Saw you out there this day, My boat pops into camera 36min mark. We caught about 20 slimeys which were turned into fish tacos and about the same in rat kings trolling around/drifting. Had a live slimey off the back about 100m from that island and hooked up to a shark. No wire leader so it was exciting for about 3.7seconds. Then the weather went south quickly mad for a fun boat ramp!
Awesome mate. Great day on the slimeys. They were everywhere. We got towed around by a shark on Bass Island a few months ago. Never got it up, but caught a 7 gill earlier in the day. It’s on my Monster from the Deep video. Thanks for the comment. Shout out next time you see me !!
My suggestion for snapper is to try and target the interface between the reefy ground and the sand/mud bottoms. You can usually see the change in bottom on the sounder from the red "hard" line to yellow. Most of my success comes from the inshore grounds nice and close to the points. Bellambi, Wonoona and pretty much wvery rocky point down/up the coast will produce.
No real tips on catching snapper other than lightly weighted baits floated down the burly trail "float lineing" Bellambi and stanwell humps are supposed to be good snapper grounds.

Thanks Chris.
I’m keen to give further north a go. I’ll have to look on the charts for the Stanwell Humps.
