The Last of Us Part I is a 2022 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. A remake of the 2013 game The Last of Us, it features revised gameplay and controls, including enhanced combat and exploration, and expanded accessibility options. The single-player story follows Joel, who is tasked with escorting the young Ellie across a post-apocalyptic United States and defend against cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus. The game also includes the expansion The Last of Us: Left Behind, a single-player campaign following Ellie and her best friend Riley. The original game's online multiplayer mode is omitted.
Development was led by game director Matthew Gallant and creative director Shaun Escayg, replacing original directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, respectively. The game was completely rebuilt to take advantage of the upgraded technology, requiring new animations, art direction, and character models to align with the vision of the original game's development team. The visual departments analyzed the original game, including its cutscenes and narrative beats, to identify crucial storylines and their original direction and purpose. The team expanded upon the gameplay, technology, and accessibility features of The Last of Us Part II (2020), using its game engine and building upon it with the updated technology. The game's cutscenes feature audio descriptions, for which the developers collaborated with Descriptive Video Works. The game supports 3D audio, as well as the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller.
Following several leaks, the game was officially announced in June 2022, and was released for PlayStation 5 on September 2, 2022, and at a later date for Windows. It received positive reviews, with praise for its graphical enhancements, facial animations, artificial intelligence, and its added accessibility, audio, and controller options; the response to its gameplay and level design was mixed, and several critics questioned the necessity of a remake, especially considering its price.

It really is. Though I didn't download it for ps4 (which is what I need to do) I can play this game over and over. I can watch walkthroughs over and over and never get tired of this game. It is truly one of a kind.

Man, even having played the game (the OG version), watching this is so entertaining, and the next best thing whilst waiting for the new Ep of the HBO show to come out. It honestly feels like watching a movie a lot of the time.
Only downside with the series is that they could not resist to implement make woke shit like the cocksucking episode 3. Was like some Disney fairytale bullshit. Seriously, this is something the franchise doesn't need.
Couldn’t agree more. I played through the PS3 version a couple of times when it came out. This popped up on my feed over the weekend and I was intrigued to see what it looked like and ended up watching over an hour and got back to it a few times since and working my way back through.

A lot of people complaining the the tv show isn’t exactly like the game. I knew about the last of us since it appeared but I really never watched a full gameplay. I’m watching the gameplay after watching the show TWICE. Not knowing how the game really is, you do appreciate the show so so much, it’s mainly because you don’t have your expectations already set! I loved every single minute of the tv show AND of the game. They are both simply amazing. Don’t be so critical of the show compared with the game. It’s amazing

I never got around to playing the game, but having been watching the HBO series now, it's crazy to see how much different the whole Bill scenario played out. no Joel getting in traps, no Ellie meeting Bill, no untouched house, or town cleaned by Frank, or he and Bill choosing to die together. the show gave so much depth to Bill and I loved watching his character development after meeting Frank. it's cool to see "both versions," but I gotta say, I prefer the show on this one. game Bill aint shit.

I came here after watching the series, looking for the giraffe scene since it hasn't been shown yet. Turns out to be much later than Episode 7, my memory of this game has been really fuzzy.

I’m currently replaying the game on my ps4 and although it’s not as good as the ps5 version, it still holds up today. I really wish I had a ps5 and the ps5 version of the game. But there’s no way I’m paying full price for a decade old game.

Haven't played the game but watching the 2023 show. Man, Sarah's death from the game actually brought tears to my eyes.
SPOILERS AHEAD! I think the part where Sarah dies is more realistic in the game(at least the remastered) that in the tv series. The desperstiom and suffering is way better portrayed here. Anyways, is not a surprise the tv series has recieved good reception, since the main source qas already pure quality

Finished the sequel like a month or two ago and it's still kicking around in my head - great games. Great, intensely uncomfortable games. I'm generally not a fan of the pseudo-movie AAA-game design approach, but those two (and the later Uncharted games) actually manage to do something worthwhile with that formula while also managing to actually be fun to play, which is sorta crazy to me. Looking forward to the PC port.

I'm diving into this game for the first time ever now that I've got my hands on the PS5. It's truly the pinnacle of gaming for me. The depth and immersion have me hooked-I feel genuinely invested in every moment. Being a dad, I can only chip away at it a bit each day, but that slow pace suits me fine; it keeps the experience fresh and prevents me from rushing through it. The last time a game resonated with me like this was "Metal Gear Solid 2."

The display has no relevance on the output of the game, the game isn't running 4k 60fps on PS5 and no Monitor/TV will change that.

Thanks for the HD playthrough. It was enjoyable. Just wish the gameplay was more solid. Stealth routes were weak and unplanned. Walking right next to and through enemies. Half the time you're brawling zombies instead of using your tools and the other half you are shooting your partners. Very little awareness overall, with your back constantly facing the enemy. Can't count how many times you approached a gunfight holding a bottle. Bit messy, bit silly.
But it's the games fault for not punishing you properly.
