    Back to master engine building. Creative use of the press. It isn't crazy if it works. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

    Be sure to check the cam for straight on some v-blocks. I find a lot of the steel ones are not straight and need a bit of tweaking. That can contribute to that tight feeling in the block.

    Awesome Josh I have been planning my move in June two households and I am sympathetic to all of what you had to do but good for you taking on the new challenges. Can’t wait for the new shop as I’m sure you are excited.

    Look into the swag off-road replacement press plates for the press. The factory ones are cast iron and prone to breakage which can chuck large chunks at high speed.

    So for building an engine like this and a hot retorque needed on the head studs and relashing the valves, why not set this thing up on a simple steel engine stand and the ecu wired up. Could even make a long enough extension harness to have the ecu still attached through the truck for ignition and codes reading. Might save time in breaking in the engine

    Josh, I have an 06’ 5.9 with a g56. I just installed a smarty s06 with catcher and it’s a beast after 2k rpm but it’s a smoky DOG at low rpm. Any suggestions other than compounds?

    what tap do you use for bottom tapping? is there a tap that is made for bottom tapping, or is it really just a term for cleaning the holes to the bottom with a regular tap.

    Not sure if it's a problem with all of them presses, but I was pressing bearings on a dana 60 carrier and one of those chinisium steel plates broke and piece damn near smacked me in the head. Good press otherwise but something to watch out for.

      @@horsetorquesdiesel LOL don't I feel dumb.
      Anyways, about your rod piston assemblies. Ever consider weighing them as assemblies(rod, pin rings bolts and all) and Dremel them to the tenth of a gram? Since you got to wait for machining of the crank or block you got some time to kill. Assume more balanced is more stable at higher rpms.
      Firepunk is building past 6k rpms. I want to see you beat them. I mean in the challenges. Not the rpm. but 6k seems to be a good target since math. rpm x torque/5252 or something like that.

    • @horsetorquesdiesel
      @horsetorquesdiesel  2 года назад +2

      @@ChannelZeroOne I’ve already ran over 6k with no problem. It’s not really hard, all my sled pulls are 6250 soft limiter

    I don't see any reason why upgrading to an Epiq would be beneficial for your current 'storage' situation. I think if you invested more thought/time into how your box is laid out/organized and exactly what you're using to organize said tools, would most likely result in more usable space/storage. I do love Epiq's, their lift latch drawer pulls and 30" drawer depth is killer but, eventually you'll end up running into the same problem due to lack of organization. Adding a side locker and or cab to your current Snappy makes more sense. By no means am I hating or telling you how to spend your money. Just my 2 cents. Take care, man.

    3000 hp? I highly doubt that claim...you have dyno proof of that? because that would be more incredible than just knowing where the gas pedal is 3000 hp the pistons would be coming out the side of block you should have put the money into a highway tractor so all that smoke might have been able to make your money back
