    It took me three trips to England to get to see her (initial closure, then the fire), but well worth it. One of the most amazing public spaces anywhere.

    I visited her the first time in the 90s, was amazing. Next visit was in 2023, glad she survived the fire, and was very impressed. Really impressive to see the hull and the keel, these guys really did a great job - will come again!

    I remember my dad helping out on the committee after the fire when I was 4 or 5. I’ve just bought him the scale model of this for his birthday next week. I must make time to visit when back in the UK, looks amazing!

    Part of the reason the frame of the hull 'deformed" was due to the ship being on land. A marine hull is designed to be supported by water, not sitting with most of its weight on the keel alone.

    I detest modern architecture...BUT...Cutty Sark I remember in person from childhood as she WAS...{long before the fire} .. and this ''~Carbuncle'' is a magnificent solution. Keeps her safe from decay, hopefully.
    Well done! {S.S Great Britain's hull is also preserved under glass}

    Had it not been for Ivan Yefremov dedicating a book to Cutty Sark and his bashing of British Aristocracy who protect their privileges under the guise of tradition and ignore real heritage by letting Cutty Sark rot.. The world would have lost Cutty Sark, an absolute pinnacle of sailing ship building .

    I dare say you have had 100% visitor satisfaction, but hard to believe I don't suppose anyone who loved the ship of old would want to visit it with that glass carbuncle wrapped around her - so there are a number of discerning people with whom I agree. When I saw what had been done to her I couldn't believe it, it broke my heart and I wouldn't want to visit it now, I think I would cry. No longer can you appreciate the beautiful lines properly, I would have thought there could have been a 'money spinning' way of presenting this noble ship in a far more aesthetic way. Its a shame.

    I always liked the visitors centre... never understood why it got nominated for a carbuncle.

    I wish there was more talking and less detailed photos of the ship itself.

    The Carbuncle Cup is such a stupid idea, even when it goes to a genuinely terrible building (which this clearly is not) it's just plain rude, you can see how sad it made this man. Why hate? Far better to encourage.

    Whomever designed that idiotic fake water setting should be keelhauled! Terrible, terrible, terrible!

    Not a ship anymore, merely a sculpture. landlubbers enterlopers having coffe in the dock-- a disgrace. A typical result of the new culture rascial regime.

      How would you have preserved the ship then & generated revenue for it's ongoing renovation and maintenance? This is an important historical vessel at least it's been preserved & it's history, especially when so many vessels are lost at sea, or left to rot & decay with unfortunately no one either knowing about them their historical significance or anyone caring, a perfect example is a boat I was looking at only a few days ago the 41 foot light blue Trimaran Teignmouth Electron, left at sea for 8 months before being found now beached at Cayman Brac a small Caribbean island exposed & left to the elements not only decaying & rotting away but people have actually graffitied on it, zero respect no comprehension or appreciation of it's significance. The family who technically own the wreck not caring about it. An absolute travesty to maritime history. At least Cutty Sark & SS Great Britain are appreciated preserved maintained and visited. PS there's no such word as rascial did you mean racial ?
