Awesome videos, very helpful, you should try and dive in Portugal, similar to England but with some surprises! All the best
A trick to making your dive gloves last longer is to coat the palms and fingers with 'tool dip', the latex or acrylic they dip the handles of pliers and the like to give better grip and electrical shock insulation. I used to get 20-30 dives out an untreated pair, and am on the same pair 8 years later after treating them. It also helps to keep my hands warm.

Daniel, I am in the process of making a speargun from a blend of woods. Mahogany, Walnut and curly maple (primarily, because I have the extra scrap wood around). I'm planning on shallow water hunting around rocks and the deepest I'd dive would be 8-10 meters of water normally. Q- I've been wondering what triggers you'd recommend for the gun? Hi Daniel, i love you channel! I just thinking could you please share video about your blue water equipment for big fish (buoys, spearguns, ropes, quick connections et cetera)?
You are the best videomaker I found for spearfishing. THANK YOU for all your video. I have difficulty to film my diving expedition. I tried many way, I put go pro on my speargun, on my head. Do you have gear or tips for me?
Started to spearhunt at night about 1 year ago since the fish is very still and we make simple spearguns that just shootout to the tip of the spear (simple to provide foods where we live) Was looking into belt weights and damn impossible to find here and about 10-15 dollar in shipping fee per kilo not even including the coast of the weights. then i was looking into buy small ledweights or even metal without any good coast solution.. What did i do? i filled small bags with coins and put them on my belt (2kg for 3 dollars and they aint much bigger than the ledweights you can buy) best part of living in 3rd world country where the money is worth less than the metal xD
I'm enjoying your videos. My journey has been extremely slow. I bought a speargun in 2003 when I lived in Swanage, Dorset. Can you do a small tutorial for how to wrap your float line up in an efficient way so when I am about to go for my dive i don't have the dreaded pre-dive tangle haha Loving the video's mate.
“Figure eight” wrap. Go up the gun with your line, wrap around the shaft and bring back down the same side of the gun. Wrap around the handle and come up the other side of the gun, wrap around, coming back down again. Rinse and repeat. When you get to the end of your line, clip it back onto itself. Clip your float onto your handle to make it a nice easy bundle to carry with one hand. When you are going diving, unclip the line from itself, pull all the loops down off of the handle. From here don’t touch the line, just pull the shaft out from the other side, attach your float, and swim off. It will unwrap itself in a “figure eight” style, knot-free every single time.
@@DanielMann Oh Ok thank you so very much ! Just to let you know your the reason I freedive today and it has been the most amazing experience in my life I plan to get to doing what you do and do YouTubing on it as well here in the states of USA Florida thank you 🙏
Do U use shark shield and what U think off shark shield ?is it a thing spearfisher men should have or U found them not necessary I'm talking about a spearfishing in a Shoreline of Australia ,👍
I've only ever broken one and that was in Tonga from getting a small cut in the skirt. Leaked on my face but it didn't on Tim's face. So we swapped for the last two days as we both use the micro mask. We both forgot the conjunctivitis I had that week was very contagious and two days back in Australia he had it from wearing my mask!
The Avomine blew me away! I tossed about 15-20 times the other day, thinking I would just get over it or adapt. You would think I learned my lesson... Still, I might cave and dose up next time.
Hej Daniel, first of all... Fuck you are such a great guy and I do enjoy watching your content a lot! Second I moved to Tenerife and start freediving here, totally enjoy and love this... step by step buying more and better stuff. I missed a lil bit the action so a friend introduced the spearfishing topic to me and well... Working on my diving skills and buying my first gun this week. your videos help me so much to understand and prepare better so I have the feeling of even enjoying it from the start! Now swimming with a 20Liter waterproof back and its doing his job. everybody can see me and I can enjoy diving. Could you do a video or describe the proces of how you setting up one session. How long are you in the water? you have some water and snacks with you? thanks mate! cheers D
Thank you for your videos - I’ve learned so much from you and am improving steadily. I’m about to upgrade to DiveR fins. Any reason you went with the red fins?
Another great video Daniel thanks for sharing your kit bag.I have got a smb for when im snorkeling in busy water but i tend to get the line caught around my fins how do i solve this problem please. Thanks for making my day with your latest video.
I bought silicone weight belt on your recommendation and really love it. It stays put and saves me from the lower back pain that results from having my weight belt slide up onto my sacrum. One question though: do you think that big white line around the middle makes you more visible to fish?
