It's interesting how you have to clean after the last tenant, in my country you have to clean until it's IMMACULATE before you move out; the landlord does super thorough inspections to approve it and everything.

You're absolutely correct. In my country, if one is renting, they most likely paid a Security Deposit at the time of signing the Lease, which is refunded once the tenant moves out and depending on the condition they left the apartment/house in. Most landlords would thoroughly clean all their apartments, including painting, if required. If it was determined that unnatural damages occurred during occupancy, then repairs are deducted from the Security Deposit. By unnatural damages, I mean if a brand new carpet was installed at the time of Lease Signing, yet is completely damaged just 1 year later, that tenant would have to pay. However, if the tenant lived in the apartment for 10 years, then a damaged carpet might be considered as just normal wear-n-tear for 10 years. When I was renting, I always took great care of what belonged to the Landlord and thoroughly cleaned the apartment and appliances as I wanted all of my Security Deposit returned to me.
Congrats on the move. I do have to say that I find all that water damage very disturbing. And why doesn’t the landlord do necessary repairs and paint the walls before allowing a new tenant to move in? As for a suggestion…I think you should get a bed frame instead of keeping your mattress on the floor. It allows for air flow underneath the mattress and stops mold from forming.

Best wishes in your new home! So great that you have air conditioning and running water. Good for you for putting your food in plastic containers. I put my ground coffee in a glass container and last week I accidentally dropped it. What a mess, glass shards and coffee grounds everywhere. I learned my lesson. Not sure if you have mice that get in, but if there's a chance of that you might want to put your granola bars in a plastic container, too. Thanks for taking us along on your new adventure.

Such a great place when I moved in there was no carpet in the front and bedroom so I had to put carpet down in the hall , paint the whole place put lino in the bathroom and kitchen it was a night mare loll

in your country it is probably the best apartment you can get with clean water and electricity, probably nothing more, you have to pay extra for internet
There’re several nice and better apartments here. It all depends on your budget

Hahah.. it’s an empty apartment so you buy your own appliances. My fridge is in the living room due to the space
