    • @hastywasty1457
      @hastywasty1457 8 лет назад +4

      +MrExsasperated no tarrifs and barriers such as customs help costs..but it's not just ..product and service regulations harmonisation reduces costs massively. The access to global markets through existing EU trade deals negotiated over years opens up vast markets abroad. Another major point is Access to EU supply chains this helps business transport and source products services easier. Also investment flows from European wide business has recorded big capital investment...The CBI estimates EU membership could be contributing 4-5% of gdp.

    • @MrExsasperated
      @MrExsasperated 8 лет назад +1

      +hasty wasty That's fine, originally this was the idea of having a common market in 1973, however the original idea has become a political union and entails far more than just trade advantages. Sovereignty, policing, defence, banking, independent free trade, law, fishing quotas, farming...etc not to mention the inability to remove corrupt unelected officials.....and the trade deals will continue without membership, in fact we will be able to negotiate on our own terms with the rest of the world without having to pay fast sums of money to the EU for the privilege. It is scaremongering to suggest that our trade will suffer if we leave, just look at the EFTA countries! The EU is a monster and is heading for a collapse, we should leave before we are swallowed up in the cesspit that it is. Contrary to popular belief there is nothing we can't achieve outside of the EU than in it.

    I've just come across this and the shear lack of knowledge of how the EU works is astounding. It's not a case of paying our membership fee and getting less back (how the hell would that be sensible) we pay our dues and get a brilliant trading arrangement that boosts our economy. As for the moans about fishing quotas we had our fair share and then fishermen sold them off to the Spanish for a nice wedge; you can't complain about quotas you had and then sold. The only people who will benefit from Brexit will be the very rich which is why most were so keen to brain wash the poorer.

    The UK contributes more to the EU than it receives because it has a better than average economy. Nothing wrong with that imo, but to use the argument that the EU helps cornwall as a reason for the UK to stay is disingenuous. If the UK puts in more than it takes out then it could have decided what projects to invest in for the cornish and when the money is invested. Without any small print either.

    The profits therfore go into the same hands. No accountability. No equal distribution. Same old. Same old.
    I have been visiting Cornwall all my life. All i see are wealthy townies from the home counties buying up all the properties and making a killing. I was in Mousehole four weeks ago and it was dead. All the properties were private lets. Very sad.

    Surely if we didn't give so much money to the EU we could spend it on places like Cornwall, the accounts should be available to everyone to see online, how much we pay the EU how much we get back , how much goes on MEP's, how much goes on EU offices etc, etc, etc let's see the figures surely that isn't too much to ask !

    Many fishermen, French or British were always greedy for money without much regard for the fish.
    The fish industry is not about fish it is about Borders as exemplified by the fact that the timber industry is the same economic size as the fishing industry whilst there is no problem about production because it is regulated.
    However in their greed, the fishers built new houses and bought new cars on the back of the raping of the cod stocks in the North Sea. There were no cod to be fished and only regulation rescued it after 20 odd years of laissez faire
    Joining the EU supported regulation which although rightly, made a gross diminution of the fishing industry.
    Now the British have their fishing back there will be the same level of greed as previously unless the Brits regulate that industry. exampleAs an example, the French were not allowed fish the Saint Jack Shells before the month of May according to EU regulations to conserve the species but the English started in March when the young shell fish were not mature enough endangering the species.
    So, there are two issues, 1 Borders and 2 Conservation of stocks.

      +EV docmaker - The destruction of British industry was, and still is, an EEC/EU policy. That this suited Thatcher's vendetta is just a 'happy' coincidence, and accounts for her rabid support for the project until they started going after her 'pet' financial sector.
      The plan has always been to divide the continent into regions (formerly known as countries), with each arbitrarily awarded a sector. Germany (obviously) got the main prize, manufacturing industry, France got the runner-up prize of agriculture, Spain got fishing... and we got 'services'. Basically the City of London - which in reality is an 'offshore island' within Britain's boundaries, rather than a part of it.
      The two things necessary to make this work (in Germany's favour) are the hampering, and eventual destruction, of competing industries in 'unapproved' countries - sorry, regions - and handcuffing us into internal trade by making us uncompetitive on the world markets, chiefly through suicidal regulations and punitive 'green' energy initiatives, and by preventing member states from taking their own seats at the WTO.
      Interestingly, Germany has never been 'encouraged' to move away from coal fired power stations as the rest of us have - gotta love that special 'green' coal they have over there, eh?

    I have the luxury of observing this from a distance, Australia, to be precise. The British people must be so grateful that they have the BBC to provide them with Loving guidance in how to navigate their way through such a bewilderingly difficult decision, now you know the right choice.
    We face effectively the same thing over here in the TPP, I know a more direct comparison would be with TTIP but still it involves off shore, highly centralised and unaccountable power. Just think, some people actually have a problem with that!!
    Well I must be going now, I'm off to my town's cenotaph before it gets dark to leave some flowers because we really ought not forget the almost unimaginable struggle and sacrifice made by generations, really not that long before our own, in the fight against insane tyrants trying to take over the world.

    You want to know why we have incredibly poor income inequality across our cities and villages? because we as a nation dont let them allocate their revenue they generate. If we just gave them the opportunity to have some power to alter corporation tax in their city you'll see a great level of competition across the country, it will increase employment and help remove london from being so powerful.

    they say Cornwall gets funds from the EU. Britain, which includes Cornwall, makes or should I say made,a net contribution of 9 billion pounds a year to the EU. If Britain no longer has to contribute to the EU, there should be more money available to give to Cornwall. It's like a parent giving a child five pounds a week and then the child spending one pound a week on the parent.
