I bought the standard JSAUX Mod case a month ago and feel it is totally worth it. The Mod Case is my 3rd Steam Deck case, and the best one I have used so far.
Got mine the other week, absolutely love it! The fan mod on the back is one of my favourite features. I orginally bought the clip on fan by Jsaux ans although brilliant, i was always scared of scratching my deck attaching it, with this case the new fan slides on with ease and keeps my deck nice and cool😎
I was going to pick one up but I decided to spend the extra $ and opted for the DBrand one. The included front skin options gave me a layer of customization I really enjoyed
I got the same one but I regret it now. The front cover damages the bottom and top of the rubber cover. It looks really bad now so I'm going to be replacing it with this one.
@@benblitzkrieg The Killswitch has 3 rubber sections where the top cover slots over. Since the top cover slides over those to slot in, it rubs very harshly and over time it damages and makes it look bad. If you don't care about how that looks, then it shouldn't be a problem. Also, if you don't plan to get the front cover, it's fine. But mine looks terrible now. I don't even use it.
@@ghost-type dang thats bad, I plan to use the front cover and thats like half the reason why I plan to get it. In that case then maybe just get the killswitch without the front cover and put it inside the original carrying case for transport? Do you know if it will fit?
@benblitzkrieg I don't think it will fit the carrying case. It's too bulky from what I remember. I'm currently using a skull co case that fits the carrying case. It's cheap but feels nice.
The kickstand hinge wears out overtime and flops about. That's the one complaint I have with mine. Shifting the steam neck around causes the hinge to flop and hit back on the case, which can be distracting. I've started carrying the deck around without the kickstand.
how have you been? I haven't watched your videos lately coz I have been so busy but I just bought a steam deck and I bought this jsaux but without the fan.. I can't wait for my steam deck to arrive on Monday
I've had this case since it released. The case is great BUT that kickstand hinge looses the stiffness pretty quickly and now starts dangling freely as a play. It's a bit annoying but other than that I love the case.
The only downside of this case for me is not covering everything in the front (near the handles) when the hard lid is not on. I really want to make everything as fingerprint-proof as possible haha
I don't love that they seem to have largely just copies Dbrand's homework, but if it comes in at a cheaper price, then that's good. I've had the Killswitch on since I received my pre-order, and it's never coming off. I feel, personally, that one should not be using the Deck without a case and screen protector as some light insurance.
Yeah it's definitely a clone but it's much cheaper, for me in the UK Dbrands case is $80 + probably $40 or more in shipping/tax etc. whereas I can just buy this in the UK for $30.
"I'd loveto hear your thoughts" -- I think you just sold me on this case. It's properly form-fitting unlike the than the $10-20 range, with 1/3 of the price of the KillSwitch? Yeah, this seems like a buy.
I like it. It looks as if they've taken the Killswitch case and actually made it a bit better, which is a shame for me consdering I have the Killswitch case.
In a way, I still find the Killswitch to be slightly better quality and if they come out with more accessories than I wouldn't really find any nickpicks. Some of the things I also don't like about the other one is that even though metal seems cool, metal on plastic is a bad idea and wears it down over time. Just small things I guess and I still like the way the Killswitch feels in the hands better. Just my 2 cents is all.
They need to be at most 2mm high thumbsticks. I have the Skull & Co ones and the smaller 2mm caps barely fit. Also have the Dbrand caps and they don fit well because they are 3mm tall.
I would like to know if you can put that jsaux mod case inside of the tomtoc bag i think it would be super protective plz let me know because i have the mod case
Yes the jsaux case fits in the carrying bag that the steamdeck comes in with, but without the front cover, I've bought a jsaux case myself and have been putting it in the carrying bag for about a year now, at first its a really tight fit but after awhile the carrying bag will adapt to the extra girth of the case, has been a year now and there are no damages caused to my steamdeck
I like the idea of this case. Do you think the front plate could detach accidentally in a backpack ? Maybe a Tomtoc slim case could be better. I like the kickstand but again I have seen some comments about it becoming loose over time and that could be annoying. If it’s modular is there any option to buy a spare kickstand if this happens 🤷♂️
I have both the Spigen case and this Jsaux ModCase and the Jsaux is more confortable because the case covers all the way the front Steam Deck handles. The Spigen is very nice and sleek case but this one is more gripier. The one thing I dont like of this one is the front cover, my front cover is very tight to put and to remove, It scratches the bottom and upper part of the case, like big bad white scratches. I put the cover just like 3 times and my new case is all scratched.
@@128KB You get what you pay for. The tactile feel of the KS makes a device that FEELS ridiculously cheap/hollow into a solid piece of tech. Amazing grip. Sounds crazy but if you know you know. I'm not going to knock anyone for going cheap... But if one can afford it, the KS is thee way to go.
100% agree. I went KS because of the quality and the included front skin customization. A buddy of mine had the JSAUX and they both feel great, however after awhile his hinge got pretty loose and the bands elasticity was beginning to show some wear and tear.... he now has a KS case as well.
I bought the Jsaux case/cooler bundle I've ended up using the back and putting it back in the default case because carrying it around with the cover without a handle is kind of annoying to me. The only thing is the extra girth from having the back on is probably pressing down on the sticks a little too much.
Yeah I get you, I've just got the new skull & co grip that can be used with the official case so you don't need to put it on/off again. Really digging it, will do a video soonish

Does the Deck fit in the original carrying case with this Jsaux back cover?
@@sarthakvinchurkarseems doubtful
Definitely recommend one of these style cases to protect your deck. I have the Dbrand Killswitch and love it.
Yeah great design!

Bah that's frustrating and I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I started experiencing this recently. Also thanks to the video I finally removed the modular piece that covers the valve logo lol

I bet if it is dropped the top pops off and the steam deck hits the ground. I would have to see a test first.
This case has a trucker, construction worker, gym bro and gun bro aesthetic. MAKE IT PINK ma dude !
Haha they totally should do different colours, I'd rock a pink one
This is what I was looking for. Thank you.
I just bought this case, now I'm lookimg for a different one. One that has space for a AC adapter, cords, maybe a power bank, and earphones.

The dock sleeve is for the deck to fit on the official dock with the modcase
Yeah, I say that in the video.
Why does nobody ever mention the storage in the kickstand for sd cards?

@@S1RLANC3 I would like to second that, I am happy, very very happy with the killswitch case :)
@@128KB I'd argue it's better since it's cheaper and the front cover on this doesn't seem like it will damage the back piece.
About thumbstick caps, do you think there is enough space left for them or the hard shell pushes sticks down, like in other cases?
There's enough space, haven't had an issue with this one

Not a single chance from what I can tell. The front plate is very solidly clamped on.
Will the front plate still fit with a screen protector?
Is there a place to attach a wrist strap?
Does the deck fit in the official valve dock with the case on?
Yes with the included dock sleeve that the jsaux modcase comes with. Thats what the sleeve is used for
Yes with the included sleeve
Does anyone know how does this case compares with the Spigen Rugged Armor case? The front cover of this case is interesting.

I bought this for the airplane because the steam deck case is too big for the airplane.
I love it! Best case ever!
Amazing isn't it!
I have this one and its perfect
Glad you love it too
The ONLY case for the SD is Dbrands Killswitch! Hands down, no competition!
Dbrand Killswitch $80+ shipping etc to UK, that's well over $100, this is almost the same thing but $30, I know what I'd be buying.
