- Labour's Angela Rayner speaks to Sky News’ political editor Beth Rigby in an extended interview for the Daily podcast.
The party’s deputy leader says that she believes Diane Abbott should be able to stand as an MP - and she denied leader Sir Keir Starmer was acting "in a factional way".
On the first official day of campaigning, she also spoke about the investigations into her living arrangements - and revealed the details of her campaign battle bus.

It speaks volumes about Keir Starmers judgement that he has trusted Angela totally throughout her trials. As for Angela, watch out for ginger sparks on the campaign trail. The Tories have failed again, she's back and up for the fight !!!

Love, Angela Rayner, a down-to-earth woman who I can really relate to, not some rich Eton boy who never had to worry about money.
Rayner is fantastic. So glad she’s on the campaign trail now, she’s the shadow cabinet’s best voice.
What a waste of police time and Angela’s time investigating the charges of non-payment of taxes! She already said she would pay the small amount of money back if there was an accounting error! Can’t the bloody Tories come up with something better if they want to mess about in the mud pit?

A fairly soft ball interview, probably with some justification. I have a lot of time for AR, I don’t agree with everything she says or stand for. It was a fairly ugly attempt to politically assassinate a genuine threat. A woman. A working class intelligent northern woman, who can fight her own battles, who is going to be coruscated over the next few years- she frightens them all.

I'm fairly sure that's regarding sexual assault particularly within parliament? There's a difference between investing someone for tax and someone being investigated for sexual assault on a colleague?
One is an issue of safety. That's why they want people to be prevented from coming to work while under investigation.

I'm a big fan of Angela's. My only problem with this whole thing is that she bought her council house in the first place. Should our next Housing Minister be one who clearly buys into such a Thatcherite philosophy? Maybe society has gone too far now, but it did disappoint me from her.
