The Korean expression “fighting” (or “hwaiting”) originated from the English word “fighting,” though its usage in Korea differs from how it’s used in English-speaking countries. It became popular in the mid-20th century, likely after the Korean War, as Western culture began influencing Korea. Initially used to cheer for athletes in the 1960s and 1970s, the term quickly spread to other areas of life, including daily conversations, movies, and dramas. Today, “fighting” is widely used to encourage someone to do their best or to express support in challenging situations.

Fighting is from English word 'fight' and it means 'You can do it!', 'Go for it' or "Good luck' in Korea. It doesn't have the literal meaning of physically fighting when Korean use this word. btw, I enjoyed your reaction videos a lot. Can't wait to watch more :)

@@FreshestKReacts You’re correct. There are only 40 stations, so they had to do two rounds of judging. This was mentioned by Seungwoo's dad, who was one of the contestants.
The 20 White Spoons, the chefs that are the well known and are solely just watching from the mezzanine, doesn’t need to go through the first round of elimination (because they’re already well known and have accomplishments to back them up). This first round is for the judges to choose the 20 contenders from the 80 “unknown” chefs to be the Black Spoons. After this round, its going to be Black Spoons vs White Spoons, where only 20 chefs will go through the next round.

Okay. I rewatch the episode one to clarify the rules of the first elimination round. There are 80 black contestants. 40 will be judge by Baek Jong-won and 40 will be judge by Ang Sung-jae. They have a timer of 100mins to cook and be judge. So, 'only the first 20' who survive will win. The differed chef like Maniac is on a waiting list. If the judge's finished all of them and there are still sits left. Then the differed chef will have the chance to win. I hope it helps. :)
If you zoom out and look at the size of the room and how many stations there are, it was only 40 stations so they must have had 2 separate giant rooms where everyone cooks, but then which room has the round table with 20 seats for survivors. It really doesn't matter, I just found it interesting how they would handle that seeing as the room itself had limited space. I guess it was just to giant rooms with a judge in each
@@FreshestKReactsI believe it was explained in ep 1, but maybe you missed it. They made the preliminary in 2 rounds, 40 chefs each. Baek and Ahn both judge 20 chefs every round
@@Ria1D13 ok but what if the first group gets all 20 then the second group cant even compete? You know what I mean? How is it decided. Again, I dont think its a big deal, just something i found interesting.
I watched a video from one of the chef who was in the White Spoon team, she explained that not all of the 80 chefs were cooking together at the same time, because imagine if all of that 80 chefs were cooking at the same day their stomach would explode from judging & tasting 80 different dishes 😂 so they separate them into 2, so 40 chefs first then the next were the remaining 40 chefs, and then the 40 chefs were then separate again into 20 with baek jong-won and the other 20 with ahn sung-jae what i understand from what she said, they had a week break for each episode, they shooting for this 12 episodes show for 3 months
@@NinaTown_Townshipoh ok so they actually narrowed 80 down to 40 then the final 20 were selected from the 40? It’s such a minor thing and only on the production side of things but I just found it interesting how they handled it. I would have been pissed if 40 people went before I even had a chance and then when I finally started cooking there was only like 10 spots left or so.
Oh I have tried many. My biggest issue with KR restaurants near me is just how expensive they are. If I want to try like 4 different things I have to spend like $120. Every item is like $30 minimum. I’ve been going to a Korean Market though and getting stuff to make Korean food myself.

OHHH Ok so it does come from the English word. Ok cool
= cheer up, way to go
It means go and break a leg
American => Japanese => Korean. Japanese also use 'Hwaito(fighting)' as 'cheer up'. Then this word came to Korea
@@nowwwoo fighting means keep fighting. It's originated from English word
In Korean, fighting means cheering and affirming.
