Came close to buying an 87’ GNX a couple years ago but had to put those plans on hold. Youngest son got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes so everything went for his insulin, pump and everything else. In time it will be my time but for now just gotta wait. Very nice GN Nick 👍🏽
Nick you have the best job ever my friend.
I’m 53 now back in the day when I was a teenager I always asked my dad to drive by maple motors to see all the classic cars anytime we were in the big guitar.
Thanks for the awesome content!
I hate when people debadge these. If I was gonna buy it I'd get a complete set of gn badges and the turbo 3.8litre badges. I'd have the paint buffed out and then probably get the A/C right. Great powerful car. A survivor.
The original owner of my old 87 had it repainted prior to me buying it from him. He never put the emblems back on but presented me with a complete NOS set. I left them because it the look grew on me. I gave them to the next owner when I sold it a few years later.
It's not that serious.
I agree.😊
Damn son couldn’t agree more. Badges mean a lot !
I'd like to way in here, lol. To me, It's really not that big of a deal. Either way, it's just personal tast. Personally, i think badges mean nothing. You know what it is. What else matters. It's not like anyone other than you cares about your car anyway, so do what u want with it. Steve McQueen, on the other hand, hated badges. He said cars looked a lot cleaner without them, and are you saying Steve McQueen was wrong? lol ok ok I'm just poking fun, i never cared for his movies anyways , snooze fest, lol dont say that to a mustang fanboy or theyl get there panties all up in watt or something lol at the end of the day we all have are own tasts, likes and dislikes. But I think one thing we can all agree on is how much we laugh at the guy that puts fake badges on his car. Gnx badge on a grand national that's not a gnx, shelby badges on Mustang v6, yuck, f that guy lol am I right lol.
One of my top five cars. Absolutely love these babies. Great test ride Nick. 👌 💪
I agree Justin 👍
I should have NEVER sold my 1986 Buick GNX 😡. It’s a rare car that I love ❤️
@@captainlarrynosleepfishing5350
I believe that 87 was the only year the GNX was made?
@@bradbruggeman6745 your correct 👍🏻 great car
I can still remember when my stepdad brought one from the Buick dealership in 1987. It was less then 20k new. And you can get upgraded stages for the engine from the dealership. He had some of those done too.
Growing up I always wanted one of these cars man that whistle on this sounds great and it’s beautiful!!!
Nick, another winner! The value on these is sky rocketing! Every Mecum, they sell for more and more. This is a classic of the future! Wish I had a place to keep it. 😍
you could store it by me. I have room but no $ to buy it lol
@@mikel2887 what part of the country are you in?
had one back in 1997,also an 86. These cars doesn't get enough love for their handling abilities. Floats down the interstate on a luxury car feel suspension and can take fast curves comfortably too.
Back in '97 almost nothing would hold a candle to a stock G/N except a Viper, ZR1 Vette, or Mustang Cobra...
Kinda takes the curves, okay for an G body car. Flash oversteer was always interesting in hot corner !!!!
Dont forget the GNX and then the Hurricane and Cyclone a few years later !!!! Back when GM was a HP leader and innovator, now they are a far behind follower.
@@darknes7800 really good tires that grip were a must have
and for 3/4 the price ! I paid $6900 for mine back then .For just $10k you could get low low miles and showroom quality, but these cars were readily available back then..
Back in the day there was a war between Fox body stands and Grand Nationals. Beautiful car!!
Love it.. Don't remember the turbo on them lagging so bad.. but has been a few decades since I was around one full time. Great car as it sits... should sell fast to anyone with any knowledge and some cash... I would but I just dropped 20k for heart surgery on nov 16th LOL I know.. I need to get my priorities right and have bought this first LOL Love the videos!!!
That was not a stock turbo set up
figured it wasn't but didn't really look at it hard 👍@@-Jason-L
That is a nice ride Nick. I actually visited your dealership over memorial weekend checked out some of your cars and wondered to myself how often you got the turbo gbody coming through your lot. I love gbodys i have had a ttop black monte ss for 5 years now because i always said thats the closest thing to a grand national i could afford. Well about 6 months ago i found a 87 ttop grand national talked to the owner for 4 months working on a deal well 2 months ago he called me and accepted my offer and i ended up with a ttop 44k original 1 owner car. I seriously thought i was ganna have heart failure when he called me. But very nice car.
