OMG this video brought back so many memories... My best friend had the game and we always played 2 player. I was terrible but loved it so much. Over time I forgot the name and have spent the past couple of years casually wondering what the heck the name of it was. Finally found out and was so glad to see there was a video of it :) Thanks for the memories!!
Damn this looks so much better on the PS2 than it did on the PS1. I love it when people actually upload footage from a console instead of a friggin emulator, so we can see what the gameplay SHOULD look like.
Ah, right, THAT'S what the other PS1 underwater game I was thinking of was called! Thank you for reminding me. This game actually looks really cool, how the hell did I not know about this one of SingleTrac's sooner? It basically is Twisted Metal with submarines, haha. That soundtrack is actually amazing too, but SingleTrac's OSTs always were in general. Really wish I had gotten this one now, actually saw it in our local game store but didn't get it like an idiot, as I knew nothing about the game. Got Twisted Metal 3 instead :P ugh, what a piece of crap compared to the first 2 especially. I do like the combat system itself in the game I guess, but not much more beyond that, it's just too corny for Twisted Metal, lol. Well, let's just hope Critical Depth is still there, if not I guess I could always burn it :P real copy would be nice, though.
I loved this game, always played with the Manta but, sure, liked to play with other subs sometimes. great game, yeah, better action with single player than many games we have now.
Never heard about this game before but its soundtrack is really top tier stuff. The game looks awesome for a ps1 game too and the effects are spot on. Found another gem after all these years.
The Sea Dog, that was always my favorite sub. It had the perfect balance of armor, speed, and weapon power. And (what I always assumed was a parrot) sqwaking every time you fired
This game came out before Rogue Trip and has a lot more innovations. It has a combo system where you can fire all your weapons after another but it costs mana(energy). you have two types of shields - one protective only and one reflective(but costs more energy). Some of the levels are really big and beautiful. Also those levels has very high number of secret passages. This car combat game is only second to Twisted Metal 2. Yes, it's THAT good! Good video my friend.
Man I love this game haha I remember playing the freaking Captain Cutless I would say he was the lucky one of all the characters lol I wish they made Critical Depth 2 at least like they did for Vigilante 8 on Xbox Live Market and Playstation Network Store and it would me Awesome especially the multiplayer online lol
Wow I Haven't Played This Game In Forever.... But It Was A Really Great Game..... I Think I'm Gonna Pull It Out And Play It Just For Old Memories... =)
@dave4shmups My Personal Favorite TM game is Twisted metal 2, but Twisted metal Black is also a really good one. I'm more biased towards 2, because it was my first in the series, but Black is also really good.
look at those graphics! god, how gaming has evolved lol...i remember many a day when my brother would beat me mercilessly with anarchy....i....i ALWAYS picked siren's song haha
I loved this game back in the PS1 days, I really wish they would make a sequel or reboot this game :)
the opening cinematic to this game scared the crap out of me as a child for some reason
haha
thats my childhood right there xD

Critical Depth plays more like Warhawk, another excellent PS1 game that was also developed by SingleTrac.
This video is 10 years old by now...
Nice. And with nice music, too.

I'd say that it plays more like Warhawk (1995) than Twisted Metal.
seems like warhawks controls with the gameplay idea of twisted metal.
boom....BWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAA!
@teh2Dgamer, is this fun in single-player mode? What do you think is the best game in the Twisted Metal series for single-player? I LOVE your videos!!
