I played the mod update last night. Since Churgney's works can be so damn intricate, they don't always impress first listen, but god damn they can hit hard a few listens later. I listened to this for like the 4th or 5th time while I was doing other things just now and one part was so freaking beautiful it genuinely, out of nowhere, hit me with a sudden wave of euphoria so strong I literally had to sit back in my seat to let it pass over me. HOW CAN YOU MAKE MUSIC SO IMPECCABLY MAGNIFICENT I CAN LITERALLY FEEL IT PHYSICALLY, WHAT IN THE CHURG bro you outdone yourself. Good god.
The notes represent what daddy dearest is doing right now, blue is crying, red is bleeding, and yellow means he's absolutely squanched his pants... I mean completely soiled himself I don't even wanna tell you what green is.
I'll be transparent and say that the things that made me adore the original WIP from 2022 (the obviously placeholder but excellent instrumental breaks, and the heavier focus on letting holdnotes breath.) are not present or not as strong in this version. So I don't really think this rendition is my thing. That being said, do not let mine or anybody's personal preferences stop you from being extremely proud of this version- it is very technically impressive! I can't wait to see people who this version IS for enjoy the shit out of this.
I will update and say that while I DO agree with my words- that I think the WIP hits stronger emotionally and I wish this version had instrumental breaks within the song to take advantage of the emotional strength of the melody- the final minute and a half of this version is REALLY god damn good. I'm simply loving that a big part of the unfinished songs planned to be in VS Sonic.EXE are being finished, You Can't Run Encore, Prey Good Future, Final Escape (my fav one), Endeavors, Uh Oh, Trickery, Fakebaby and in the future we will have Sunshine Encore and Soulless, but unfortunately we most likely will never have Triple Trouble Encore, but anyway, IM LOVING THAT YEAAAAAAAAH!!!!