Not particularly, when you are shooting a fish it is looking at you front on most of the time and you can’t see the belt because of your shoulders and torso.
@@DanielMann That makes sense, although I imagine they would see you on the descent unless you were dive bombing from directly above. I'm guessing that this is pretty minor in the scheme of things. Thanks.
Hi @daniel Mann I have a pair of Leaderfins in medium stiffness made of pure carbon. I have used them for the last 6 years and have no complaints to them, now I need to replace them with some new ones. Have you ever tried fins similar to those, so that you can make a comparison between them. The reason I ask is that the DiveR have an angel of approx.28 deg. and the Leaderfins have 20 Deg. and that make any differens ???
Ole Sørensen I’ve never tried leaderfins but the bigger angle is better for surface swimming I find. I’ve used some fins with less angle and they hurt my ankles a bit after a long swim.
Great content, thanks for the video! Is there any chance you can provide a link to where we can purchase the detachable drop weight? Ive been looking for anchor i can detach from my belt but i havent found one yet that i like. This one would look great to check out
Im looking to get a speargun im from germany so ill mostly be spearing on trips to the uk or Mediterranean or norway. Im looking to get the slavimar hero 105 or 115. Another option would be the salvimar hero roller 95.. whats your advice? What ive heard is that rollers have less recoil and in murky waters a shorter potentially powerful gun seems quite good
105 is a great all round sized gun for the Mediterranean and Norway. A touch big for most diving in the U.K. Rollers aren’t that necessary for dirty water in Europe, not a a lot of big fish to punch throughz
@@DanielMann thanks a lot!! I was considering the 115 because i know a lot of people use a bit longer guns in the Med. I'll think about it a bit more but thanks a lot for the tip with the roller guns :). Ive never used one and wasn going to get it for the power but rather the reduced recoil everyone is talking about :D but i guess ill manage with the double band :)

Do U use shark shield and what U think off shark shield ?is it a thing spearfisher men should have or U found them not necessary I'm talking about a spearfishing in a Shoreline of Australia ,👍
Agree with that micro mate, think I got mine around 2012. Brought a new well known brand and broke it in 6 months - back to the micro 👍🏻
@@DanielMann lol makes my eyes water thinking about it
The Avomine blew me away! I tossed about 15-20 times the other day, thinking I would just get over it or adapt. You would think I learned my lesson... Still, I might cave and dose up next time.
Love the vids. Could you do more about diving in Aus🇦🇺
Superb! Much appreciated shared knowledge.
I've following your channel and I liked all the videos. Thanks to all spearfishing tips! Stay safe.
Hej Daniel,
first of all... Fuck you are such a great guy and I do enjoy watching your content a lot!
Second
I moved to Tenerife and start freediving here, totally enjoy and love this... step by step buying more and better stuff.
How long are you in the water? you have some water and snacks with you?
thanks mate!
cheers
D
You have to come to Greece...for shopping!
Ok and for fishing!
His been to the Mediterranean.
@@urb6857 I know but he should come again.
Great video. Thanks
Thank you for your videos - I’ve learned so much from you and am improving steadily. I’m about to upgrade to DiveR fins. Any reason you went with the red fins?
Red goes faster.
LOL!
Thanks again for the time you put into teaching others. Please keep posting!
Genuinely great video, love it👍
Another great video Daniel thanks for sharing your kit bag.I have got a smb for when im snorkeling in busy water but i tend to get the line caught around my fins how do i solve this problem please. Thanks for making my day with your latest video.
What is an smb?
Hi Dan it's a surface marker bouy same as your scorpena one. I attach it to my weight belt any advice would be great. Thanks
U really deserve a sponsor
Love you, mate. Such great vids.
Can you post a link for that 1 pound anchor drop weight that clips to your belt? Thx
can’t find short diver fins on their website. they might have stopped making them
I bought silicone weight belt on your recommendation and really love it.
Thanks.
Bro come to indonesia ill take you to karimun jawa island we hunting there.. 🤙
What kind of products do you use for your hair? Because I have kinda hair same as yours and I just coudnt find any product that suits my hair.
Got2b beach matt by Schwarzkopf.
@@DanielMann thanks man. Love your work keep it up.
Well done another good one What do you pack your s guns in ? Protect spear etc pls 👍👍
I use a Sportube hard case, I’ll do a video on travel tips soon.
Ive never used one and wasn going to get it for the power but rather the reduced recoil everyone is talking about :D
but i guess ill manage with the double band :)
