Mast cells are very close to basophil granulocytes (a class of white blood cells) in blood; the similarities between mast cells and basophils has led many to speculate that mast cells are basophils that have "homed in" on tissues. However, current evidence suggests that they are generated by different precursor cells in the bone marrow.

Sorry, the articles I've read in the last 10 years say that basophils and mast cells are NOT the same thing - they come from entirely different lineages.

    Thanks for the great videos!!!
    My questions are
    1. Somewhere said that the dendritic cells which is under the skin are called Langerhans cells. So is that right? Both of DC and macrophages called Langerhans cells?
    2. Why didn`t you make a video for Dendritic cells? Is there any difference between the phagocytosis of DC and Macrophages?
    Thanks.

When they are circulating in the vessels they are called mast basophils. When they are outside the vessels they are called mast cells.
