Man, when you are switching between games in your clips sometimes it takes my brain a second to figure out which game I am looking at, especially when you show Nightbird gameplay. It's kind of crazy how similar Delta force is compared to 2042. I'm excited to see where it goes, and I hope it improves. (And forces DICE to get the next BF game to release more polished) For me the game was pretty hard to read, and it led me to get frustrated quite quickly. I don't know if it was the audio or the visuals, but I found it very hard to tell where I was being shot from.
Now that the final product is starting to take shape, personally I don’t see DF as a product which can displace BF. What’s scarier is the reality that a company can rock up and “borrow” your IP so liberally. What I do think will get Dice’s and EAs attention are the string of high profile fails & financial losses in the gaming sector of late, and the clear message people won’t put up with a shoddy launch. The next title needs to be impactful & well delivered to beat off the bargain basement copycats who will inevitably turn up within a few years. I’ll keep an eye on DF but I have to say, now I’ve seen it (and assuming the Beta is representative of the final product) I’m not massively interested in it. What’s it brining us? Can’t see the value proposition right now, but I will keep exploring some of the unique game modes.
Re: helicopters crashing into the ground. I believe there is a system in battlefield that increases your lift while upright and near the ground, to simulate 'ground effect', e.g. an air pocket building between rotor blades and the ground, because the air can no longer escape towards the bottom. It's subtle, but a very important mechanic. It seems like this is just lacking from DF completely
I’m no physicist but the BF “pull” when you get low aligns to the landing gear dropping automatically. I had assumed it was a mechanic to make it easier for players to land. Whatever it is, it’s predictable and that’s the key thing. I know when it’s going to kick in and what will trigger it. The problem with DF is I can’t for the life of me understand where the bite point is for when this effect comes into play. It means I can’t get low or try to hide in structures because the flight characteristics (particularly lift) goes to hell. I can move to hide behind a tower and all of a sudden total loss of lift and I’m crashing. The only safe thing to do is to stay high. What’s interesting is the NB in DF doesn’t seem to have this issue…
@@timelessgamer_UK i thought it was a render issue at first. but no i see them fly directly towards a huge group of people and just stop existing. if it was a render issue i would have gotten at least some hits or something to indicate it did hit. but no they just *poof* out of this world.
I haven't tried to fly yet in DF, but as an infantry guy who liked to dabble with ground vehicles in BF3 especially the grounds vehicles in DF ALL maneuver like bricks. They are so cumbersome on top of how strong the rocket launchers seem to be it can be a chore trying to level them up.
I found that the only real danger to my vehicle is a Javelin, the Atlas launchers are only minimal. Once you feel 2 or 3 hits just back up and pop a smoke, I usually get away. Much more so than BF, if you commit with a vehicle and go for the objective, there’s going to be a Javelin or two waiting for you. If you happen to be in a lobby with Engineers, it can be rough. But overall yes these DF vehicles are slow and feel like moon buggies. Given how much “inspiration” was taken from BF elsewhere, they should go and have another look…
one thing that's iffy to me from what I've been seeing is no vehicle variety, it just looks like both teams share the same set of vehicles just like 2042 did, I kind of want to see different vehicles added to differentiate team identity, imo.
You’re absolutely right I ought to have mentioned that - there’s no customisation or factional variations like there is in BFV. Good point! I was too focused on how banal the gameplay was…
2042 at least has 5 pairs of vehicles that are different for each faction (MBT, 3 Helis and Jets) DF only has worse versions of some US vehicles and other copycats. I think not-LAV is the only not 2042 vehicle, since it's a mix of BF3-BF4 LAV and Brawler from 2042
Yup. Maybe an American tank having slow fire rate (due to manual reloading) but more damage and Russian designs would shoot faster but weaker since they have autoloaders. Or smoothbore being less accurate but high velocity. The functions/role could be similar but slight differences to equipment. If one vehicle class is obviously superior like Russian vs American APCs you could have the better ones spawn less which reflects reality where militaries might choose a basic vehicle to have more of them. They should have fighter jets but I kinda get why they don't, they would be too OP or very unrealistic given the size of the maps. Aircraft made sense during WWII or WWI where planes were smaller, slower, and had less protection and relied on hit and run, a modern jet could level the entire map and fly from one side of the map to out of bounds in less than 5sec on full afterburner. Instead maybe do remote controlled drones for one side and an older fighter for another side?
