Plus she's keeping him at a distance. Zijin is smart, intelligent and independent. She fights for what's right...so they have a few things in common.
I just happen to find this wonderful drama with two of my favorite actors from “Yanxi Palace” Wu Jin Yan and Xu Kai, thank you casting, producers, directors and all involved putting this ensemble together. I’m just on episode three and my girl Wu Jin Yan appears to be again as smart as before. Thank you! You dedicated tirelessly hard working people that give us English subtitles.
I'm trying to practice my Chinese, so I mostly watch without subs, but it wouldn't be the same if I couldn't use them at all. And it's a great production. Yanxi was a great exercise in palace tricks, but Fuheng's doom stole the scene and made everything gloomy. Here at least Xu Kai's character is not just the male lead, he's also formidable under all aspects, which Fuheng was only sparsely and to make it more tragic when he lost.
The painting that Yao Zijin completed actually exists in real life, it's called Mouse and Stone and was said to have been painted by Xuande Emperor (Zhu Zanji) in 1427.
You should try “Story of Yanxi Palace” the leads are also xu kai and jinyan but with a twist. Or you can try Princess Agents.Oh btw, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a 10/10 cdrama “RESET” from Yoyo english channel, it’s a Masterpiece drama with only 15 episodes. Hope you can check it out! 💕

Omg, just loving how some of my favourite actors and actresses, from 'The legend of Hao Lan' and 'The story of Yanxi palace' are in this. So awesome. That's so cute too, how our Zu Kai/Grandson, like his little helper, who solved things, and can cook, and draw too. He even helped give her time to flee, while he took a stroll to enjoy the moonlight so she could escape. Loving their new story. Might sound crazy, but is it me, or are all the delicious mouthwatering dishes making my mouth water, and my tummy rumble..I want to try all their yummy food too hehehe where is an asian shop that can help me make these hehe Darnit, I should have married my asian boyfriend, he knew how to cook like these guys. My biggest regret.

Same thing happened in the legend of Haolan. Most of the cast in Yanxi palace is the same as that drama. I watched the legend of Haolan first, Haolan and Lyu Buwei did not get together again in the end but they got together in the Yanxi palace because she became his favourite concubine. Fuca Fuheng(Xu Kai) couldn't get together with Wei Yinglou but they do get together here. It is simply amazing how they see the chemistry between the actors even when they're not leading together at the time. It has been proven that these great actors can form chemistry with just about anyone... It's simply amazing
