The shed dormer will look good when you get the end walls closed up, the corrugated roof tiles back on the gutter edge, all of the detailing of the exterior of the shed dormer completed, the rotted gable ends of the barn roof completely repaired and that entire side of the barn roof cleaned and painted a nice color.
Then you will have to finish your wood storage shed addition so you can clean all of the wood out of the both floors of the barn and stored under the shed roof.
I'm looking forward to seeing the exterior of the project completed. The inside can wait for now.
I strongly encourage you to stay focused and finish these big jobs before you start another. :)

Please consider converting your attic space into something like this. It’s already insulated. Think winter. You could make the space into a miniature apartment for your mom. Or a play & hobby area where you wouldn’t be cold. There is a chimney so you could have heat. A place for a bathroom and all kinds of storage. Please think about it.😅😮😊
Our house does need a new roof it's a lot worse shape and two beams need to be changed so we need a crane to do this. We need a lot of money to get our house roof changed so for now we can work on this barn and have an amazing guest house.

On the roof? It's more than capable of holding around 50cm of snow if there is any more than that then we have to get up there and clear it.

I love the look and the idea of using all wood, but that seems like a lot of material used vs. using a manufactured siding that will last longer 🤷♀️
The wood is around 5x cheaper than any siding would be. Here the wood prices are very low. The one board of 6m by 10cm is only 2 Euros.

When u do this kind of board and batten, don't put just one screw in the middle of the batten board, it will likely curl and make water come in, consider screwing or nailing it on both sides into the board..... So your nice job isn't all for nothing....
Yeah good idea. I was thinking about shrinking so I thought one screw will be fine but better add two on the sides to keep it from warping.
