Just a few quick tips for your next adventure Rex H. 1. Just a reminder to lock your hubs in, because it has manual locking hubs, not auto-locking hubs 2. Every time you go somewhere to 4x4 ALWAYS air down your tires, this will help with traction in every situation, as a starting point I would air down to 12-15 PSI, and carry a 12 volt air compressor to air back up when finished on the tracks. 3. Always bring recovery gear, I saw you guys had MAXTRACS which is one of the most vital and basic recovery items to have, second I would get a simple recovery kit, which will typically contain a few snatch straps and winch accessories, leading me to... 4. I would recommend getting a winch compatible bull bar (winch-bar) and get a winch, winches are not the most vital part, but they are an absolute must if you go 4x4ing with 1 car or if you start doing more challenging tracks. I hope this quick rundown helps you guys out for your next adventure. If you take to proper steps you will find your Patrol is FAR MORE capable than you realise. Love your vids, so happy you are getting into 4x4ing. Also getting a UHF will also help in communication, I highly recomend
4wd is the greatest thing you could ever do with a car! It’s my passion I can’t live without going off road and talking to every 4wder I could find all day everyday
can tell that they’re new when they wear bright white shoes out muddying hahaha, also when you start sliding in mud or just in general don’t fully lock up ur breaks, hold them so your wheels spin but ur slowing down and then eventually if you need and can lock them so then you don’t slide cause once you start sliding you can easily lose control and potentially have to get skull dragged out of a situation and or f ya car completely
Little slippery out there. The patrol went well though. Let your tyres down when you head out next. You'll have a lot more traction offroad without slipping so much and reving it so hard. Keen for the next video🤙
bit of advice for those muddy hills you were on at the start, highrange 1st or 2nd gear, you need wheel speed so the tyres can clear the lugs and give you more grip, lowrange is for your more technical uphill climbs
My first time 4wding was with my dad in he’s bt50 with no lockers and bunch off he’s mates in the high country the weather was perfect too so much easier then if it was snowing the name off the track was mount selywyn via twins jeep track then instantly feel in love ps:my dad was to scarred to do it because of he fear of hights so I took over lol
Rex NEVER drive tracks with your thumbs inside the wheel. If the car slips into a rut or hits a rock youre thumbs are gone. Funny as seeing you guys 4bying 😂😂. Got alot to learn but only way to get there is to do it. Have a good one G 🤙🤙
Hey Rex. If u ever need a 4wd buddy that owns the same GQ as u I am available, myself and dad can teach you what u need to know 😊 hope u are learning lots on a tough rig like the mighty GQ and very much a cheat car to start with.
For anything sloppy wheel speed is your friend, plus some of the best things you can do are decent muddies and a locker in the rear or reshim the lsd, she looks a bit tired 😂😂
You really shouldn’t be running your patrol on gas or any car it’s the worse fucking thing you could ever do if you run it on unleaded the thing will be just dandy

Need some diff locks for those steep muddy climbs, auto lockers are definitely the cheapest option unless you find used ones

Tough rig grab a set of Toyo rough terrains to make it even tougher
watch your thumbs mate when fourbying, if you run your thumbs in the steering wheel and hit a root you can break your thumb.
Should get a 3inch lift
I have seen au falcons go through worse than this
I'm confused is it diesel TD42 or petrol TB42?
Just when you think a prado in the bush is bad enough, he is wearing white shoes 😂😂