Thank you
Looks like 59,000 original miles ! Locking differential …… nice car Thanks Nick 😊
That’s what I was thinking too. Most of these cars have been turned over at least once or twice now. That dash looks too mint to be 159k or 259k. It wouldn’t matter to me if it had 500k miles as it most likely had a built motor & trans. The car looks very healthy.
Has a whole new stage 1 motor buddy lol, can’t be 60k original miles
@@tyobsxura4360 I’d say it’s for sure rocking a built motor & probably a trans as stock one not reliably hold that kind of power 😬 Not for long anyway 😁
That car is dangerously fast. Someone knew what they were doing with that 3.8 sfi turbo
Love the GN, it's one of my favorite cars!!! 🤜🤛
Growing up in the 80s, the 'affordable' muscle cars of the time were Mustang GT 5.0, Camaro IROC-Z and the Trans Am Turbo. All of them extremely beautiful for this era that was emerging from the terrible malaise era. The Grand National was the sleeper of the bunch and now it's one of the most coveted cars to own now. It was also the smart car to buy. Good grief it sounds ready to go and you're just barely touching the gas @4:15. Badass. @4:20, "Whoa...."
So true , I worked at a Ford dealership back in 87 when the new 5.0 Mustangs came out with 140 on the dash ! I've got two of them now but always wanted a T - type or Grandnational , they kicked major booty at the track and on the street , as much as I love the 5.0 they could touch this car ! 🔥🔥😂👍
Best friend bought one of these when we were teenagers....
Lots of fun and great memories!!! 👍😎
@MapleMotorsMuscleCars NickSouthgate What a beast of a car! I wish I had $30k to spend on another GN. Be sure that alky doesn’t run out as that tune is going to need that alky not to hurt the motor. Props for pricing this car and all of your other classics fair 👍🏼😎
Forgot to mention on my previous favorites comment. That little black and yellow Dodge D50 (I think that’s what is) with the 318 swapped in looks like it would be an absolute hoot! Probably a death trap but you’d die with a smile on your face 😁
Buick has a handful of gems BUT the GN is by far the most popular today. Still second place to the GSX for me personally
I'd love to own one. This one looks like it has a decent amount of bondo on the doors and some rust on underside of trunk. Clean undercarriage.
I bet that odometer has rolled over 3x. Car is clean and price reflects the stage 1 motor that replaced the original one. They aren’t cheap to build. GLWS
This GN is clean 😊!!, I like the shaved look. I would get some CalTracks and wider tires in the back for better traction
its a 4 link in the rear. All it needs is some good upper and lower adjustable trailing arms and some sticky tires.
@@SloppyJOLopys ok thx
I had an 84 T-type in the early 90's. It was a fun sleeper.
Wow that brings back. Memories of 1986. 😁
Those are coming on in value, if I had disposable cash I’d have to have it.
one of my favorite transmissions to rebuild, the 2004R,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
That's definitely the best sounding GN, dang, I dropped the ball on those (back in the 90's 😅
That is the hottest car from the 80's. The car looks good for its age. Going over to the T type in a few
Another HS crush! This car, an IROC or a MC SS were the cars to have in my HS days! I couldn’t afford one 😢. Lol it’s all good I can now though!
Is this a 3.8 or a 4.3 V 6 in this beast ? I would say 4.3 in the car that you see, for I see this performance out of the 4.3 and not the other.
3.8. The GMC Syclone and Typhoon got the 4.3 turbo. The 3.8 made tons of power and can easily be tweaked to 400-500+hp.
Damn is that a Grand Daddy ?
Is that a Grand National?
Wow it's like candy !
To the enthusiast 🥇
I wanna hear the Turbo !
I wanna ride in it 😎
Adjust the tilt column
And step on it ! 💭
Is that a Grand Daddy
Oh you bet it is !!
It looks nice. Always wanted one. Definitely not asking a bad price.
Drool.. wish I could do something about it right now. Sweet ride.
