Amazing work guys! Quick question, with a mod as extensive as this, has Colossal Order ever approached you guys for creating content for the vanilla game?
this mod is really taxing on performance if collosal order wanted to implement this into the base game they'd have to increase the minimum requirements which is illigal thats also the reason why the traffic AI is what it is. For cities skylines 2 even tho i hope its a little while before we get that will have a much bigger team and a much better engine which will mean the game will be much more optimized and run much better and it can have things like better ai and things like this mod
My prayers have been answered, I've been dying to recreate some really cool express stations and over the road tracks without the moveit mod. THANK YOU!!!!!
Yesterday I was building this dock train line above road and it was time consuming. And now this mod comes! I wanted to create similar raised lines like in New York and now with this mod it should be so easy. Thank you!
WONDERFULL!!!!! One thing though... if you haven’t already you should add regular train tunnels so they are rendered like the metro ones so we can have underground train and metro hubs which look cool!
I’d really like to see metro stations become completely modular: - entrances decoupled from the station platforms, and linked by underground pedestrian walkways placed by the player (similar to placing roads); - ability to put two or three separate metro platforms at any angle and at different depths, linked by underground pedestrian access (which will allow for proper metro interchange stations); - multiple entrances to the one metro station (perhaps even taking over the ground of nearby buildings).
Cam Do not have the mod so not sure of what is available. Certainly want multiple underground levels so lines can cross each other - stations should not have to align to roads - multiple entrances as said with underground walkways. Similar to features on the real life London Underground
Love this one an waited so desperate for it. Lovely for asstest like the European Main Station, now i can change the elevated side tracks so metro, adds much more realism to my city
I tried a much earlier version of MOM and had so many issues with it I dropped it. I've not really bothered since, instead keeping overground mass transit to local trains and trams (but not monorail, I hate those!) But this looks way more slick and it's making me rethink my plans - having a fully integrated metro network instead of a disparate set of light and heavy rail systems to complement an underground metro would be a much better idea, and I could then forget the monorail ever even existed.
Thanks a lot for an easy way to the collection ^^. I have to start using this. It is amazing that now every train station can be converted :o. Love it already.
I have some ideas for the Metro Overhaul mod and other train- and vehicle-related mods: 1. Allow both normal (freight and passenger) trains and metro trains to operate on the same tracks. This should enable you to compact your rail infrastructure further, if you manage your trains efficiently. 2. Allow connecting regular tracks to metro tracks. This is to allow for (1) and also the possibility of delivering metro trains from outside. 3. Allow regular and metro trains to be run on higher-grade tram tracks. Around the world, there are some areas where a heavy freight train runs on tracks embedded in the road, as well as some areas where metro trains run on tram tracks. 4. Allow trains (and other vehicles) to break down, putting them out of service for several weeks, making citizens unhappy, and incurring costs to fix the train and refund passengers. Trains have reliability that starts at 100% and decreases over time, faster for older vehicles. 5. Train servicing takes time and money. This will change how you schedule your services, meaning that you will need to stop services during nighttime to allow your trains to be serviced. During servicing, breakdowns are fixed, then reliability is increased. You will also have to take into account the servicing cost of the train, which depends on reliability rating and breakdowns stat.
1/2/3: Sharing infrastructure between metros and trains is an interesting concept (and I believe one that is already in-game on the Sydney Harbor Bridge asset!), but for gameplay and scope reasons, keeping things separate makes more sense for us. It's already a lot of work, features, and assets to get the Metro overhauled - adding in trains and trams would make it more complex and hard to update. Trams especially, since they use a different type of AI that doesn't allow reversing - meaning that trams would completely break in train or metro stations that require them to reverse to get out. Sharing metro tracks and heavy rail tracks is also illegal in the US, and extremely uncommon in the rest of the world. The game also really doesn't have the tools to "manage trains efficiently" - it's just a huge mess no matter what. 4/5: Breakdowns is an interesting concept, but on the time scale the (vanilla) game works at, breakdowns would be a tiny blip, and nothing else. The game AI is also not smart enough to be able to route around breakdowns and changes - you'd be unable to fix your system when it breaks. This feature is also sort of beyond the scope of a city-builder, and more in line with a transport sim, like OpenTTD or Transport Fever. Cities isn't really built for it in any way. If you want that effect, you can schedule day/night only routes if you have the After Dark expansion pack.
In Cities:Skylines railway tracks are electrified with an overhead catenary system, while MOM metro tracks use a third rail, so they wouldn't be compatible in real life 😉
@@bsquiklehausen (2) I get your direction, but for, say, a city in England (where space is very limited and very expensive) track sharing is a necessary evil. Take a look at the Metropolitan line in London, specifically from Moor Park to Harrow-on-the-Hill stations. Fast services have to use mainline tracks, rather than their own dedicated express lines, and local trains use standard tracks.
