He not trash or washed, he's in a bad system where has to play through russ and be a spot up shooter whens more than that. Hes was uncomfortable in his role and thats understandable but NBA fans just dont realize that and call him trash
J.G. Prod Definitely agree. Melo's never been trash. Actually a dope basketball player on average teams or like you said in the wrong system. The best squad that he was on was Denver but he needed another top player with Billups.
I do agree that his defense is suspect but Melo can ball and has never been trash or is no way near washed!

Disagree completely. He needs to adjust to his role because he can’t be the best player on a championship team and it’s debatable if he can be the second best player on a championship team. His iso game ruins the offense because it doesn’t have people getting involved.

Notice how majority of his success came from either the post, fastbreak, or a shot off the dribble. Yes he’ll hit a catch and shoot 3, but solely using him in this category will set him up for failure. That’s why he failed with the Thunder. He’s a rhythm basketball player. He’s the type of player who is better shooting a *contested mid-range shot off the dribble* rather than an open 3 pointer. It sounds idiotic, but a basketball player would understand. Sometimes rhythm alone is enough to make a crazy shot go in. He has to get hot first before he steps out of his boundaries. I know because I myself find shots off rhythm rather than catch and shoot. Melo still has I’d say 1-2 years left in him. He just needs to be on a team that can commit to him and surround him around vets who have high IQ and are willing to sacrifice.

I totally agree with that as a ball player it's easier for me to get a rhythm starting in the midrange and create a little space for slightly contested pull ups or stepbacks or fade aways rather than just standing still and launching threes. Just being able to dribble into a shot gives me more confidence than just catching and shooting. So yea I agree its different for certain players.
I agree, me being a SF means my team sets me up in mid range a lot of the time and it usually takes around 3-4 contested shots for me to get hot or to get in rhythm

TBH I think if Melo, Russ & PG stay one more season they'll get it right. Chemistry takes time, no Melo is not near washed up at all, he can still average 20+ a game if he wanted to, but OKC also didnt use him right at all. They made him a catch & shoot player when they forgot he can be a bully in the post

Most loyal player in the league. He stayed in New York even though he was being mistreated by Phil Jackson yet he still stayed. Went to OKC and had his role reduced. He may have gone down a bit but he still can hoop. I hope he finds a home that appreciates and respects him as one of the greatest players in history. Much love and respect. #cometopelicans

Carmelo Anthony is my favorite player of all time so this season was kind of hard to watch for me. I need to see the old Carmelo next season. I really hope that Carmelo wins a championship in his career. But from what I've seen this season, it looks like it might never happen.

I don't think he's still got it without making huge changes to his training and fitness. Ever since his knee surgery his game hasn't been the same. Legs aren't there and he struggles putting to good offensive halves together. Not quick enough to beat his man to the rim and not enough lift on his shot to sink it consistently.
Maybe if he pulls a Duncan and comes in way lighter and slimmer than usual, he can get some of his game back, but Idk if he can at this point. Age and injuries are a real problem for players past 30.
The man is 34, he's getting old. Of course his efficiency is going to go down. I wouldn't say he is washed up though. The problem is all the kids see Lebron and don't realise that most players go downwards in their early 30s. Just go back and watch younger, healthy Melo in the 2012-13 season he had with the Knicks. He was a monster that year!

If the Brooklyn Nets can't get any of Parker/Randle/Gordon, Melo should be next up. They are competing to win now and with a more balanced team, he could really elevate that team.

For me melo is a shooting guard, so i think he fits to play with lebron they can make that. Because as kobe said LeBron is a good facilitator and then he is a finisher. Like melo who like to shoot and score so for me if LeBron and Melo team up, i put melo at shooting guard when only in offense but when it comes to deffense they got to go switch with LeBron who is more faster to guard shooting guards and melo can guard the forward position for me i think thats a good idea.

I still think this could have worked. Russ needed to be sat down and told to stop shooting threes and contested midranges (which he cant make) and work on making PG the #1 scoring option. While Melo should be taking 10-15 shots a game. Melo should've also been told to take more efficient shots and pass out whenever he got double teamed.
