To admit to admiring...celebrating... the courage and inspiration of St. Francis...he in tern received the inspiration to confront the Pope with a call to arms...human arms... the likes our world has never known. What a great guy! I've always loved his acting and directing but didn't know much about him. I will definitely read about him because he seems like a fantastic person that thinks the same way I do. We need more people like him speaking out that have a voice that can be heard. Stephen is a fantastic guy also! How refreshing to watch in the present times we are in. God Bless everyone.

I am an atheist and this Pope almost makes me want to be religious. The only voice of the reason in the midst of all these "leaders". His humanity, his integrity, his humbleness, his love for unloved ones, his message of peace, all of these are the true teachings of Christ. He is so inspiring and I adore him.

I'd like Pope Francis to address the hardliner Catholics, especially in government, in the US and their unwillingness to actually follow the instructions of Christ in regards to loving one another, etc. Although, he probably already has, and they didn't listen, because it wasn't what they wanted to hear.
Its actually the evangelicals who hold the most backwards and radical beliefs. But in general its true that especially in the US people like to cherry pick the most extreme bits of the biblen (old and new testament) to justify their actions. Many of which are indeed incompatible with catholicism.

Stephen Colbert, you have an awesome show. I love it. Quite honestly, I didn’t start watching until COVID-19 lock down. So the first show that I watched was you in a suit in a bathtub full of bubbles.
Tom Clancy wrote a book in which the plot is similar to what Ethan Hawkes is suggesting. I can’t recall the name of the novel. At any rate, Pope Francis is the head of a nation state so he does have the ability to weld political power of he chooses to do so. Just because the Vatican is in Rome, it does not mean that it isn’t a country of its own.
I would love to see Pope Francis speak to Putin. Pope John Paul (the second) went to Cuba to speak to Castro after he was elected so there is precedent for such a thing. I think this is a brilliant idea. I know many will object but ending an unjust war where far too many people have died. Especially when you consider the deliberate attacks on schools, hospitals and other such places.

I’m glad there are people saying things like this. I’m a bit cynical after the past few years. It feels like 40% of the US and a good portion of the world just don’t want it to be this nice place where we’ve lived the way we have the past 100 years. But they don’t offer much in the way of alternatives. Short of “burn it all down”.

Think about the things that have happened over the course of that time....there has been a lot of good, but there has been an incredible amount of horrific too. This problem is as old as humankind. We can't make it go away. However, we CAN work on tipping the scale in the right direction. Then, we can try to ensure it remains love heavy.

I love this idea
a cross nation march by any people into the Ukraine for peace and non-violence, of any substantive size, would be mind blowing and exactly the sort of people-first thing the world has been lacking for many years.
Pope Francis may be a unifying moral authority for many, but I recently because aware of how hated he is by some conservatives in his own church (being called ‘satanic’ for instance, and illegitimate apparently because of expressing compassion for gay people a time or two too many)
It seems conservatives are only against things, no ideas how to love and forgive.

Perhaps if more people coveted kindness and altruism instead of money and greed, we'd have more Mother Teresa and Dalia Lamas in the world instead of hate and war.

I have a wonderful affiliation to Pope Frances. I do not hold to any religious ideology other than Self-reliance. I did feel in early 2021 that I needed to explore the Pope's history via Wiki. I must have been looking for an adventure, seeing I'm of retirement age. I wish I could tell you the amazing journey of the mind I have been on ever since.
He is the true Christian, full of love, compassion, forgiveness and once a year, pancakes!