I feel like I can see the game engines movement vectors while you are flying the helecopter. It's so completely digital. There's no drag, no weight, no drift
With those mast-mounted optics, the Apache should be able to lock onto enemy armor while behind an obstacle and then pop up to fire. THAT is its signature move and THAT is what it should be able to do in this game.
That would balance out the horrible mobility. The real Apache is mobile but still a glass cannon that needs support cuz any shoulder fired missile could one shot it. Helicopters irl are very easy to shoot down but also very deadly since most vehicles aren't heavily armored from the top (which is why javelin flies up then down)
I find it amusing that Delta Force models a cursed version of the Vortex ring state for helicopters that pulls you into the ground if you descend too fast. The only other game I've played that models that is War Thunder.
you could never fly low on a match with me playing a tank. i would just righout shot you down. yeah i feelt the drag down the hard way. i just was: "in reallife that could actually happen "
I’d cheer you if you did - everyone likes a good shot. My problem with the downward drag is the inconsistency & it makes taking cover nearly impossible. It also means we’re always going to be flying high, so tank players will never get their shot!
I’ll try to live up to the praise! Honestly the Heli play is tragic by comparison, they need to invest some time here. Engineers is fun but too scripted - there’s no RPG / M5 shot at an aircraft, no SOFLAM or strikes from the sky. I’d they want to challenge BF, they’re going to need to really work on this. Right now it feels very off to me. Let’s see where they take it. You playing?
Dude seeing that Apache gameplay half way through the video in 2042 comparing the two games, you’ve really gotten better in the helicopter than in your previous videos
I think MBT and Tank destroyers are the only combat vehicles which is where they need to be... Both the LAV AA and LAV IFH or whatever its called is weak af... The 30mm cannon on the AA LAV does 16 dmg to Infantry.... 16 fucking dmg.. Should do like 35-40 if you ask me... Also they are super easy to kill so if they wanna keep that route with them being easy to kill they for sure needs to do to way more dmg.
The MBT and RAM (tank destroyers) were fine, I didn’t have a lot to say about them. My gripes were certainly not in the same league as the Apache and Engineer. There wasn’t anything to differentiate them though - they were just Ok. I think on the AA gun they’re trying to stop it being “all purpose”, I’ll have a play with it and see. Overall I think a lot more work needs to go into ground vehicle control & feedback. They don’t feel enjoyable to operate as it stands
needless to say this is a sh!tshow. and the momemnt this thing will go on console if crossplay is enabled; it's gonna by farmville for us Xbox and PS players against PC players with hundreds of hours. this is the unbiased review i was expecting from you and you delivered beyond expectations. can't trust the dozens of small creators popping out left and right with "unpaid" reviews but similar language that seems teleprompted. or insiding news that looks like dev talking points. i'll stick to the not perfect BF2042 even tho im still a noob at it.
Thanks for the immensely kind words - I always try to call it honestly as I see it, as I don’t want people wasting their limited time…or at least, know what you’re going into. I for one shall be sticking on BF, only popping across to DF of friends pull me that way now and then. I’ll check in if they do anything major on patches. Cross play will be a massacre at first, but if there’s SBMM maybe that’ll spare people the worst of it! At least for the first few nights!
@@timelessgamer_UK i'm the one who asked you on your previous video if you were planning to play DF. because i knew you would give a fair and balanced input about it. the other creators are so bent to hurt BF2042 and Dice that they're willing to go over the very things you describe, or is it an incentive in the form of YT engagement or money i can't tell. but it's really difficult to find honest people speaking with their hearts and not wallet. keep it up
@@XavierAncarno yeah there's a lot of people looking for the clicks & endorsements, and I understand that. Hype sells. I mean I myself turned around a video in record time for me (4 days with work & family, it usually takes me 2 weeks from an 'idea' to fruition) because I didn't want to miss the launch weekend, but that doesn't affect what I'm going to say about the game. Got a lot of down votes on this one, mainly because ppl just seem to want to stick it to Dice (even if it's not rational or particularly productive for the next BF title). What can you do?
