I went to a dealer to try out the Roam. As a wheelchair user, i was excited. I left very disappointed. Once in the van, rotation in my chair was almost impossible. My chair would be banging against the refrigerator in order to have sufficient rotation. I could get to the couch-bed but could not move my chair out of the way. Again, no rotation room. I need to use bathroom the direction. Also passender seat was very difficult to transfer into - too high and also narrow. No armrest for me to work on being able to rotate myself forward. Sad experience😢

My wife has a Pride power wheelchair (Edge 3) and it works fine, sometimes she hits the front corner of the shower with her back left bogie wheel. She does NOT use the lift as suggested, she drives straight onto it coming in, drives off and backs up. Then when she leaves she drives onto the lift again facing out. Had no problems.

This Winnebago Roam seems best suited for people who are partially ambulatory or have full time attendants. Smaller wheelchairs look to be a necessary pairing (I don't know that the Whill is Highway safe). Also the price of these is going to knock a lot of disabled people out of the market. Kudos to anyone who makes this work and loves it, it's not going to be the solution to my transportation problems.

My problem with this build is that restroom. As a wheelchair user, are you really able to transfer by yourself onto that toilet? I’m paraplegic and I transfer independently, but i don’t think that is a possibility with that restroom.

I agree; she mentioned the toilet swivels (? ) I'd like to see how that works. Pity the upper storage and microwave are so high, I don't think I could reach them with my iLevel chair. Funny, too, we didn't ever see her maneuver inside with that chair.

If your unit comes with a handicap bar to the right of the toilet as you face the front of the RV, take it out!! Then you can rotate the toilet to face the side of the RV and instead of doing a side slide you can rotate 90 degrees instead. For some that is easier than a side slide.

Everything looks good except for the microwave. Looks a bit high for someone in a wheelchair?

Cabinets are definitely too high, can't reach the microwave, too use the toilet, one would have to climb over the bar!

Looks kool for me ! But how many wheelchair(s) AND baggage(s) AND people can it accomodate at once ? Would have been even better if the kitchen had atleast a small portable stove.

Two captain seats in the front. A horrible bench seat for two in the back. And one person in the wheelchair. "Luggage space" is very tight, you can fill up the toilet stall and the over head above the front two seats. I put a roof rack on for bulkier light weight stuff.

Yeah you would think that they would work with a spinal cord injury unit to set up a wheelchair assessable van.

Exactly, I looked at this van and you can't turn around/have to climb over that bar in the toilet!

Had mine for almost a year. First recall, they boxed in the Braun wheelchair lift too much causing exhaust heat to really heat up the floor in front of the side door. Dogs really notice it as will anyone who is bare foot. Solution is to remove much of the boxing for air flows better around the exhaust pipes. Second recall, Promaster factory driver seat might have a fault in a sensor wiring. Ram took care of that. Took out the wall mounted handicap bar for the toilet, the bar prevented using the toilet while facing the side of the RV. The horn is lame, going to put on a roof rack and some real big truck air horns. Going to pull the OEM tires and put on some all weather tires to get better winter traction.

Winnebago so far, we have not seen a person in the wheelchair move around by their self after getting in the van, it always looks like they are stage wherever they need to be. Our family member needs a Mobility Van, thanks but no thanks..

She's using a small wheelchair and it still looks tight to maneuver.

Phftt...Certainly wasn't someone in a chair who designed it. What a disapointment, I got excited for nothing. Can't transfer to toilet or shower. Drivers & passenger seats are up on a pedestal, transfer would be difficult for many. Couch is also up on pedastal, can't reach microwave or storage cabinets. Well at least it has a lift... phftt..extremely disapointing they don't actually research before they build these things...they must figure once you get in , you just stand up & get out of your chair, unreal...

while it is very nice, the price, not mentioned, is probably the around the cost of a small home, and unless your wealthy, 10/10 credit, it's most likely out of reach of those of us who could actually benefit from the use, like many things made for the disabled, it's priced out of reach

We would have to switch the color scheme to maize and blue.
No way on earth I could live with Ohio State colors…🤮
