Those things cause me no end of grief.
You helped your team capping a base, spotting an enemy (although that won't work if your team can't speak english - wink wink), and running around trying to attack with the artillery and being a typewriter.
For your heroic deeds you get... let's say 500 RP. GG
(Have fun grinding for your next tank which can be a few ten thousand, later on even hundred thousand RP)
This isn't WoT, you get nothing for spotting and typing in chat... (maybe with a spotting system like in Battlefield? Pressing Q and stuff? Idk)
Right now the only use for light tanks is that it can flank quite well, and pop some shots into a tank's back. But for that purpose I would recommend something like a Hellcat.

+TredBobek You are well spoken, but even then, you can still use your other tanks in your line to research, say you use your light tank for the beginning of the battle to cap and alert, you could J out or get killed, and have enough points for another tank down the line, you got the points from capping as well as any other points you get from killing. It's why we have multiple crew slots, to use whatever tank is necessary for the situation at hand. (RB, Arcade can go die in a ditch. and there's no point in sim'ing in a Light)
Jet_725 To be honest I use that tactic (go in with a weak vehicle for fast points). But for that purpose I use my AA vehicles (the american half tracks are quite fast enough, and I usually don't encounter enemies when I reach the cap points. And it can use artillery as a smoke screen/attack move). AA is cheaper

+TheRed Hawk randoms can not be trusted, ever. A lot of none English speaking players play on the eu server, giving your efforts to inform your team random results.
One way to remedy this problem would be giving light tanks the ability to get an accurate marker on whatever you aim at, like how shooting an enemy pings the position.
This ability has to work on the ground as well, or else it would work like a scanner.

How to play light tanks.
Step 1 Choose american tech tree on the far left.
Step 2 Have fun using the M2A4 and the M3/M3A1
Step 3 You have now reached tier 2
Step 4 Play using the M5A1 and M22
Step 5 Why cant I pen any soviet tank anymore?
Step 6 CYKA DAVAI T34 100mm effective armor KV-1 200mm effective armor
Step 7 Get one shot every game your mobility is useless because even AA can easily kill you when you cant even scratch soviet tanks with your 100mm pen at close range
Step 8 Notice that for some reason T34 are almost as fast and even have faster reload than the M24 while at the same time having better armor and gun

Other comments have said it, but the game could really use a mechanic to reward spotting assists. People just won't play as a team unless you incentivize them.

How to play light tanks 101. Step one, dont play arcade, step 2, win.
Step Three, flank the Enemy spawn and Shoot them all in the back.

The game IS unbalanced its a fact... 1 battle rating difference is to big and 7.7 tanks should be in their own separate bracket they should actually be 8.0 or 8.1 rating. It's not even fun to play as ww2 tank and meet post-war and 1955 tanks.

The BR system isn't bad, the problem is the +-1.0 BR deviation. That means in a 5.7 IS-1, you can either be matched up with PzIVs, T-34s and Shermans - or King Tigers, T-44s, Pershings... Such a bullshit.
Not only the BR system i'm talking about. The fact that you go in a realistic battle, you have no idea which country you are going against and there is no way to choose which map would you prefer the most to play on. It's just awful. Sometimes you go on the same map 4-5 times in a row..

recon isint a valued play style there is no reward for it please fix this so you get a reward for spotting that is actually a viable way to go through the ranks.
All of these points rely on a team actually working together. Something that doesn't happen 50% of the time....

Sitting their typing out bullshit is how you die. Create an automatic reporting system for enemy locations.
Preferably one that does not lock onto the enemy but simply places a marker where you binocs are pointed.

They are also probably concerned about recreating the AAA mess at airfields such as exists in RB planes. Planes need not fight, if you are losing just hang out at your base.

If there is say more than3 people at your base you probably only got a 3rd or less of your team alive and the enemy team heavily overwelmed you. what's the difference of immediately being blown up at the gate out of the spawn or at the spawn and than dying 5 seconds later? The only difference I can see is some maps will allow you to take your newly spawned locust and run the other way hidding.... which isn't worth all the effort to fix...
However in the newer maps... well 1 of the desert maps they gave the options to spawn further back. This basically makes spawn camping nearly impossible unless you are stupid enough to spawn in an area heavily contested with enemies. (not sure about you but I often ask for team mates if they know if enemies are close by/ near a spawn point before spawning)
R4V3-0N I am talking about the little shits that drive for half the match to sit in the back of the spawn so they can get kills, the ones that never play the objective.
Cowboycomando54 You could just shoot them before they reach spawn in the first place. If they are getting on your nerves by knocking out the enemy team at their base, obviously something is working.
Spawncamp is a double-edged sword that is sometimes viable. It keeps the momentum going the way things have already been going. If your team isn't killing anyone in the first place, there is no one respawning for the camper to kill. If a team is winning, however, they can make it incredibly challenging to advance.
If spawn was protected, how many AA guns would bother to leave it? You have pretty much made AA players invincible.
However, personally I would sooner have a game where people are complain about spawncamp by enemies than a game where spawn is so safe that players don't bother to leave, which is the case in Air RB.

