Clarence 'Frogman' Henry got his nickname due to his voice which had a trademark croak, especially utilised on his 1956 debut single "Ain't Got No Home." This signature voice accompanied by Frogman's good nature and talent flew him into a career which lasted over forty years in the Crescent City. Lucky you I was a teenager in Britain, and I thank God for the fabulous American music, cause ours wasn't my cup of tea.
Wish I DID
AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE MILLS BROTHERS VERSION ....AT 82 I JUST FOUND THIS GEM!!! SHAME ON ME...
Thats Awesome !!!
I probably heard this version many years before The Mills Brothers ~ actually, though, I probably heard it first by Fats Domino ~ that may be why I think Frogman sounded a bit like Fats
One of my favorites
If you never saw or heard of "Frogman" you would try to imagine what he would look like. I found him to look like he is. Not pretentious or put-on but a fat black guy that sang like he looked. He moves with a grace and confidence that is rare and just beautiful.

THIS WAS THE PURE SIMPLICITY OF ROCK N ROLL AT ITS BIRTH AND THAT'S WHAT MADE IT SO BEAUTIFUL. THANKS A MILLION.

I love this version, but also The Spike Jones when I want a laugh.
I had heard that the nickname of “Frogman” came from his scuba diving army days... No matter, love the guy!
This song reminds me of Christine Applewhite and my years at PRC.

Great
From WIKIPEDIA: Fats Domino and Professor Longhair were young Henry's main influences while growing up.[1] When Henry played in talent shows, he dressed like Longhair and wore a wig with braids on both sides. His trademark croak, utilized to the maximum on his 1956 debut hit "Ain't Got No Home," earned Henry his nickname and jump-started a career that endures to this day.[1] "(I Don't Know Why) But I Do" and "You Always Hurt the One You Love", both from 1961, were his other big hits.[2]
