    I will tell you this I moved to FLA for a year and a half and I could set the AC at 78 and be comfortable. Then I moved back MA and the AC has to be set at 72 for me to get that same comfort level. You post what you want it's your channel how gives a crap! about what others say! or want!

    When I rolled into Las Vegas in July 1975 on my motorcycle it was 118 degrees. I camped at the old KOA out on the Boulder Highway. At midnight it was 108 degrees. I was using my tent. I slept in my shorts on top of my sleeping bag. I had the tent doors wide open with the bike in front of the door for privacy. I spent a lot of time in the pool. That was a noteworthy experience. I couldn't carry an air conditioner on the bike. And, I had to wear the leathers whenever I was in motion just to keep the heat off.

    I keep the indoor temp about 76 to 78 indoors here in the Philippines. Outdoor is usually low 90's during the day and low 80's at night year round. It doesn't get cold. Maybe mid 70's at night sometimes. I make videos about whatever I want.

    Steve, you make all of these projects look easy. I've watched a couple of installs now on RUclips of these mini split systems. We need our garage to be more of a useful space in future. To do that we'll need air conditioning. I've made note of all your recommendations for insulation and such. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Hi Steve, don't worry about what people say who tell you what to video. You're obviously not someone who is trying to live off a RUclips video income, so you should feel free to video what you enjoy best! Those are diverse things, it's what you *like* and have passion to do. If you don't video what you love, it will show and you won't enjoy it and quality will be lacking. I like your style with your videos so I subscribe, I think many others who subscribe feel that way. If someone who wants just 1 subject, travel videos for example can subscribe and just watch those! Anyway you do thorough methodical work no matter the project, or travel so I for one will continue to tune in! 👍🏻

I personally TRULY ENJOY any and ALL of the videos that you've posted... whether it be the Camper van, Shop content, or DYI projects .... What makes YOUR channel different from 97% of the others, is how analytical & "factual" you are ... Trustworthy, & honest, in what you post.... Steve, any considerations on getting a grid-tied solar system, DIY?

    • @XplorerSteveDIY
      @XplorerSteveDIY  4 года назад +2

      I have looked into it and it Doesn't seem complicated, I figured I would re-do my 40ft, south-facing patio cover to hold panels. I have researched it and I don't think the tech is there yet. Companies hurt themselves by over-promising and under delivering. Everyone likes them at first but when the savings don't add up or the roof springs a leak under the panels and you have to pay double to patch it , well....Naw. Warren Buffet, I hear, is going to invest in the largest solar array ever and connect it to our grid. That is the way to do it. If it weren't for government subsidized installs, we wouldn't have all these ugly panels dotting the neighborhood rooftops. A neighbor went to sell his house and found there was a lein on it from the solar company that installed his array. He has to pay it off before he can sell. Many people have to find buyers who will sign on to the program before being able to sell. When there are improvements to the panels and batteries, I will absolutely reconsider. I believe in GOOD tech. I have a Tesla 3. Love it.

      @@XplorerSteveDIY , thanks for your reply. It makes a lot of sense. Here in Asia, I installed a small
      1.5 kW grid-tied solar system myself. Here you can install a zero export device behind the meter so you are just using it for self consumption. I have glass partition between my living room and study with highly efficient mini-splits installed. Our rates are based on a tiered rate consumption, no time of use of use. I produce, on average about 6.5 kWh a day. It was enough to cut my electric bill in half. The DIY projects cost me about $2,500 USD.