Play T-50. No way you can lose.
It should also be noted that a lot of the tactics in this video work well for the M18 Hellcat, since it has a lot of the characteristics of a light tank such as high speed and mobility at the cost of poor armor protection, though unlike most light tanks it also has a decent gun for its tier so when it does engage, it stands a better chance of doing significant damage and therefore can be more useful at taking out high-value targets such as someone trying to cap a friendly control point.

The problem with light tanks is the teamwork they require! A light tank "spotting" the enemy is of no use if your allies are ignoring your messages. Also you dont get any RP or Credits for "spotting"... A solution to this would be to give light tanks the abilty to mark enemys wiht the Binoculars.( The enemy tank would apear on the map and get the little red indicator near its position, like if he got shot at) and give RP and Credits for a Spott and the assist for the kill. Just an Idea... what do you others think??

They should do one of these videos for casemated tank destroyers; time and again I find them sitting in their little hidey-holes not paying any attention to their sides or rear, making them an easy kill without a turret to address unexpected threats to their flanks.

Regarding the cap, I absolutely agree, works every time! When we have Ash River domination, just go straight to the cap with a Crusader, then drive straight (but carefully) down the cliff. Anyone who had a shot at you no longer does, and you are in an area with few tanks and a good flanking position. Make your way to spawn and profit =).
Also, people here are so obsessed with the grind. Can't you just care about whether your team wins that specific game or not? It is nice if you play SB so that you have access to whatever vehicles are in each rotation, or RB events. Other than that, it isn't like higher tier aircraft get more of an advantage in their matches. For a long time the Shinden was incredibly hard to maneuver. There are still vehicles that are hard to play stock. T3 and T4 is really where the heart of WWII vehicles are anyway.

This is one example of a battle, in which a specific situation has occurred, no-one is lagging (ms or FPS), no-one has aircraft, no-one has back ups, the enemy is blind, no-one is using low graphics settings for an advantage, no-one is camping, no-one is AFK, no-one is teamkilling, there is a team that looks at chat, no-one has been up-tiered and all the enemies are lemmings. What does this prove?

So this might mean never use a light tank in an arcade mode because you will get eliminated easily because the enemy can easily spot you and you will lose your light tank advantages like hiding, flanking, scouting etc
how about yall fix the battle ratings of the tanks I mean a t25 with a 6.0 going against 6.7 and 7.0s? or the tiger h1 going against is2s. untill then I think I'll wait on playing this

I like the new tactics that are being taught here but, these things will only work in competitive games such as thunder league (I.e. a team needs to cap fast so they can get an advantage over a more skilled team). People just don't get enough for playing the game right (scouting, spotting etc...)
The most fun you can have in light tanks is using the low profile ones like the M22 in over teird games so you can piss people off when you run circles around their heavy tanks. Fun fact that most people don't seem to know the 37mm on the m22 can pen Kingtigers and so on it's pretty damn funny

(practicly ununesable tank for 99% of all maps of warthunder. In 99,999% of all battles (as matching up to enemy. they only need to aim at you. You need to aim at spots without the HEATFS. And the mobility you get for the sacrificed armor is doubtedly thick enough to even stand up to its much older brother Panther II (Who is better manueverable, has better acceleration, holds speed better, has much better cannon if hitting enemy from side = instakill .. with leopard.. seeing enemy from back means you are dead because before he will spot you you won't be able to kill him. or you just show him where you are hopefully at least taking out some important module.. or any module at all.)
And this is why they shud add french tanks imagine a amx 13 105 just sweeping around the map unloading it 105 mm drums

