Before I left the island 24 yrs ago. You were able to drive all over the place. Right up to the lighthouse, the other side of the peninsula or right up to the beach. They've closed all that now. We used to camp out overnight and have the greatest times. Can't do that anymore :(
@CyberDame creo que por que a los alrededores hay depositos de sal si visitas veras que al entrar tambien al haber muchos mangles en el camino apesta y es arena como prieta al entrar despues que llegas es lo mas bello
Last time I visited Puerto Rico we went to Playa sucia and a security guard didn't let us go down the road in car, we had to walk. I guess they do it to keep the area clean. It's beautiful and clean, I hope they keep it that way. We went to el poblado as well.
Awesome, are there any other suggestions or tips you would give someone who is visiting this area? I am planning to take my girlfriend here in the next couple months as a surprise.
the road is hard for a small car. If you go with a small car park on the lighthouse ans walk like 5 minutes. If you wan to see pics and the map go to zeepuertorico (.) com and go to town->cabo rojo -> Playa Sucia
@handom85 You are correct. It's "La Playuela". Find it in Google Maps in the most south-western tip, beside Farro Los Morrillos. La Playuela is part of the "Bosque Estatal de Boquerón" or Boqueron State Forest, originally proclaimed in 1918 by Governor Arthur Yager. It also includes a national reserve and a wildlife reserve, among other things in the 4,629 acres area. You can arrange ecological tours with personnel from the Dept. of Natural & Environmental Resources if you call (787) 851-7260.
La Playuela. I am trying to find out if you can drive your car all the way down to the beach area. Does anyone know if you can park at the end of the road?

@mizliz32174 you have to understand locals call it "Playa Sucia"... and by that I mean people who live in the Oeste side of the island...
@HLCamacho playuela??? eres del corozo?
Aprendan el nombre correcto: esto es La Playuela, no se llama Playa Sucia. Cerca, dicidido por una franja de arena está Bahía Sucia, hacia el este.
What's better Blue Beach or La Playuela(Playa Sucia) can't decide :(
bueno yo he ido a esa playa y siempre me han dicho que se llama Playa Sucia asi que pues no se que controversia...
Porque la llaman playa sucia? La playa es Hermosa!!!!!
se parece a Flamenco en Culebra
