Most terrifying thing I’ve ever done. Thank you Red Nose Day. ❤️
Had you ever sung opera before? You're a natural. I was blown away!
You were stunning
You absolutely slayed!
You were wonderful!
You were amazing!
Jayde Adams and Caroline Quentin could train to be opera singers tbh. They've got powerful voices and my god, Caroline has control of her diaphragm and the dynamics! She could totally train for this!
Caroline was a West End musicals actress before doing TV comedy roles. She was in the chorus of the original cast of Les Misables.
agreed
Holy shit! I mean!!! Come on!!!! Jayde and Caroline SLAYED it! Amazing!!
I mean that WAS a disaster, but nowhere near the disaster all of us had expected, and those two ladies!!! Omfg. Is that possible that Jade choose the wrong career? And I certainly did not expect Caroline to have such a voice.
Yes two of them nailed it but now I realize just how hard it is to set up. The first and second singers had the hardest part, setting up for the familiar crescendo. Love this .
💜🌷👍🏼
I think Caroline has had some training there, some amazing moments from her.
THE. PIPES. ON. THEM. WOW WOW WOW!
@@freshname Caroline has been in Les Mis
0:53 Jennifer cracking up at her own joke was absolutely fabulous.
The joke wasn’t even funny but I still laughed because of her laugh. 😂
I see what you did there.
I see what you did there...
@@jessieboo4u SAME!
One year later and I'm still, regularly, coming back to this vid just to see that clip.
Come on, own up: who was expecting this to be WAY worse than it actually was? 🙋🏼♂️
For 5 comedians - not professional singers - to deliver a performance like this with 24 hours notice is absolutely miraculous.
Bra-bloomin’-vo.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Holy crow Caroline Quentin and Jayde Adams! Pitch and pronunciation perfect! I swear, Caroline is a Renaissance woman; gardener, actor, artist, and singer! The others did very well also. Beautiful!
I studied opera, went to college for it. Don’t sing professionally, but I’ll still sing from time to time. I wouldn’t choose this song to sing. Like, at all. These 5 should be proud of themselves. This was not easy.
It looks like a hard song to sing. As someone who has absolutely no knowledge of opera or how to sing it, what makes it so challenging?
The woman in the dress w birds has crazy good overtones, seldom heard in professionals.
@@mademoiselledusfonctionell1609 I recognized Caroline Quentin from a comedy and drama that I watched in the 1990s. Her tone was amazing. I had no idea she could sing opera.
It is a brilliant aria. High pitched, sad and emotional! I used to cry whenever I heard it being sung. It would bring to mind, my father's passing. I still get goosebumps.
@@shqa574 A natural.
Jayde Adams and Caroline Quentin WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can't stop thinking about Patsy Stone in the audience smoking and watching Eddy singing opera 😆😆🤣🤣🤣
Caroline and Jayde are naturals
They can sing - unlike the other three - but brave for giving it a go. I remember Lulu appearing with Jennifer Saunders in a couple of shows. Made me realise what a good actor JS was. The actor with the best voice I've ever heard is Minnie Driver. The comedian ditto is Jason Manford.
Really wonderful
I was so impressed by Jayde and Caroline, stunningly good voices and were so moving.
The two of them were amazing
They were great
The result was actually so much better than what I expected. That being said, my biggest takeaway from this is that I desperately want this to be the next cast of Taskmaster.
Goes to show you: talented people are often multi-talented. I’m pretty sure Jennifer Saunders can walk on water!
And quick sand too🎉❤ loved your singing in Shrek and your amazing comedy talents. I’m a devoted fan from across the pond in New York
When Alex smiled after his 'solo' piece... it was beautiful
To be fair to him, if he’d had longer to perfect and prepare I think he would have been up there with Caroline and Jayde. I’m hardly an expert, but it felt like he had the voice but struggled with the language too much to fully use it.
"That part over - yay!"
