This is one of only two comedy novels I've read that have made me actually laugh out loud, and not just chortle, etc. Catch-22 is the other.

Absolutely loved it. One of the few books that I've read more than once and I know I'll read a few times more. As a native New Orleanian, this book holds a special place in my heart....very nostalgic.

Agree with you on the filing cabinet part. I once worked as a dishwasher, and on my first day I found out that the guy I was replacing decided that he didn't want to stay late to clean up a big batch of dishes, so he threw them all away, and the next day the manager just happened to open the trash can out back and found a huge garbage bag of broken plates. That happened 15 years ago, and I still think about it a lot.

This is a hilarious book!! I have never been sure if someone could truly appreciate it if he or she is not from New Orleans. I’m still not sure.

I would think Ignatius is on the spectrum and/or suffers from a personality disorder.I’m still in the first quarter of the book, so haven’t diagnosed him yet. 😂 I am glad to have spent a little time in New Orleans before reading the book. It helps me understand the setting so much better.

I have known the book title for a long long time. I read it about a year ago, and enjoyed it immensely, very funny. So many charcters. The put upon African American bar sweep, always in a cloud of cigarette smoke, his running commentary so funny. I think he has one of the final words.

I have not read the Novel yet although I do have it, and I listened to some of the audio version of it on youtube. The dialouges and the incidents that occur are always obnoxious just the main characyer himself, you also gave a perfect discreption of the novels nature, as if things dont just fall, they crash. Also the narrative seems to always keep you hooked from the bits and parts i heard from the audiobook. But is it really a "funny novel" tho or just intertaining ,fun and witty to say the least, rather than a novel that will make you laugh your guts out...i dont know yet.
