This saved me. All the shops say they are too busy to change a bulb.
Great Video. And remember folks not to touch the bulb itself with your fingers. The oils from your fingers will shorten the life of the bulb as they do get very hot. repairED was very careful not to touch the bulb. I use a pair of latex gloves just in case of any contact.
I really appreciate this as a woman in the process of divorce. I’ve always had someone to lean on to help me so for someone who’s learning how to do this, its greatly appreciated!

If you have big hands like me, I found that it really helps to just go ahead and take a few minutes to remove the battery. It gives you way more room to work with. Also, after reading several comments on multiple videos, using pliers on the housing to turn it makes it way easier to remove the bulb.
I tried using pliers and the whole thing crumbled like dust... Then I tried to remove the entire headlight hoping to get access to it... Bottom bolt is stripped... I think I'm screwed...
Excellent, helpful, clear. The only thing I'd add is that the level of rust on the more internally cramped of the two sides of the car can make extraction of the bulb very difficult.

Great video. My bulb was stuck, used hand, wrench and almost gave up, until I used a Motorcycle Shock Spanner, made it easy without damaging the tabs or bulb. Replaced bulbs with SuperBrightLed H13-HLV4 bulbs. Removed the old red gasket, lubed the new gasket and success.

Those motherjammers did not want to come loose. Actually I still haven't gotten them out to be exact.

After a long a battle, I found using 2 screwdrivers as leverage to twist the connector is the simplest way since there is not much space to maneuver. When you are looking straight down at the connector there is a space on both sides of the connector to feed the screwdrivers and maintain a strong enough grip to twist (using leverage from the screwdrivers) the connector loose. Hope this helps.
Michele Trichilo I first tried with my hands and the space is too tight. I then used some pliers and it took less than five minutes.

This is what I ended up doing after a long battle as well. wish I saw your comment before i started! I used two screwdrivers, tucked them into the corners of the tabs and then i used them to apply forward pressure (push them towards front of vehicle) while applying a knocking motion (not a continual force). My car was VERY difficult to get them out/in and this knocking motion with the screwdrivers is what worked.

This is easy. Why won't someone do a video on replacing the headlight bulb for a HYBRID, where they moved the battery directly behind the connector on the driver's side so there's no room to pull the connector out?
You have to take the battery out poor design however 1 of Fords better vehicles
I have a 2012 Ford Escape. The headlight burnt out. I replaced it easily after watching the video.
This is also the same procedure for 2008 to 2011 Mercury Mariner btw.
Thank you I had some led bulbs that were just high low and I replaced them after I watched this video with new led those have high low now so I won’t blind other driver out and get cussed by thanks

There are two signal bulbs along with the headlamp bulb in these Ford escapes. You did not explain in your video how to change the side blinker bulb!
I'm not sure what vehicle you're working on, maybe it's the V6 but my V4 is nothing like this. The signal light is outside of the drivers side headlight. I can get the headlight bulb out no problem, but I can' even see where the signal bulb screws in from the back. I even took the battery out to try and get a better angle - nope.

I swear it is NOT this easy lol. You made this look like a cakewalk. I don't have large hands, pretty nimble and sleek, and still there was a PAINFUL battle with the amount of room that does not exist. Not to mention this video actually doesn't reflect what's under the hood for all models. For instance I just tried to do this on a Tribute hybrid 08 and the HARDER one is actually the one you called the easiest. lol. It's a completely different set up with NO room at all and its a death trap for the hands. You have to actually unscrew 3 different things on the passenger headlight and actually pull the entire headlamp out to reach that bulb and connector. HOWEVER on my model it is so old that it broke apart while twisting. The old bulb is sealed in so tight that it's impossible to remove with everything in the way. I had to give up actually. A power tool may be needed to unscrew the last thing that holds my headlamp in. Cannot remove the old bulb on that side. However if it wasn't stuck and broke a piece off it would be easy and already done. Warning to all hands. All the parts in the way have left me with knicks and cuts and swelling on my wrists. No fun this one.

It comes out eventually but I needed pliers. It feels hopeless but make sure to use the force on turning not on squeezing. If not careful you will break the bulb.
What happens if you take the red rubber circle off the bulb to spin it in. Please reply

I could not twist the bulbs out of the sockets , did anyone else have this problem?
I think you have to press down on a pin to disconnect the socket.
The bulb in the house twists but I don't think it's a full turn, just a quarter or half.

For me it’s always been tough to get that clip off. I turn the light first, take the light out of the housing and after it’s out I take the clip off.

Having trouble pressing the pin and getting connector off, and having trouble twisting the bulb out. Nothing is working, and I am sure if I continue, I will break the plastic pin or the plastic twist tabs.. nothing is working. That thing don’t want to leave

If anybody has a vehicle with headlights that were stuck like mine just grab a pair of pliers and then just crank it and it will come on loose because I was watching 1000 of these videos trying to figure out why is everybody’s so smooth but mine

Good advice but it just didn't work for me. My hands would simply not fit in that tiny space and I did wind up taking out the battery to do it. Not so bad. Only takes a couple of minutes to yank it out.

Juan Carlos I know it's a bit old but be careful with pliers. You do not want to damage where the socket plugs in. Turn the opposite way first to loosen it up. Then use both hands to turn.
The video he showed here was the easy side. The other side required two hands for me

In my 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid Limited the left headlight connection is right in front of the battery. The battery has to be removed to change the headlight bulb.
I have a 2008 Hybrid -I can get to mine without taking the battery out. Tight space but it can be done.

Yeah Ford and Madza suck. Everytime I try to change anything on these cars its never easy always a huge hassel. This video was helpful but the shitty ford design is the worst possible way to have access to these lights. Cant get the bulb out at all. Really never buying another ford ever again. Suggest you do the same. Family of ford drivers for 40 plus years or more. And im so sick of their shitty designs. Make it easy to change my lightbulbs how hard is that?

I really thought I was going to save time considering you're only 4 minutes and the other people were like 13 15 minutes to tell me how to change a lightbulb it's ridiculous so I guess I'm going to have to go to one of those people

For those wondering its counter clockwise for the headlight bulb. Use a plumbers pliers or regular pair of plyers if stuck like mine was. A lot easier.
