I remember when Heyday dropped - came out of nowhere. It was written for the show Street Man Fighter, which was a dance competition show amongst different dance teams in Korea. I had this song on repeat!
Tortoise and the Hare is one of my all-time faves...definitely went against conventional rap styles. It felt much more like a classical piece of music called "Peter and the Wolf" by Prokofiev - which used different instruments to represent the different characters. This song using cadence, flow, and rhythm to represent the two opposing sides of wanting to be like the tortoise versus being like the hare. Plus the use of nursery rhymes and wordplay really makes this piece a wild ride. I certainly respect it's not everyone's cup of tea.

If I'm allowed I'm just going to rant a bit here, so: For Heyday, it it pretty self explainatory, I liked everything but I wanted to comment on the "Pikachu pika pika" part because who else if not 3RACHA is going to put that in a serious song where they rap like gods? Also they are so creative with the ad libs and stuff like "drr pow" or Chan's entire chorus are permanently stuck on my mind.
With Tortoise and the Hare, there are some references to children's bedtime stories like Heungbu and Nolbu and of course, the tortoise and the hare. At the end there's also Changbin singing Korean nursery rhymes. They compare characters from those tales and extract parts of the nursery rhymes to support the main message of the song, which is to live at one's pace and not worry about what others do or expect from you. They say it's better to go slowly and keep progressing like the tortoise rather than hurrying to reach a goal and then exhausting ourselves and giving up like the hare. And they want us to have Nolbu's attitude, who was able to mess around and enjoy life while also working. Because even when someone is fast, "they will come back to where they started anyway" so there's no point in speedrunning life, just "CHILL" and enjoy it xd
They play a lot with the tempo, for instance when I.N sings "faster" very slowly, then Han says "slowly" extremely fast. It's a contrast I really like, and then Han saying that even if you have to crawl it's okay and you'll get there eventually is genuinely reassuring for me. And one last thing, when they sing at 7:15 and it's Lee Know's turn, he says "I know, you know, we know, Lee Know". I know, mindblowing.
Heyday is now in my daily rotation lol

You probably want to react to Side Effects + performance video (which is like dance practice). This is a... crazy song. Side Effects is similarly like Tortoise and Hare their most controversial song with many fans loving it and many hating it. But while Tortoise and Hare is just random B-side track... Side Effects is one of their TITLE tracks. You have no idea what it caused in k-pop scene.