The shock on their faces when watching the aria sung by a professional😆 Applaud all their efforts, even though only Caroline and Jayde had pure tone and pitch. Truly appreciate their bravery!
Caroline sang West End musicals, she's on the original London cast of Les Mis.
Superstars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Caroline Quentin has such a beautiful voice, she is really the best of the lot.
For not one of them being a professional singer let alone opera singer they absolutely smashed that!
Who would have thought they could pull this off. Hats off to you all.
You honestly think they pulled it off? I mean, it’s great for charity, but it was terrible.
@@tnmtemerity For non-musicians to learn in 24 hours? And sing in front of a full house? It was bloody good.
The worst was the man - he has no musical ear.
This one lady (Jayde?) clearly knows how to sing and actually sang very well.
The others 20/20 for courage🤗
The The
@@claireofarrell1552 the band you mean?
My god Caroline can really sing.
I'd love to know where she got her jacket from its gorgeous.
the jacket came from a designer called Beatrice von Tresckow who has shops in Cheltenham and London.
The opera singer at the start though! He didn't even turn the last vincero into a vencaaaraaa, which is freaking hard and amazing.
Jayde and Caroline can sing. Jayde had power and Caroline had control.
I'm crying and clapping right here in my bed. In Maryland. A year later. That was one of the most wonderful things I've ever ever seen or heard.
Omg Caroline and Jayde were amazing they all did an amazing job
Caroline said LET ME RAIS THE BAR !!!!!!!!!! I was in tears !!!!!
Caroline Quentin what a voice.
Andi's adorable "This is my excited, everything's going to be fine face." As it is, Nessun Dorma gives me chills every time, but oh.my.god that was brilliant! Congratuwelldone!!
Wow awesome
Me, too! I used to break down and cry when I heard the aria.
Caroline and Jayde were amazing but it was an excellent performance by all for 24 hours of practice
Jennifer Saunders list! 😂 humidifier, dehumidifier and some humidi. White towels and hot water in case I give birth 😂😂😂
Don’t forget the grey goose 🦢
@@sfyc oh yes!! 😂
“Some humility.. otherwise whats the point?” Got me 🤣🤣 She’s brilliant!
Not only the demands of daunting operatic music but to learn the Italian as well! But ... don’t you wish you could see some clips from their rehearsals?
How good was Caroline 😍 you can tell she's into singing already she's a great voice
amazing! the look on Alex's face when he realised he'd pulled it off 😊
Jennifer laughing at her own jokes is brilliant
The jokes were hilarious!
@@MaxVliet I know she just makes me laugh out loud I love how funny she finds herself too 😂
Obviously Jayde Adams is a classically trained singer. So unexpected! She was very good!!! Caroline had training too. They did the heavy lifting. Bravo to all!!!
Jayde ,I am a real opera fanatic and I must say that you were absolutely fantastuc -in just one day! You have a very good voice, also Caroline, you both sounded great-very well done, very brave and for a good cause.Bless you all !
I'm amazed how accents disappear in singing. Jayde and Caroline were incredible, the all put in a brilliant effort, especially for 24hrs!
Expected crap, but with laughs... got actual talent, wow!
I haven't seen Caroline Quentin in years but was thinking about her the other day after watching an old Jonathan Creek - awesome to see her again, wow she aged beautifully!
If Dawn French would have rode across stage on a tricycle I would have wet myself laughing.
They did amazingly well.... Jayde was stunning
Alex, so happy to nail his part is a mood I can love!
Yes, did you see his smile after he finished his section. Loved it.
So beautiful, Caroline and Jayde especially
The 2 ladies in the front just took it away! Great job, guys!
I thought Jayde was an opera singer as well as a comedian though because I've seen her sing Nessun Dorma before on the stand up sketch show. Now wondering if she's just a bloody natural who filmed this first and used it for her comedy after 🤔
Jayde's been using opera in her stand up for some time but she's never trained as an opera singer, she just taught herself. She's got stories about wanting to join the choir at school, that are better told by her, so I'll let you discover all of those yourself (I think she talks about it on her radio 4 special). And yes, she's always had a lovely voice, but this is clearly some next level shit!
