you guys have on scicraft
Well you could build an obsidian farm. Ray's work has one which produces 7.2k obsidian per hour, which use intended game mechanics.
@AARON NIYAZOV ok... Where? And also when there is no better solution I wouldn't be complainting especially given I am getting obsidian at that rate for relatively simple farm, if it's unreliable I check on it every 5 minutes. I don't lose anything from afking at a farm which took me 3 hours to build if I have a semi decent nether fortress farm.
Did you check the latest one? I belive it is the first one to use obsidian platform instead of nether portal
@AARON NIYAZOV is it really relying on the obsidian farm if its to make one or two builds? You can probably get enough obsidian after a few hours...

@@draco894 Nothing. Just a possibility.
They could change how Zombie Piglins spawn... However that would mean a whole rewrite to their spawn rules on both platforms (Java and Bedrock), a rebalancing of the other mobs that spawn in their biomes to compensate for the change. Trust me Mojang is perfectly happy with how Z. Piglins are... The one request from the Bedrock community is to move their Agro in line with Java mechanics (23 blocks instead of 10 blocks on turtle eggs, and 128 blocks instead of the 20 blocks for player combat agro).
@@draco894 bruh I don't care about any of that stuff that you just said. All I meant was that its possible for them to add new mobs or new biomes or change something with the nether that would interfere with the current spawning mechanics.

as someone that started programming in java mainly because of minecraft and especially the technical side of it the part where you showed the egg search algorithm interested me.
But how exactly did you get that piece of code? I didn't think that the sourcecode was public
The farm really is astonishing, thanks for creating and showing this design and keep up the great work
I heard somewhere (don't know if it's true though) that he has access to the source code (close relationship with one/some of the programmers).
Otherwise, you can use a java decompiler, although all classes and variables can be jumbled and have weird names just so you can easily check the source code. Meaning it would take a long time to find what you're actually looking for. But since his example shows variable names that actually make sense he probably does have access to the source code.
Also as a side note, although not very common it's not unheard of that technical players or big modders have access to the source code of the original game (Factorio has at least shared their source code with one big modder).
Since minecraft 1.15 Mojang releases the mappings to deobfuscate the source code, you can find a link to them in the version folder, into the json file of each version.
@@senth4207 so i did decompile it but like you said all the names for methods and so on are jumbled so its rly difficult to add meaning to it. And i wasnt able to find a public sourcecode

Hey gnembon, I built this farm and it worked great! Then I perfected the spawn proofing (I was bored and wanted a menial task) and the farm got crazy! The pigmen die from cramming at a pretty good rate if you're not actively killing them, which means you can get the passive xp the popular farm design gives! It's a cool bonus!
"Today we have 31th Episode of Fun Farms"...
thirty-oneth episode, you had one job gnembon.
Jk love you!
Lol, the grindstones negate the “3 stooges” effect.
Lol
Timestamp for myself. (placing the hopper minecarts) 28:15
Build this farm many times already. But i always need to check the tutorial for the hopper-minecarts lol.
Your comment is also helping others (just used it :P ) Thank you haha
does this mean that it'll worj in my 1.19.2 world? i dont wanna think abt building this unless ik itll work in 1.19.2
@@jelly_randomstuff9614 Unless you are playing on a server. This design will pretty much always work.
But on servers it will not work because of the mob cap. On servers, build Ilmango's portal based farm instead. Because that ignores the mob cap.
holy crap what a farm. works SUPER WELL TYSM!!!! how are you so smart to make this farm... great farm
You are the best Gnembon. An absolute practical genius.
for the people playing in 1.17+ the cobwebs should be replaced with powdered snow for better results
How about trying to make a viable slime farm in swamp biome, I think it’s quite overlooked as it is so it would be a simple yet decent alternative to a slime chunk based slime farm
I don't feel like there's any point.
1.You'll have to find a way to get rid of all other mob spawn possibilities which makes it a lot harder. (is it even possible? Light level should be 7 or less)
2.You'll still need to light up every cave around.
3.Even if you'll make one, will it be as effective as slime chunk one? I doubt it just based on Y level (50-70 for swamp spawns).
4.There's also moon dependency nonsense :
`In swamps, slimes may spawn at night between the heights of 50 and 70 when the provided light level is 7 or less. They spawn most often on a full moon, and never on a new moon. Slimes spawn in the normal swamp, but not in any variants.
More precisely, the game checks two factors:
If the light level is equal to or less than a random integer (from 0 to 7)
If the fraction of the moon that is bright is greater than a random number (from 0 to 1)`
- text from Minecraft wiki.
Sooo...what's the point then...
@@eshku the point wasn’t the practicality it was a question of possibility but yeah ig sorta redundant
I made this farm exactly as he did in 1.16.2 but I have noticed that only on the top row are the pigpen are actually going for the egg. This happening to anyone else?
Same for me...
Same here, were you able to come up with a fix?
The reason only the top pigmen are going is because they have enough space to jump on the egg, whilst I noticed that the others don't and and that's why they are not going for it.
As for a fix... increase the space between the eggs?
He doesn't explain it in his video but mine was doing the same and I think the solution is to remove every other egg BUT to also remove the glass from beneath the egg that you remove to make sure the piglins see the egg. Only took seven months but hopefully someone will see this when they have the same problem
happy to see i was on the right track with my design, just need more floors and now i know how to make the drop chute better! Thank you so much, I think this is the 3rd major farm I've found your video the most helpful for! (blaze and guardian were the other 2)
Some good ideas when I reset my nether realm. Will definitely give this one a shot.
i would apreciate instead of maths, having got the measurments for the farm
Download in the desc.
Somehow the Zombified Piglins dont get aggressive if there is a block beneath the egg. If I remove the block they get aggressive but dont jump down. Can anyone help me?
Having the same issue
put a glass block beneath the egg. there needs to be blocks for them to pathfind to. the egg needs to have 3 blocks of air above it too, and pigmen from one layer can see the egg from a layer below it
“The middle one sucks the most” me as a middle child... ;(
Here from all the hermits giving you shout outs all the time and let me say you got a new sub my friend
Gnembon clearly has an other view than me on what is simple in minecraft :)
Is there an actual tutorial in this for like the dimensions and all the small details
Just use the world download
@@xoocit it is another gold farm in the tutorial
@@Banis_ I did check put the wd, the that is named with looting shall be the donut shaped gold farm
Can Someone make a tutorial for the Farm, I found it quite hard trying to build it from the images, thanks :)
Has anyone actually done a tutorial for the farm?
theres a world download
@@zenthichutt7071 Doesn't have the XP version in it though. Can only find the drops based farm.
@@Cazski2399 I believe there are two world downloads in the Drive link. I downloaded the XP version.
Just did a tutorial😁
A great design, my top two floors work flawlessly. Although on the rest of the floors the pigmen don’t get aggro to the turtle eggs, causing mob cap to rise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My system was getting choked by rotten flesh due to the shear amount of the stuff but with your system it sorts it out, thanks alot bro.
4 years, and so far this farm is still looking really good. Made the mistake of building another farm and I wish I'd built this one. I've been engineering around it's design for a few years, but my attention is needed elsewhere in my world. It's my own fault, I knew this one was around. I've used Carpet mod for 7 or 8 years. Now I want to just tear down my old one. If you want to future proof your build and want the XP with the gold, this one is the one to go with. If you don't need the xp, at least look at gnembons other build as well.
