Awesome videos, very helpful, you should try and dive in Portugal, similar to England but with some surprises! All the best
A trick to making your dive gloves last longer is to coat the palms and fingers with 'tool dip', the latex or acrylic they dip the handles of pliers and the like to give better grip and electrical shock insulation. I used to get 20-30 dives out an untreated pair, and am on the same pair 8 years later after treating them. It also helps to keep my hands warm.

Great to see someone who is showing the real side of spearfishing..........ie not brand new gear and things you have put together to suit your needs. Like the drop weight idea. I'm going to get onto that
Dove Northern California for a few years. I was a beginner for a while there and gripped rocks and everything too much, would destroy gloves. The best gloves you can get for cold water (52 deg ) would be 3mm Kevlar gloves... but the trick is to buy a can of plasti-dip and dip the tips of the fingers... They're awesome, trust me!
Always a good day when a Daniel Mann video comes out. Can't wait for you to come over to New Zealand mate, I think you'll like it. I managed to spear a 10kg Kingfish today without even getting in the water! Might have to look at some of this gear to up my game a bit though. Thanks as always mate. Can't stress enough how much I love these videos.
I should say the gun was in the water, I was on land. But yeah, that's not something I ever do otherwise, never even have a loaded gun on the boat or on land. I can understand people being upset but there was zero risk to me of others otherwise I wouldn't have done it.
Finally someone with honest recommendation and being sponsored. Good video thanks mate. We need your word please on Salvimar wetsuit, how good they are. Thanks

Daniel, I am in the process of making a speargun from a blend of woods. Mahogany, Walnut and curly maple (primarily, because I have the extra scrap wood around). I'm planning on shallow water hunting around rocks and the deepest I'd dive would be 8-10 meters of water normally. Q- I've been wondering what triggers you'd recommend for the gun? The length is only an 80... and not looking to break the bank on it.. just curious.
@@DanielMann Funny you say, I do remember the company, very high quality, but the shipping (15-18 days) steered me away. I'm not going in the water any time soon, so I guess it doesn't matter. I appreciate your advice!
Can you do a small tutorial for how to wrap your float line up in an efficient way so when I am about to go for my dive i don't have the dreaded pre-dive tangle haha Loving the video's mate.
“Figure eight” wrap. Go up the gun with your line, wrap around the shaft and bring back down the same side of the gun. Wrap around the handle and come up the other side of the gun, wrap around, coming back down again. Rinse and repeat. When you get to the end of your line, clip it back onto itself. Clip your float onto your handle to make it a nice easy bundle to carry with one hand. When you are going diving, unclip the line from itself, pull all the loops down off of the handle. From here don’t touch the line, just pull the shaft out from the other side, attach your float, and swim off. It will unwrap itself in a “figure eight” style, knot-free every single time.
I've only ever broken one and that was in Tonga from getting a small cut in the skirt. Leaked on my face but it didn't on Tim's face. So we swapped for the last two days as we both use the micro mask. We both forgot the conjunctivitis I had that week was very contagious and two days back in Australia he had it from wearing my mask!
Super cool video again Dan. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I have always wondered what those guns were :) BTW it's bloody hot here in Aus at the moment.
