Thanks for the advice man, I ended up ordering the Magnaflow 16483 Catback system. Got an incredible deal on it and the muffler delete wasn't doing it for me, way too much popping and the lack of back-pressure concerned me although i'm probably being 100% paranoid.
It does sound great! What I want to know is what do you do for a living? You have a huge house and a car lift in your garage. All the homes there are big and great! What am i doing wrong?
The difference is that when air is flowing through an H-pipe, it has to make sharp turns to exit the exhaust pipes. This actually adds to a deeper, more aggressive tone. With an X-pipe, the air isn't being forced to make sharp turns under compression, so the flow is smoother. That makes a higher-pitched, softer tone. X-pipes don't really add much power, about 2-3 over an H-pipe, and they don't sound as good as an H-pipe.
That sounds amazing...how is it on the highway? Any drone? I'm looking for a catback for mine that sounds good and noticably more pronounced than the stock unit but wont be annoying at all on the highway when I drive to Atlanta once a month or so.
I see what are saying now....The main deal with the X Pipe is to smooth out the exhaust flow so that there is not a 90 degree bend across the two sides. The X pipe does this..The Borla X pipe is done correctly...
is there a way to make your car exhaust system like super quiet customized? im looking to do that to my camaro because i have a cut out and i want it to but quiet like a brand new honda accord or something when the cut out is closed
@southerncarparts well if we are being smartassed, then an X bends, H doesnt, look at the Borla's pipe, they dont bend, any other X-pipe i've seen has a large bend in the collector in the dramatic shape of an X, so just saying that it just seems like borla is using an H-pipe and just eliminating the middle...
@southerncarparts i know, i just thought it was funny to see an X-pipe so similar to an H-pipe. I'm still a large supporter of the H's i'll sacrafice 2hp for a deeper rumble any day haha
Not trying to be a smart ass....but isn't that exactly the difference between a letter "H" and an "X", an X is nothing more the an H smashed close together without the center line of the H. What am I missing ;)?
@sctflasher379 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Why would you want to neuter you Camaro sound on purpose? It should sound mean with the exhaust and MEANER with the cut outs.
sounds nice, but Borla actually sounds weak compared to SLP, noweeds, magnaflow and so many more, Borla prices are soo high just cause they sponsor some shitty baja, dunebuggy and other shit no gives two s. about
This is exactly what I think about when I picture the 2010 SS in my head.
This was really helpfull!!
Great video guys!!
Glad you enjoyed the exhaust!!!!
Thanks for sharing, I just installed a borla s-type on my 2010 SS,and watching your video was very helpful!!
Two thumbs up!!
@Atrides91 an x pipe just means there is no center pipe connecting the two pipes. it doesnt have to be an actual shape of an x.
Jim - Nice. I will attempt a garage install w/ jack stands of the same exhaust. I hope to post video similar to yours. Nice garage by the way...

I like the idea of having a lift in your home garage, how tall is your garage in order to have the lift in there?
For future reference. They make a tool for those rubber hangers that make that job a snap !!! :-)
awesome vid i so need to change my exhaust lol

holy shit! a borla exhaust system that actually fits correctly! you must have a fluke!
Hey guys, the car sounds great! 2 questions: was this Atak or s type and was that an L99? Thanks
Is it just me or does the Borla X-pipe almost look like an H-pipe smashed close together without the center line of the H?
Why do the SS camaros sound so weak and quiet with the stock exhaust?
Brian Robinson mine is stock and sounds pretty good
Is this the Borla "Touring" or the "S-Type" system?
is this the borla sport exhaust?
no, that silver box was a resonator.
WOW!

what kind of exaust is this? is it borlas s type?

@TopFuelProductions Still there.....Cats were not touched.
How much would that cost

It sure is.....
And we're done..... @4:18
Its called a cross member lol

No drone at all!!!!!!

noweeds are dumps behind the headers...
Shoulda just deleted the mufflers. 10,000 times better. Magnaflow axle-back with 5" tips. :D
But wait, this is a v6. :\