That looks like value. Would be interesting to see receipts; guessing that’s a serious build
Beautiful ride nick! This one's a keeper must have!
DRIVING IN, AN SELLING A LEGEND . THE GIANT KILLER GRAN NATIONAL . INVEST IN HISTORY AT MAPLE MOTORS AN SLAY YOUR OWN GIANTS . 😎💪👏🏆
Beautiful Grand National, I think if you'd clay, cut & buff & lay down a nice coat of wax It'll really bring out the shine better. You making me miss mine I had.
Fastest production car back when they were new. I wish I bought one back then instead of deciding to buy the Monte Carlo SS.
Lol. Same here. 🤷♂️
Absolutely love it. I would love to have that black beauty
More Mopars! Get some 71-74 Chargers. Last of the sexy Mopars!
Sweet car....I will see you in a year or more to get my prize from your lot. Love the cars...ty Nick
I gotta send this to my friend. He loves Grand Nationals.
I Love Them To ❤
Pretty nice ride Nick..my buddy had a 87 in high school, bought it new. He would say, Get in, Shut up and Hold on!! He got T-boned in 95 by a drunk driver who ran a red light and lost his life.😢
May they Rest In Peace...
I always hated that 1990 Ford Tempo T style gear shifter. For what that car is, they could have made the shifter more aggressive
Sounds like my Marauder 😆 🤣 i got a PTK Turbo kit on it.
Damn Nick!!! Now that's a Beast!!
A lot of cars you do the spoedo is off, it's because the gears have been changed and it throws it off
I don't get how some of those cars that are so beautiful and stuff like the wipers or horns don't work
😮
Always loved those. Sick car
oh if I had the funds, outstanding ride Nick!!
Love those cars, one of my dream cars.
Just saw this on the TOK app and had to see the whole thing! 😍
That's my dream car.
Thanks for sharing.
It was a pleasure watching you drive it. Thanks
Hey Nick when you be able to get a 2003 Mercury Marauder?
These are bad ass cars! But being black and no ac, have to get that fixed for sure
This won't last long at all I'll be surprised if it hasn't sold already
Damn! If a random dude with birth control glasses walks into your dealership and hands you 2 dollars. Just know, I lost the bet. 😅😅
The sound of that turbo is beautiful
So clean!! I want this one!!
Nick put a temp tag on it and take it home ha ha
I dont see this listed on your website - how many miles? under hood pics
Sold
If the car were 100% stock, I would fly down and buy it now.
Know that's a good deal those are only going up in value nice car Nick
I❤ the car. I think I would❤ thethrottle a little too much and have a little too much fun
Man I miss my 86. 😢
Hands off that interior bud
I almost bought one back in the late 90s for $2500. Still kicking myself
Nick , when are you going to be posting the el Camino you showed in your lot walk ?
I have waiting for this one and can’t wait to see the T-Type
Looks like rust on the truck lip too.
Pretty car
Got some electrical issues and a few other things, definitely needs doors and other body work. I might do 20 on this one, after i looked it over and made sure it was a real GN of course.
20? 😂 😅
🍀Let the party begin 😎✌️
Wow -- Crazy fast!
My favorite one on the lot
I love it that is a mean machine💪💪👍🏼👍🏼
That car is a street racers dream come true.
She gets loose. Those r fun cars too 👍
this with a t56 would be god mode
Nice 86 look good. Big 10
Thanks 👍
That is a sweet ride!
And the badge on the clove box
Love that car!!
Bitchin car. Would absolutely love to have this. ❤️😎
Vette Killer ! ☠
I miss my 86....😢
Classic.
Needs rust repair and paint to be exceptable.
Nice GN.Needs a lot bodywork. And a paint job.
One of my dream cars
Just feel this is not a origanal grand national look at the stering wheel usually has the badge on it
I know where one like this is in KY unless this one is it but i beleve the one i know has almost no miles so not sure
Timeless Beuty
Super sweet sleeper.
Great price!!!
Those headlights gotta go.
With the cat back exhaust, Jesus, Mary and Joseph
4:16 your welcome
It will sell fast probably! Nice ride
