    I think the lavender one that you don’t know may be “lavender perfection” Also I don’t think that’s Tyrell. I think Tyrell’s petals are more like labyrinth & don’t wrap back like that.

      You are so right! Tyrell looks like a bigger version of Labyrinth, but more peachy. I can’t put my finger on this one. The lavender I found after filming, it’s definitely Lavender Perfection. At first I thought Lavender Ruffles, but it looks more like Lavender Perfection. Thank you for the input. 🤗🤗

    Your garden is gorgeous, real eye candy❤ the unknown yellow one at 33:02 looks like Blyton softer gleam to me. You're right about this year being so weird for dahlias - I still haven't seen a single bloom of some of my dahlias, and it's mid-September!

    • @InTheGardenWithClaudia
      @InTheGardenWithClaudia  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks Yulia! It feels good to step back and look how far our garden have come. 🥰 Regarding one of the unknown dahlias- you’re right, it does look a lot like ‘Blyton Softer Gleam’ but the blooms aren’t the same size. I did a little bit more research, I’m thinking it could be Ferncliff Bliss? I’m not sure if you’ve seen that variety, but they look very similar.
      That’s so wild you haven’t seen blooms yet on your dahlias! What zone are you in? I have several that haven’t bloomed that are not just now budding.

      @@InTheGardenWithClaudia I'm in zone 8b, Washington state. I'm really confused about what to make out of it because they are all treated the same 🤷 so, just enjoying everything I was granted 🙂 Also, I have one identifying tactic when it comes to stanger dahlias: I look at the overall stock of the supplier, and try to find the matching variety because it feels more likely to me that they mixed it up with something from the stock they actually have on hand, rather than some random lookalikes. Out of curiosity, what is your favorite one this year? 🙂

      @@InTheGardenWithClaudia I’m in Newport. I go as far as Florence but really need to do some more exploring. SO glad I found your channel 👏🏻👏🏻😊💛!!!
      I am about a mile inland from the beach but I am on a hill, so I still have to factor the wind in which I learned the hard way. I went all in ($800) on a Sunshine Ligustrum hedge and it failed, surely due to the wind in that particular area. I see neighbors successful with Gold Mop Cypress’ right in my neighborhood, so that will likely be the replacement but they are such slow growers. But such is life 🌎🌳
      I need to binge-watch all of your videos. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    I forgot to ask you if you treated the soil with anything after you removed the sick dahlias. I have removed several because the leaves looked bad. Anything you could add to what you do after removing dahlias would be so appreciated! 😊❤🤗

    • @InTheGardenWithClaudia
      @InTheGardenWithClaudia  10 месяцев назад +2

      Cheri that is an excellent question! I personally just clean around the area as best as I can, but I never treat the soil with anything specific. I clean all of tools, and I check the dahlia around the diseased ones. I amend my soil with compost every year, but no special treatments after removing diseased ones. I will ask a dahlia farmer I know pretty well and see if they have any ideas. Good question! 🥰

    Hi lovely dahlia blooms. Is it possible to grow dahlias in a tropical climate?

  • @mikadumi2596
    @mikadumi2596 9 месяцев назад

    I love your gardening passion! Dahlias are my favorite flower, but I have never grown them. Someone just gifted me a potted Venti Mango dahlia, and I'm not sure if I should put it in the ground now or keep it in the pot until February. I'm in Geyserville California, zone 9b. We're about an hour north of San Francisco and an hour east of the Pacific Ocean. We've been in the 80's to mid 90's the past 2 weeks. My first frost date is about Dec. 10. I couldn't find an answer in my searches. It seems like you know soooo much about dahlias and some good farmer hook-ups, I thought I would ask your opinion. I appreciate any advice you could share. Thank you!!

    • @InTheGardenWithClaudia
      @InTheGardenWithClaudia  9 месяцев назад

      Aww thank you so much Mika! Aren't dahlias just the best? I would say hold off on planting it in the ground until April in your zone. Is it still flowering? If so you can let them go a bit longer until you have a frost or you can cut down the stalk and back off watering. In your zone you can leave them in the ground over winter, but I don't recommend planting it out now. I haven't had A LOT of luck overwintering them in pots, but that's because our climate if very wet and they will rot, so I like to lift mine from the soil that are in containers and store them in vermiculite, I have a couple of videos on that. Does that make sense?

    What a magnificent garden. At 26.50min you mention the name of the orange dahlia that looks like it's had a blowout. Would you mind letting me know the name of it? I can't quite grab the name in the video but it's just gorgeous. Thanks.

      Thank you so much Mimi, I’m happy you enjoyed this flower garden tour. So funny you ask, I got that Dahlia at a nursery and the tag says Tyrell, however, it is definitely not Tyrell. I’m thinking it’s Bracken Palomino! It really is such a stunner! I can’t wait to divide and grow more of her.

    I looked on Dahlia Addison to find Sandra but there were about 20 varieties. Do you happen to know the second part of the name? Thank you in advance, Laurie

    • @InTheGardenWithClaudia
      @InTheGardenWithClaudia  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Laurie! So this one did not have a second name, it was just Santa on the tab. I got it from Dahlia Barn, and after looking on their site, there’s only one Sandra variety which is the one I have. I hope that helps. If not let me know and I will continue looking. 💗
