What I love about Overland Bound is that, no matter how expert and dialed into overlanding you are (Michael), you and your travel companions are real down-to-earth people who have the same difficulties as everyone else. Crisis averted due to a series of clear, calm, and informed decisions made by all involved. Glad to see everyone was paying attention to the audible signals the vehicles tell to you, SocialPants especially. Not only are pre and post trip inspections important, but based on length of trip and obstacles encountered intermittent inspections may be required. I believe Trail Mater runs leafsprings on one of his rigs, so his input is sound advice. Glad all are safe. Thanks for sharing so we can also learn from this.

How timely! I bent a main leaf on the Xterra last weekend and replaced it this week before the Rubicon trip for this exact reason. Scary stuff happens when the main leaf goes. 😮

@@SocialPants Been running the Deaver HD+3 on my Rap and really like them with the weight on the back (similar weight to yours). Having 12 leafs and progressive I believe is the answer. (my opinion).
Maybe it's time to pare down your gear. That truck looks very overloaded.
There's an awesome spring shop in Grand Junction, but I can't remember the name of the place. They hand build leaf springs there. Sorry I can't help with the name.
