The shark is a short-finned mako, a close cousin of the larger great white shark. Its teeth are more pointed than the serrated triangles of the great white. Makos are pelagic sharks and are rarely found this close to shore. Great job returning it to the water.

The problem for requiem sharks like this beautiful Mako is they have to swim forward constantly to pass water over their gills.
Getting stuck like that on shore is like a human being experiencing an asthma attack.. it's struggling to get oxygen as well as feeling squashed because of the lack of buoyancy.
It was courageous to get this animal turned over and facing back out to Sea.. and fortunate it had the energy to swim .. they need to move forward to restore the flow of water and therefore oxygen to their gills. When caught off a boat they can be revived by holding them alongside as the boat moves through the water forcing water over their gills.. but handling one this large would be difficult even for experts.. 💛
This really is one of the fastest sharks on the planet in its natural habitat chasing down mostly fast fish and occasionally marine mammals. 😎🧙🏻‍♂️

Usually it's other broads who will stop and help me. I'm also past or present part of 4 diff dog rescue groups and they are 99% made up of broads. Of the men who are a part of these groups, prob 99% of those are husbands who accompany their wives on these endeavors. And God bless em, they are great guys whose contributions are appreciated, but fact remains they likely wouldn't be helping us without their wives doing it. So let's not trash the broads. The HUGE majority of animals that are rescued have greater numbers of BROADS to thank for it, as opposed to men... More women volunteer in EVERY capacity, actually. @@fauzulazim2993no we neither have the tools nor any data on or even a proven concept of what constitutes a memory.
But i would tend to agree that the shark is probably just confused about what was happening.
It might have felt like it escaped the humans for all we know.
It has a very primitive brain so you are likely right but not certaintly at all.
