  • Here's a nice little radio you can program with your phone, although doing so the first time with Chirp is easier. This video discusses the radio but not the programming, as I'm still learning that. An upcoming video will discuss programming in more depth. You can get this on Amazon here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSK3YXVL.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the video! I have the TD-H8 (Christmas Gift) and while I'm not a huge fan of hand held radios, I've got to say that I'm quite impressed with this thing. I am able to hit a local repeater about 40 miles away and hold it open as long as I don’t move about. It came with a standard rubber duckie (worthless) and an extra long whip, external hand mic, various cables and 2 batteries, all for about 40 bucks. I have 40 acres up in the southern sierra mountains and it's perfect for quick comms around the property whilst out and about. The Bluetooth programming works well and is quite straightforward in its use. The screen display is very nice with the ability to view frequency, channel name, or both! It also has Weather & FM band coverage! The battery life is phenomenal! Overall a fun little radio thats inexpensive enough to keep one in the glove box of all your vehicles. Thanks again Dave for your time.

Thanks for this review. I own many Yaesu and Icom fm radios and I just bought this TD-H3. It's an excellent radio and I really enjoy using it. For $40, it's a no-brainer. 73

I now have two of them and for the price it is an amazing bundle of innovation that is absent from most higher end radios. Yes it does have some short comings that only one with a spectrum analyzer will find but I have always received great signal reports.

I have one. I love it other than it only pushing 2w when it says 10w on the screen

So it is -30dBc at 70cm and -20dBc at 2m, not actually very good. Means I am putting out 50mW at 5*145=725 MHz when transmitting with 5W.

Not interested in product reviews. These are paid for by the product manufacturer. 😢

Actually they're not. Yeah, I get to keep a $35 radio, but I give them away pretty quickly.
