Yeah I keep intending to. I did actually have a white/pink one with a yellow throat but it didn't make it through last winter despite the temps being at 18°C.
All my Mandevilla are kept indoors all year round. So all my care videos are geared towards that. The latest one I made about how I care for mine can be found at this link - I hope it's useful: ruclips.net/video/5vzcXLerVjI/видео.html
Excellent video!! I have 3 plants that I have tried to propagate with no success. I will try again!! What is that hanging plant at the beginning of the video? I need one!!
Thanks Chris - glad you enjoyed it. I can see 2 hanging plants at a timestamp of 0:00 - the nearest one is an orchid - Coelogyne speciosa, the 2nd one is Nepenthes lowii x ventricosa.
Any rooting hormone will do. If you can control the environmental factors, like light and temperature - then any time of year will work. If not, then spring or summer.
Thanks for the video, but my vine is cut, how do I get it to grow back? The plant is doing good and full of flower, just no vineing shoots. Please help!!
All you can do is prvide it with optimal conditions and wait - you can't force it to grow - it'll do it naturally. But if you're wanting to propagate, providing you can find a branch with fairly new growth on the end, then you can use that. Sometimes you just have to use flowering stems - but make sure to follow all the directions inn the video.
Thank you! I am trying for the first time. I live in Florida and will be growing more from the cuttings.. Do need water after the initial cuttings are planted?
@@ingridtheissen-anderson8622 I’d keep them inside or protected until you’ve decent sized plants - so we’re talking at least one up-pot, so at least they’ll stand a chance. That could be after a few months from cuttings. Possibly sooner in your climate.

¡Buena suerte!
It's definitely the Mandevilla not the Masdevallia ignea - as he's spoken about it before. The cuttings are for me to replace the one I'm giving him - which will be the plant from the cooler side of the greenhouse - which is in a 5 litre pot and currently has 3 foot long vining stems! I may have to sacrifice some of those as they're all entwined around the trellis.
Definitely. It's not to keep them warm, it's to retain high humidity near to the cuttings. Just keep them out of direct sun. You can remove them after a couple of weeks.
ive tried to propagate my dipladenia, but with no success unfortunately. when is too late to try to propagate it again? here temps are 12-18 celsius and both my dipladenias still have some flowers
Thank you! I cut it back today and put them all in mini greenhouses. Kinda nervous because I used seed starting mix bc it was the only “clean dirt” I had and it seems a bit wet. Thinking about adding in some perlite.
@@Brytdawg83 Yeah definitely add some perlite - they're tropical plants evolved for drought conditions. You don't want them sitting in wet media for too long. Good luck - I hope they 'strike' for you.
Difficult to say, Ray. If there's any stem left try scraping at it with a knife. If there is still green underneath then it's still alive. I have heard that it's possible for Mandevilla to die back to ground level then re-sprout again when the temperatures improve so all is not lost. Plant it in a pot of multipurpose compost - but mix in some sharp drainage like horticultural sand or grit (a third), water once, then put somewhere warm and sunny. Only water again when it's completely dry. Good luck!
They’re drought tolerant so I leave mine dry a couple of days before watering again. Depends on your conditions though, so as they’re still young seedlings you need to keep a close on them till they’re bigger.
Unfortunately I don't have the time to get into lengthy private email conversations at present (I've more time in winter for that), but if your query relates to the video or to Mandevilla propagation I'll be happy to give it my best shot.😁
¡Buena suerte! ruclips.net/video/gaHliGFsvHA/видео.html

Thumbs up for dropping the longer intro.
This video is really well done: easy to follow, clear, short, and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for making it!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow your nursery is gorgeous.
Brilliant, I’ve never considered this, I buy new each year, I’ll definitely give it a try.
They root pretty easily - even without the hormone powder. 😀
@@Grow_Up_Man55 Even better, saves me buying rooting powder!👍🏻
Fantastic. Thanks for this clear, concise explanation.

Hi. Thanks for the information. What rooting hormone is best? What time of year is best to take cuttings
Any rooting hormone will do. If you can control the environmental factors, like light and temperature - then any time of year will work. If not, then spring or summer.

My pleasure. Yeah give them a water then once you put them in a propagator or in a clear plastic bag they shouldn't need watering again. Good luck!
Hello!
How long after you plant them can they be transplanted outdoors?

What is/ where did you get the little growing container you put the cutting in? I need one (or several) of those!
You mean the purple plant pot? It's just a 10cm diameter pot - should be readily available on Ebay or Etsy. 😀
X favor ,podrían traducirla al español??
Muchas gracias
¡No estoy seguro de cómo hacerlo! Lo investigaré y veré qué puedo hacer.

Is that for Ed and was he talking about the Mandevilla or was he talking about masdevilla ignea?

Oh that's vary nice to give him your mother plant.😁👍
It's actually the cuttings from the mother plant - but they're over 2 years old and now a substantial size, and vining too.😁
Can we keep it inside under grow lights or where just regular living area lights are being used regularly?
They’re high light plants so I expect you’ll need grow lights. If it’s not bright enough you’ll get loads of green growth and fewer blooms.
Can the stem grow in water
You can try it. I always use compost because that’s where it’ll end up - so why add in another step?
I live in Canada and have a greenhouse, which gets really hot, even with a fan, open vents and door. Should I still use a bag or cover? Thanks. ☺️

If you can put your propagations somewhere at around 18 degrees Celsius then you can do them all year round.
@@Grow_Up_Man55 is 18 degrees the ideal temp or can it be warmer?

My Mandevillle plant died during the winter so I dug up the root. Can I get it to regrow from the roots? If so what do I need to do.

Creo q es del grosor de la vara q tiene en su mano
Si son brotes muy delgados, entonces son brotes "enredaderas" y no se propagarán. Necesitas brotes, como se muestra en el video.
What to do with long tendrils?????
Let them climb. If you don’t like them then just cut them off.
Hi, how often do you need to water the new cutting?
They’re drought tolerant so I leave mine dry a couple of days before watering again. Depends on your conditions though, so as they’re still young seedlings you need to keep a close on them till they’re bigger.

Does the parent plant continue to grow from the spot you cut from?
It tends to regrow from another point instead. Making it more bushy.