It'd be nice if there was more incentive to play as a light tank other than being target practice for enemy tanks. Say for instance giving them an actual spotting mechanic that's somewhat already built into the game? I don't normally play arcade tanks but perhaps players in light tanks should get a spotting bonus if they "designate" an enemy tank and in realistic it would just cause the red spotting arrow to appear over them without actually having to engage with your cannon since in most cases that's suicide in a light tank, at least according to this strategy guide right?
Typing at your team isn't always an option since things can go sideways really fast and clicking on the map doesn't always get everyone's attention, but putting a giant red arrow over them like when you're shooting at someone usually does the trick. Also if you're likely only going to be getting spotting bonuses it'd be nice if you get a small rp multiplier on modules for that specific light tank but it shouldn't be too great otherwise you'll speed through them too quickly. I know that later light tanks are easier to get kills with so the multiplier should get smaller the better the cannon/ammo types you get available to you. That's just my suggestion on how light tanks should work though, but honestly I'd rather be in a normal tank than a light tank since there's no real advantage aside from how fast you can race across the map and die with little to no reward.
by playing in a light tank mentioned by gaijin, it is almost impossible to grind/gain anything from it. Yeah your helping the team but in reality your wasting silver lions. Like how everyone mentioned before if we all did play like this they should make the spotting system better while getting bonuses from spotting.
this tutorial was rather useful for the more experienced players who can afford to not be grinding as fast as possible, however, for newer players only getting 500 RP ( as stated by TredBobek) the risk is not worth the reward. The easy way to fix the RP problem is give light tanks the ability to gain RP by "T-1-7" (aka spotting the enemy on the map for your team). If light tanks gain RP for spotting, as they are intended to do anyway, the class will see more play due to more than just 500 RP a match.
Late War Shermans are still underpowered. Because there is no balanced Medium Tank/Heavy tank ratio that the matchmaker tries to meet, American and British teams with mostly Medium tanks go up against Heavy Tank saturated German and Soviet teams, specifically the Tiger 1 and IS-1 and 2.
Light tanks are so much better now that the binocular spotting mechanic is in game

Could you please make a tutorial on how to play with the IS-2-1944 with post-war ammo and how to play the T-10 in a 6,7 battlerating game? Because that seems to be really difficult...
You can only pen your enemies such as King-tigers or Leopards 99% of the time instead of 100% and sometimes it's not even a one-shot kill. And they sometimes can penetrate my tanks, even though that should be impossible because they are russian tanks after all...

because "spotting" in war thunder does not really give you the same rewards that world of tanks does. Which means why would you play light tanks if you can't get RP?
There should be a way to "spot" and get experience/lions for it

Me, i got a noise problem, i don't hear anything, theres no sound and no music.
Apparently Gaijin thinks every tank battle is always filled with teamwork and happiness. I've seen good teamwork fairly often on Realistic Aviation, but in tank battles? Pshh, when you say "enemies spotted up the hill" either nobody will care or a toxic player will say "omfg noob come capture point nobody cares about the fucking hill" and then teamkills you. Then we lose the match because the enemy managed to flank us, and the toxic guy will say "omfg noob team can't even kill tanks u all suck"
Since they introduced the offroad speeds for lighter tanks and cars they are uselss they are just as fast as medium tanks.
And yes the game has loads of ru bias.

Aren't some light tanks you mentioned medium tanks? M4 Sherman, T-34? I'm a rookie but I study WW2 tanks.
If you spot an enemy you gain points? This is critical in other tank games. Think about this. Also in RB spotting an anemy (center him on your binoculars) must be visible (red dot on map) to your teamates. Think about this also, this make sense.
Speaking about spoting guys, notice that there must be a white smoke clound from the engine around every mooving tank. In WT this is happen only to AI tanks, why? Spoting a tank from its smoke is the most natural think as in reality.
Please do a tutorial on Japanese tanks! It is really hard to score a kill with them.
Title should be "How to automatically win" considering a good tanker is much more powerful in a light tank than any other class of tank.
Now do a 'HOW NOT TO LOSE IN BOMBERS' and please show people that rushing with bombers into the german team is not a good idea.

Well... At least you admitted there's a Russian bias.Like for example. AP shells not penetrating an IS-4 from an 88 at 10 meters range. Just the first thing that poped to mind, really.

"Tell your allies through chat" or, you know, you could implement an spotting system like WOT did instead of relying on your teammates who aren't paying attention to read extremely specific chat commands that are in all likelihood, not useful.
This is not a substitute for an actual game mechanic, despite this being able to potentially work. Nobody on your average team is reading chat, and likely never will, because it's much more rewarding to use these spotting methods in a tank that can actually kill something.
for goodness sake I know a lot of times where people don't listen to rule number 5.

I.e. the Russian bias, a tank shell sailing clean through the ground or a building, some dodgy physics ect ect.

I dont be sure it right way to play wiht light thanks ...I trying but no advice..but with my expirence trying advice for playr in arcade the game with light tank ...first when the game begin take speed tanks but target is faster by opponet go to point A B C ,but what is happing?opponent is faster and take point and you have problems you are with light tank opppnrt maybe go with 4 rank..what now?you must hiden ant wait support ..dont rush with bad thanks up..playing very carefulll and smart
