    I love CDs 💿. They sound better. Even with lossless files the CD format which is lands and pits on an aluminum layer gets turned into ones and zeros which does alter the sound in my opinion.
    CDs sound warmer and more open. The instrument separation and sound stage has more room to breathe.

      it's about DAC inside of your player (if you use analog output) and quality of your amplifier, it absolutelly doesn't matter if it's basic CD, CD with golden layer or something, it's just placebo effect. The most important thing is quality of master which is the main problem in these days because of loudness war, all today CDs sound terrible and it's kind of pointless to buy them, it's better to buy even MC cassette if it's available or (the best option) vinyl where they can't do loudness war because it's physically impossible to compress and normalise loudness like that on vinyl.

    The answer is yes. All other issues aside, and including using a Playstation, DVD/CD players, it comes down to this: If you're listening to music through Apple or other sources that keep and control the audio files, then you are RENTING music. You do NOT own it. I still buy and use CDs. Any audio files I've paid and downloaded, I copy to an external drive, and burn to CD. That way no one can take it from me. Own your own music, don't rent. This means having to have a CD player of some sort, unless you're okay with poor audio quality.

    Fantastic device. Bought a used one from 2014 (with Wolfson DAC) some weeks ago and it was used only for some hours before. Now it is well played in, opened up and I really can't believe how good it now sounds - via RCA to my Cambridge amp. Speakers are Dali Oberon 3 and a Mivoc Sub. I know that this fantastic DAC was replaced in 2018 but I was very lucky to get the original. Beats all my vintage CD players from Marantz, Technics and Sony which cost up to ten times more in the past Thanks Onkyo, very well done !

    Interesting.. Like the multiple adhoc way of your setup.. Nice demo . You helped me out with considering buying the Onkyo .. The females seemed like they were trying to sound like Destiny Child.. Either way man keep on groovin.. I have an old Yamaha system with a JVC back up. Those Klipsch of yours were tight.

    It’s worth it too me! I love CDs. I just got the Onkyo DX-C390 which is basically the same thing in 6 disc changer form. I score this thing open box from Best Buy for $125 with a 4 year geek squad warranty. I’m loving this thing. It sounds great.

      It depends, there are too many factors in PC that you can change, like different sounds cards, you can connect it to amplifier with classic jack or digitally, you definitely can get hi-fi sound from PC, today when most of soundcards have SPDIF out and most of amplifiers have difital input it's even easier than it ever was, you just let digital to analog convertion on amplifier and play raw digital data from PC and problem solved.

    I bought the same CD player based on overwhelming reviews, and it truly is astounding. I'm normally a vinyl fan and have several superb turntables. Though it is very fairly priced (I payed less than 200 Euros), this is the first CD player I've heard that kan actually compete with analogue, though I do send it through a small home studio mixer that I use as pre amp and cut off just a pinch of the very top of the midrange frequencees to minimise CD harshness. I also have two different D/A converters, but with this player they are not only unnecessary, they actually degrade the sound from the player's analogue output. I really can't recommend it enough.

      Interesting....I'm looking at the 7030, I run ARCAM separates ..CD..Amp and Wharfedales...like the British smoothness...However my CD 192 Arcam has just thrown the toys out of the cot...it's lunch....asking....Does the ONKYO have that sort of smoothness character about it ?

    I always find these audio equipment videos bizarre. The cd sound is going through speakers into your video cam microphone (degradation in sound = 2 times right off the bat) then becomes a DIGITAL computer file like, with MP3 sound most likely, then played back from the RUclips website, into somebody's crappy laptop speakers.

    • @cs.studios
      @cs.studios  Год назад +2

      I always record my A/B comparison using external mic to an interface not video cam mic. It’s recorded uncompressed WAV then edited into AAC in the video. Yes it gets compressed, but as you can probably tell even on a modern iPhone you can tell there’s a difference. The better speakers/headphones you use the easier it will be noticeable. I’ve found these type of videos useful in the past so I made them hoping it would help someone the same way it had helped me comparing speakers

      Goood video, friend. I enjoyed it, that room is awesome af, congratulations. I hear u wrt the carousel vs single disc, im still deciding as I'd like to have more than one disc play withought the hassle of removing each time one is completed or I heard whatever track on that disc. I feel u wrtt having internet / booting up pc / tv jiustto hear or listen to good quality music, analog from the CD 💿 player sounds more full (more bass especially) compared to FLAC. The external mike recording helped, too.

    Yes and no. Yes for playing old CDs, no for playing today terrible releases with loudness war. Today time is ridiculous, you buy CDs and pay streaming services, but if you want better quality with no loudness war, you have to buy vinyl, then rip it and then burn it on CD if you want to play it as CD. Original CDs sound terrible in these days.
    Another thing I noticed is that old CD players and discmans are much better, you insert CD, press play and it plays in like 2 seconds and it can play even very damaged CDs, it just skips errors. Modern CD players are much slower and can't play damaged CDs for some reason, it just works or it doesn't work at all.
    I recently bought an old Sony discman from 1988 just for fun and I am shocked!!! Not by audio quality, it's just discman, but by that I put CD there, press play and it immediatelly starts playing, like immediatelly, there is NO delay, it's magic!!! Old audio devices are much better.
    I am using blu-ray player for playing CDs, I know it's not literally hi-fi thing, but it's connected digitally to good Yamaha amplifier, so it should be ok. Comfort of playing is not that great as with classic CD player, but it works and I don't need extra standalone CD player just for music.
