  • We've got a brand new record in the making, soon to be launched across all major streaming music services. The album contains the tracks we recorded in Hölö kyrka in October 2023. We hope you enjoy this track - Hjärtstilla - from the coming record composed for us by the extremely talented Jesper Hagberg. Lyrics - Erik Axel Karlfeldt.

      Text:
      vandra i glöd som vid vådeldars ljus;
      höstblommor,
      tröstblommor,
      armt är ert sånglösa sus.
Now, translation is a whole different kinda beast. Hjärtstilla is a herbacious plant (motherwort in English), but it can be taken quite literally, and thus metaphorically, in this poem, as "stillness of the heart" (mirrored in the following smärtstilla - stillness/absence of pain; painkiller can also be translated to smärtstillande medel, literally pain stilling remedy. The author plays around with these ambiguities throughout the poem, so any attempt at translating it requires both a near perfect grasp of both languages and poetic creativity/license - which I'm afraid don't possess.

Maybe not the best translation but something. I love Zero8 ❤
Quiet and gloomy it is on the heath,
day sough and day light die.
The stars can be seen, and the wood
      shines from darkened trees.
Now that I arise from the intoxication of roses,
fled with summer's winds and light -
      heart quiet,
      pain reliever,
are you now blooming around my house?

      Shining grain lightnings draw
trail of fire on the path of sight,
      carve that storms chase
yet, although they have fallen silent around me.
Thunders that shook the firmament of my life,
late summer fires that the soul burned -
      heart quiet,
      pain reliever,
do you cool the sting they lit?
Listen, my heart! On the heath
trembles a last tone of suffering,
the huge nest of thunder island
echo farewell from the night blue bridge.
It was great to live in roses and intoxication,
      walk in a glow as by the light of wildfires;
      autumn flowers,
      comfort flowers,
      poor is your songless whisper.
