Gwendoline Christie is lowkey a fashion icon. Between being the muse of her significant other Giles Deacon, the British fashion designer, her propensity for taking fashion risks on the red carpet, she always wears something with intent, never something thrown together by a stylist; wearing and collaborating with young and up-and-coming designers or smaller labels, and she’s even walked the runway for Miu Miu and Tomo Koizumi. But most-importantly she’s both a true student of fashion and genuinely seems to enjoy it at the same time. In such a self-serious industry it’s delightful to see a celebrity who loves fashion more than just superficially. Gwendoline reminds me of a Tilda Swinton, Tracee Ellis Ross, Cate Blanchett, Janelle Monáe, Björk or Solange like person who embraces fashion wholeheartedly as an art form in and of itself as well as a means to express themselves creatively.
