i am in utter awe of this song. i listened to the lyrics closely the second time around, and my eyes brimmed with tears. youth is so fragile, fickle and fleeting. time cures all but the fading of youth. unbelievably beautiful song.

It's surreal to think this song had existed for such a long time and how it took me years to finally hear it. It's like a person you wished you couldve met sooner in life. I love all the things that it makes me feel, even the bitterness it makes me remember. To the one who shared the Painters' music with me, I'll remember you and I was glad I got to talk to someone like you.

From the teenage melancholy of the original to a funeral dirge of experience, what a songwriter this man is!

The most impressing thing is he stays still the whole time 😮

When he does these versions its almost as if he were some ancient minstrel in some faraway place, he changes up so much of the song, and it sounds almost like a paen, a prayer, something not from these times. Absolutely , hauntingly, beautiful.

lekkki1 I know you wrote this 4 years ago, but I just have to tell you how much I agree. The ancient bard feel really hit me when listening to the album Admiral Fell Promises.

Fuck there must be an insane amount of amazing ancient minstrel music that we'll never be able to hear or recreate

Working on it atm 🙏🏻 the bass notes are easy to find if you listen closely although I think it may be played on a 12 string due to the resonant notes. Absolutely beautiful ❤️🙏🏻 will let you know if I make any progress ❤️🙏🏻