@@HollieDollie79 haha next level shit indeed, thanks for the info 😊
2 (Jayde and Caroline) were fantastic. The other 3 gave it a good go. Well done to all 5 for being so brave.
Jaw dropping incredibly good, we knew Caroline could sing but not like that.
Did not know she could. What a thrill to hear her!
Jayde Adams sounds like a professional opera singer but equally there all so good.
I had no idea Caroline Quentin could sing so beautifully! I'm not a Brit, and I'm only familiar with her and Jennifer Saunders.
Jennifer killed it when she sang "Holding out for a hero" in Shrek! She smashed this as well! Who would down vote this!?
Being somewhat proficient in Italian served her well here.
It’s amazing that so many people don’t know that Caroline Quentin was in the original cast of Les Miserables in London. I can always pinpoint her voice in Lovely Ladies on the cast recording! I’m kind of obsessed with her as well lol
Jennifer owns my heart ❤️
So much about singing is confidence and just giving it a mighty go. They all did a great job considering the skill and training required to sing any aria. What a brave and great thing to do for charity! Caroline and Jayde clearly have really substantial voices. Great stuff.
Alex and Caroline’s smiles when they know they’ve smashed it is everything 💙💜
My Canadian eyes only recognize Jennifer, but the other gals in the front row might want to think about including Light Opera or Musical Theatre in their pursuits...
Caroline and Jayde are both very successful comics and actors, don't know if they'd have the time. The were suprisingly good, especially for a 24 hour turnaround.
Caroline was lead in Jonathan Creek, together with Alan
That was absolutely incredible! So much better than I was expecting from everyone, with a couple of them being totally as incredible as the professionals.
Jade and Caroline were amazing - but good on the others for giving it a go.
Speechless they were fantastic really moved by their courage to have taken this epic song on Congratulations everyone Proud of you .
i lost both my grandparents this past year, i grew up on their farm. seeing you sing this is the first time i have cried for a good reason in a long time. thank you, What an amazing song and amazing courage to do it.
Jayde was outstanding, motto bravo everyone.
Yet another display, if it was needed, of the astounding courage that actors and comedians exhibit when performing.
Hats off to all public performers.
Caroline and Jayde, BRAVA!!!
This is my favourite song......makes me cry every time. I was completely surprised with how well you all did.....AND....I cried. Congratulations! Well done and thank you from Canada 🇨🇦.
I cried too
It's not a song.
@@FreakieFan I know....aria....scusa
@@silk2949
Indeed 😁
@@FreakieFan Thanks Mr Mastroianni
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS ‼️ Still moved by the amazing performance and the humor they all brought to this huge endeavor
Anyone who knows anything about opera, knows that what these 5 people achieved in 24 hrs is pretty special.👏🏽
Wow, mad respect, I would be absolutely terrified in that situation - there again, I quite literally couldn’t hold a single note if my life depended on it. Love all of them to pieces for doing this
Same, I would've passed out or been sick. Kudos to all of them!
I giggled so much in the beginning. So entertaining. And then you all started singing. And my whole body was goosebumps. Chills. JOY. My. Word. You are all magnificent. Rushed right over to donate.
Every time I hear the music I get goosebumps. This song is so powerful.
I don't know the comedians, but what courage!! :) :) The two ladies, Jayde and Caroline sounded good and saved the day! :) Some talent there. : ) :)
Who knew! Caroline and jaydee was amazing!! Good work on everyone. :)
I love Jennifer 💕🤣
Just watch it again.... Still bloomin' amazing of all of you.
This was just unbelievable. I mean just to learn the words is hard enough but WOW
There was SO much heart in this performance, it gave me goosebumps. Well done folks!
