- Ian and I head out for an overnight bushwalk in the Southern Flinders Ranges after 24 hours of heavy rain. Alligator Creek is flowing, the Spring wild flowers are out and the geology of the Flinders is on show. The short circuit hike was perfect to fit into our plans to visit family in the area and test some new gear in a stunning location!
Fantastic to see water flowing through the beautiful Flinders ranges.
Another great episode.
Cheers Zac! Yes, it doesn't happen often, but when it does its lovely to see and listen to!
Stunning rock formations, an awesome overnighter. Thanks for sharing. :)
It's a beautiful part of the world, fir sure! I'm pretty glad I got a 2020 hike in before the season ended and got too hot 👍
@@AmyOutdoors I agree with too hot. I used to love it but seems as I age I don't tolerate it as well. :) :)
Excellent, review and beautiful country. Thanks Amy
I love it up there! Thanks again 👍
wow...nice.Walking by the creek . . . lovely indeed.
It sure was! Thanks for watching 👍
Beautiful area! Thanks for taking us along. Your country is certainly on my bucket list of must see places. Maybe someday.
It sure is! We might all be allowed to travel overseas again one day 🤞
Such a beautiful and interesting land you live in. Thanks so very much for sharing this with us! Great video!.
Glad you enjoyed it Jon! Thanks so much for your continuing support and comments, I truly appreciate it 👍 I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your canoe trip.
Great vid! That terrain is really cool, love those terraces
Thanks so much RSO 👍😊
truly is . .
Looked like a great spot to camp Amy, lovely footage as always.
Thanks mate, I always appreciate you watching and commenting 😁 It was great to have the campsite all to ourselves in the middle of the school holidays!
@@AmyOutdoors Ye always best with no crowds.
Awesome location. Well put together. Thanks.
Cheers Nas, glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely stunning spot, Amy! The contrast of colours between the rock formations and vegetation is so vibrant. Such a bonus to be there just after the rains too with all the water running through the gorge. Makes me want to head over to SA for some hiking! Really enjoyed this. 👍
It's a special part of the Flinders, for sure! The rain certainly did make those colours pop... on a normal dry summer day the whole things looks dusted with a greyish-brown layer (like most of the Aussie bush). It was a very spekky time to venture into the gorge! Hopefully you will get a chance to head over here to hike one day - it's quite different from the east cost, but we've got some pretty special places to explore 😁
Beautiful scenery! Good to see someone else crazy enough to carry 20kg. Camera gear is my culprit. :)
yep, camera gear is always a compromise... but I also find it hard to leave some luxuries at home - I'm going to try to overcome that on my next hike ;)
Good to see hubby out with you
Loved the slow motion
All the best
Clive
Haha, yes its been a while, eh? It's always a nice change to share the experience. Thanks Clive 👍
Amazing! Such a beautiful hike! Indescribably magnificent scenery! Looks like it was a good challenge, too! Great shots of the rainbow and sunset, all the terrain, streams, and trees! Campsite looks great! Awesome video, Amy!!! 😁👍🏻
So glad you enjoyed it! It was great to get out for a hike with Ian before the weather heats up too much. It is one of my most loved parts of South Australia... the Flinders Ranges holds a special place in my heart... I’ve had adventures in this region from the time I was in primary school and first realised I loved spending time in the bush. It was so great to see it after rain... that was definitely something different for me!
Amy Outdoors it looks like a wonderful area! We know exactly what you mean about realizing your love of the outdoors early on. It shows through, in all of your content. 😁👍🏻
You're too kind brothers! I love that you're getting your family out and enjoying it... building such great memories 🤍
Back on foot! Such a beautiful area. So lush and vibrant. I love gorges and deep valleys. Great overnight hiking destination for sure.
Yep, I had to test out those new Altras... it was killing me every time I looked at them and wondered how they'd go on a hike, lol. That gorge is so different for most of the year, but it seems to bounce back to life in Spring, and then in the rain the colours absolutely pop. It's still a stunning spot in the dry, but in the wet it's awesome 👍
@@AmyOutdoors I've been contemplating Altras for running/hiking back when but never jumped on them. Maybe in the future!
My golly all the rocks and water look stunning! Groovy to see another hike video from you! (Also the secret happiness when you realise you have the campsite yourself) :P
Cheers Hayley! Haha, always great to find a campsite unoccupied! Thanks for watching 👍
You got some awesome b-roll footage! Oh noooooo...a soggy foot !!! And the best way to end the night #campjuice for the win!! very cool hiking spot!
Haha, #camphuice for the win indeed!! Thanks for watching guys.
PS. I was going to do the gallon bag challenge on this walk but the only rubbish I found on the whole walk (aside from TP which I refuse to pick up 🤢) was a bit of orange peel... so I'm still going to do it, I just need to find a less cared for spot, 🤣
@@AmyOutdoors Well thats a good thing! We are heading out on a fall camping trip on Friday "hoping" to pick up trash too!
The Xanthoria look they are in a healthy state? Started the video tonight but will watch it all tomorrow night. Cheers, Paul
Cheers Paul 👍 yes, they're looking completely different to 18-months ago when Ian and I walked a section of the Heysen in the Flinders... back then the roos had munched them all down to stumps during the drought... now they're lush and gorgeous again!
Nice.
Cheers!
I love the coloration of the rocks, coming out of that valley the landscapes are totally different! Nice👌
See you later Amy✌️
yep, great walk to do for the diversity of landscape, for sure! thanks for visiting again Marc
Hi Amy,
Loving your videos. In some of your earlier videos I saw you using little milo sachets. Can you please tell me where you get them from?
Oh, the 3-in-1 Milo sachets! They are so good! I have hunted high and low for them since I discovered how good they are. The asian grocery that I originally bought them from doesn't stock them anymore... I'm still on the hunt, so if you find some online I'd appreciate if you could share the website with me 😁
Thanks for watching and your kind feedback Kylie, it's always great to hear when folks enjoy my videos!
@@AmyOutdoors Nooooo! That is a shame. I have spotted them on eBay but they're not cheap. There's a seller in Victoria who has an 18 pack listed for $14.99 + $8.99 P&H. But having looked into the ingredients a bit more it is just milo, creamer/milk powder and sugar. You could always mix up your own 🤷♀️. I think that's what I'll end up doing lol.
You're most welcome, Amy. It is so good to see more women get out and go on adventures. Very inspiring. Keep up the awesome work!
@@TheMunkee85 oh wow, I think I paid about $8 for an 18 pack and I thought that was expensive! Thanks for the DIY option, I think I'll have to give it a go when I run out of the sachets too. 👍
@@AmyOutdoors Woah. That's a bit of a price difference, hey.
No trouble. I'm not sure how to go about storing it to make it convenient, moisture proof and cost effective packaging though. Whether mixing up a big batch and dosing out 20g serves into the vacuum/heat seal packaging would be worthwhile, I don't know. Anyway... I'll keep you posted if I figure something out lol
Watching this video from Malaysia... Great experience... I hope I can learn your editing skills to grow up my channel... Done subcribe... Thanks
Thanks mate, very kind of you!
@@AmyOutdoors most welcome
