    Chinese translation:
I asked Bachmeier in Chinese why he most likes studying Chinese. Is it because he likes conversing with Chinese people or is it something else.
Bachmeier in response said he most likes writing Chinese characters. That’s his favorite part of the language because in high school his abilities to write characters were not that good. At Stanford, he’s gotten a lot of practice and really improved at writing characters. So now, he feels like he’s pretty good at writing characters.
I then asked him if he can write in traditional characters. He said he doesn’t write traditional characters, which are the characters used in Hong Kong and Taiwan. He instead writes in simplified characters, which are used in Mainland China. Just because they are easier and also more widely used.