The most heart warming performance ever. Love their style. Brilliant and well done.
Jayde and Caroline NAILED IT!
Jayde Adams was Phenomenal!!!
I've always loved Jennifers voice 😊
I don't know why, but me not knowing whether they're crying because they think it's beautiful or at the thought of singing it themselves, is just making me laugh so hard LOL.
Lol I think it was a combo crying!
Crying from relief it’s over, and also bc they did a good job considering the high bar set before them.
Jayde Adams! The lady has a VOICE!!!
Jayde Adams blew my mind!
The "well done Slytherin... however" music 😆
Also, for non-opera singers - and this coming from the perspective of someone who knows nothing about opera singing - they were pretty bloody fire 🔥🔥
Did this music play at the end of HP1 when Dumbledore made Gryffindor win?
Bravi tutti and fantastically bravissime, Jayde and Caroline! I'm blown away.
Caroline Quenton can sing OMG.
I'd have loved to see some of their coaching-- operatic vocal exercises are hilarious even when the singers aren't comedians.
Wow that's brave. Only in the UK haha. No way would they ever do this in the US lol. Certain parts was cringey as was expected but I was really blown away by Caroline and Jayde.
24hours only. I could not pull this off even the words would be mumbled. Cringey is not a word I would use. This is MAGNIFICENT!
@@marilynseptember21 nor would I. Not a cringe in sight here. Fablouso! ❤
Beyond Fabulous and very Brave. The universe was showing off when they were made.
Australia 1.27am
I'm in a choir and 24 hours to learn these parts in harmony with each other is fantastic. Red-haired woman was amazing, what a voice - sorry didn't get her name.
Well done Alex Brooker. I think you have the makings of a great singer.
*That was very good in a day and Wow Caroline and Jayde were naturals😱👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼well done guys👍🏼*
Well, that wasnt what I was expecting! Hats off to them!
I did a search for Caroline Quentin singing after her Adele emulation on "I am sorry I haven't a clue". She has a truly outstanding voice. I would love to hear much more !
Ok, I love this song so I expected it to be terrible and I was just BLOWN AWAY!!! Considering the parameters, this was above and beyond my expectations. Well done all!!
It's not a song.
That was 100 % pure entertainment from 5 brave comedians. I wish we could find that artistry (is that even an English word?) in Sweden.
🇸🇪🤣😂🇸🇪
Yes, artistry IS an English word. We have a tradition of "having a go". I was always told when I was learning to sing "sing with a confidence you don't feel and the confidence will come". People will forgive you if you're seen to be genuinely trying - especially if it's for charity as this was.
@@Sunflowers1591Dance as if you thought no one was watching, is another advice. 😊
Well done from a teacher in Rome, introducing kids here to Red Nose Day.
Congratulations to all of them. Probably the most scariest thing anyone one of them has every done. Totally out of their collective comfort zones. It wasn't about how good they were, it was all about participating.
Jennifer Saunders is amazing!
This is so lovely. I was so proud of all of them. Reminds me to challenge myself and to do what scares me because it can inspire others to do the same. You all give me hope in difficult times. Thank you and love and hugs to these brave and talented people! - xoxo from the US
Wow! Most humbling! Was NOT expecting that!
Oh, my goodness. They took it completely seriously and knocked the breath out of me.
No many like opera but this aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot always gets audiences fired up. A brave group of 5 who pushed through the fear barrier to perform it on behalf of the welfare of others.
Absolutely uplifting to watch! Our celebrities proved that they can stir the the emotions of the country along with all those humanitarians who have striven to make the best of a situation in very testing times!
Absolutely BRILLIANT!!
Absolutley WONDERFUL!! What a mountain you have climbed. Also congratulations to the fantastic singing teachers/coaches you must have had.
I thought this was absolutely fabulous, for these comedians to sing nessun dorma with 24 hrs prep, Brava
