Excellent video until it tells you to remove the earpiece speaker. completely unnecessary step. I caused damage to the speaker getting it out. after taking a close look I realized I could skip that step and still replace the battery. Otherwise a good step by step process. Follow it, just leave the speaker alone.

Wish I would have read this comment before proceeding . I had to order a speaker. Otherwise excellent video.

@@wildpony1961 yup, fucked up my speaker too. I'd love to say its a great video but when 1 step ruins everything, trhe rest of the video doesn't matter.

Yep. Me too, except I managed to stop half way pulling it apart when I saw some wires I shouldn't have.

I was able to replace the battery without touching the speaker, camera, or removing the mother board and its associated connectors. Helpful video, but maybe a little overboard on how deep you have to go into disassembly to get the battery out.

This repair is so easy following this video. I used a torx 5, not a 4, but everything was very easy and took about an hour and a half, including gathering tools, etc.

they obviously want you to buy another phone

Right? I don't understand why it has to be so freaking difficult. They are basically making disposable phones now. Once the battery starts going, time to buy a new one.

This is BS, getting real sick of having to purchase a brand new phone every couple of years cause these damn phone companies want more profit! And considering how much repair places charge, might as well buy another phone cause it'll cost the same. got me drove cause I KNOW those greedy asses can manufacture phones that last longer.😠😠😠

Helpful video... except when the hands are blocking the view of critical steps.

Why was the adhesive removed at the end, as opposed to heating it back on? Will there be a moisture concern after it's been removed?

I believe that they actually left out a step at that part of the video. If you pause the video at 00:34, you can see "Premium 2mm Red Adhesive Roll". This is actually a double-sided adhesive roll I found on their site for $5. What we see at 09:16 is the technician removed one side of the double-sided adhesive. Meaning, that the adhesive was replaced instead of removed or re-heated/used.

Apparently Motorola designed them to do this at around two years old. Mine is doing the same. Battery is my guess.

This is a common issue with Li batteries when they are not properly charged/discharged over time (2-3 years), they tend to develop a "memory". You may be able to overcome this issue by fully discharging the phone's battery by running an application (a game or a utility that constantly uses CPU cycles) that will fully deplete the battery, otherwise your phone will tend to just shut off around 30-40% battery life. Once totally depleted, use the low current charger USB cable (not the 2+ amp cable for your turbo charger) to fully charge the phone before turning it back on. This may be an 8 to 10 hour process. And, you may have to do this more than once. It should significantly increase your battery life. Going forward, do this every 90 days if you can.
