One of my favorite albums of his, in fact one of my favorite albums of all times. Agree he was at his vocal peak here and it shows. Love the poster and album cover. Thanks for the video.
Great video John. I love Harry. In fact I've requested "Remember" be played at my funeral. It's worth noting that Herbie Flowers was a member of TRex n the late 70's too.
Schmilsson and Son of.....both really good albums. When I ever listen to Schmilsson I always have to put Ringo and Walls and Bridges. Those albums just go together. Just a fun time. I betcha those guys had alot of fun together. Nice video.
As a child, I was a huge fan of the songs from "The Point". But I was surprised it had mild success in the US. In comes the magic of Richard Perry and the perfect vehicle to show off Harry's voice in "Without You". But it wasn't "Coconut" that caught my attention as one of the follow-up singles. It was "Jump Into The Fire", which was the second single from the album in the US. Just a fabulous 45 (not as much of fan of the album version). When you think about the three singles from the album, it's amazing just how different each one is. Yet all three made it to the top 10 in my area of the US.
Hi John. Totally agree I think Harry Nilsson is so underrated. He voice was Great. I do like the album your showing. But for me his early albums were so more. Play them quite a lot and never tire of them.
I wasn't there but (in relation to the Ringo 1992 Caesar's Palace show) I was disappointed but not surprised to hear Todd Rundgren handled the choruses and associated high parts on "Without You" that night. Nilsson merely sang on the verses. How cool of a send off it would've been though to hear an aging Harry magically regain his pre-1975 vocal range and bring the house down. But dreams are nothing more than wishes and a wish is just a dream I guess.
One of my favorite artists and this is his masterpiece. An artist like him is oh so missed. Thank you for your great review and video. Your videos are always honest and so professional. God bless you and your channel.
I caught the review this morning and have always loved this album. When I watched this I thought "right...this goes on the i pod for the train ride in". Thanks for this...
I prefer Son of schmilsson a bit better. Both are Fabulous Albums. Nilsson was an incredible Artist! It's unfortunate for us fans that he rarely performed live. ???... I❤ Harry!
Jim Gordon, who did that famous drum solo on "Jump Into the Fire", became schizophrenic and murdered his mother. He spent the rest of his life in an institution, where he died last year. A tragic footnote to a great album.
Hey John great review, why do you consider him not fit for a roll model, just asking as I've not heard a great deal about him other than the Beatles stuff? Or anyone?
I've never listened to this album all the way through. But I'll give it a listen today. Thanks for sharing John.

Hi
Nilsson Schmilsson and Son Of Schmilsson are great albums.
Like part one and part two.
Especially the humorous Joy in Son Of is great.
Take care.
Great review. This is one of my favourite albums too.
Thanks for doing some Nilsson... I only got into him since a year ago and he's kind of a hidden gem among singer/songwriters of the 60s and 70s.

One of the great 70s albums, John. Right up there with 'American Pie'.
American Pie doesn't even come near to Schmilsson.

I have lots of his albums - but not this one for some reason. I love Harry’s music/songs. I’ll check this out.

Thank you John! Nilsson was hardly known in Hungary and I very much regret that, bcs had I known him, he would have been among my top favourites.
John, i really enjoy these classic album reviews.
'I got Blu-tac stains on my posters...' Sounds like a song from The Wall.
I prefer Son of schmilsson a bit better.
Both are Fabulous Albums.

I❤ Harry!
I enjoy your reviews there’s so much I did not know about Harry Nilsson .Thanks John enjoyed.
Fantastic! I grew up with the album and just did a '72 RUclips short as a tribute to Without You
It’s a solid album all the way through although many was the time back in the day that I would just play “Jump In The Fire”. It’s such a great rocker.
Great video,John!

Great video
Nilsson fought the producer about his orchestral version. I heard that they argued until he did the final vocal.
My favorite is “Harry,” but “Nilsson Schmilsson” is objectively his best.
My favorite Nilsson album is "Knnillssonn."
