Dr. Gregg Codelli: My goal is to help people not only live longer but to enjoy life more fully. It's the way this profession moves. The passion is that things change for the betterment of human life. So every day when I get up, I'm blessed that I have a passion and that passion is, I'm going to improve somebody's life.
Female patient: Cancer, in and of itself, affects you in so many ways, emotionally, physically, medically, psychologically, just all of the above. And it can be a very deep, dark, kind of hole that you crawl into. You don't smile very often.
Male patient: I didn't allow myself to get photographed very often. I didn't smile in public. If I did, it was a very tight-lipped smile. I was chipping teeth. I would break teeth while eating something crunchy. My teeth were hypersensitive to cold and I was just uncomfortable, in general.
Dr. Codelli: One of my first questions for them after I review their history is, "How can I help you? What's your concern?" Because your concern might be actually different from your need. So we have to figure out what their perceived concern is first. And that's a conversation that sometimes takes a little longer than most people think, but that's the first question.
Male patient: When I met with Dr. Codelli, we sat down and I think we talked for about an hour on my first consultation and just went over what the possibilities were. What he said was, "I can fix it. I can make it stop." That's what I heard.
Female patient: What really sets Dr. Codelli apart is the human side. He got to know me as a person. He knows a little bit about my family. He knows my husband. He knows my child. That's important. That personalizes things whenever you're working with a medical professional.
Dr. Codelli: The human touch is probably the most important thing coupled with caring for the person as patient.
Female patient: It doesn't matter if they're triple board-certified. To me, that's important to have that connection and feel the warmth from the doctor and feel like he cares about you. And Dr. Codelli has always been that with everyone I know and myself. [music]
Male patient: I'm very grateful to the team here and the way that they treated me. They still treat me like family. They've changed my life and I don't hesitate to let them know it every time I come in the door and every time I leave. [music]