True, but a lot of the time Beta is representative of the final product. That’s why I said this now and not during Alpha. Just getting some thoughts out there on behalf of the Vehicle boys & girls 🫡
Great to hear Timeless' take on this title, I think seeing all this vehicle gameplay made me more hype for it than any other thing I've seen. Honestly I think Planetside 2 is still my favorite "model" for AA balance. The 1-man fighter with rocketpods (anti-vehicle loadout) will always lose against a same-skill AA player. But it felt fine because (A) the time to kill (TTK) wasn't very fast so unless you were _really_ out of position when they started firing you could always escape, and (B) you could always escape in any direction (which isn't always true in BF maps; not sure how DF compares); and also Planetside 2 was reasonably good at having air-cover to hide behind. It got more complicated with things like 3-man Bombers in PS2 (which really just beat everything. Honestly they're a bit stronger than I think they should be; they consistently shoot down AA-specialized fighters unless you have ~2 players and stay at longer range to fight the bomber). I still love Planetside's goofy flight model too (which has been this way since PS1), where you kinda fly it like a jet, but then when you get into a dogfight you usually want to slow to a near-stop and VTOL upwards with afterburners, which let's you sort of "fly backwards" via some crazy physics. It's only slightly weird in terms of realism, but honestly is one of the more skill-rewarding flight models out there. Anyway, enough off topic rambling. I suppose for DF they could go one of two routes: A. The BF route where you have more maneuverability, and air-cover is common enough that you often have a chance of directly engaging AA, OR B. The PS2 route, which _also_ requires a lot more maneuverability, good air-cover, and large air-out-of-bounds ranges, but you can't directly engage AA. (And ideally maps are designed so it's basically impossible to cover huge sections of the map with AA -- and the more AA allowed per team at once, the stricter these map design limits have to be....granted this is still somewhat true of option A too.)
I’ve got to check this out, will look on my lunch break - sounds great! Yeah I mean you need to suspend realism in favour of gameplay. There’s not a lot of fun to be had in a rocks paper scissors match up, you’ve got to let the players Joust - even if someone has the upper hand in the engagement. Certain death isn’t interesting!!
@@timelessgamer_UK The rock-paper-scissor thing depends on the specifics. There was almost never a time where you couldn't find an isolated target for your A2G fighter to shoot; either at that base (by repositioning and keeping in mind where the AA threats are, because they can't reposition as fast as you can), or by moving to another base (because PS2 takes place on enormous shared continents with each "base" being a bit like an entire Battlefield map). Also, rocketpods (the A2G weapon) do put serious hurt on Lightnings (the AA tank). It's just their TTK against you is considerably quicker than yours against them. I think the only change they made that I really disliked is removing "rear hits" for aircraft specifically (I think it might all be the same armor when it comes to A2G specifically). That's unfortunate, since you used to be able to take risky low flyby rocket shots and 1-magazine-kill main battle tanks, which was amazing (and if that guy knew you were lining it up and he was decent, he'd just tankshell your face, 1-shotting you, so it's not like it was _that_ important for them to remove it).
I'm an AC main in BF42 but I kinda prefer a wildcat being able to trump the choppers. That rock paper scissors of it all. It makes any wins against wildcats that much more satisfying. Honestly tho, it seems you just haven't gotten as good in DF as you are in BF at getting low for cover. Keep in mind I'm saying this as someone who's only watched DF. I have no idea how it feels in the hand. Edit: Thanks for addressing flying low. Now I understand how that's much more challenging a strategy in DF.
I’ve seen you fly in BF, I know you know your stuff - trust me, give it a try and you’ll see how damn hard it is to get any sort of performance out of the DF Apache. There’s so many frustrations! In terms of Wildcat power - I always prefer a little bit of “unreality” to let a game be a game. Sure an actual AA battery would annihilate anything that flies but we’re in a game - let the gamers Joust. The Wildcat since getting APS holds the upper hand, but at least us pilots are in with a shot if we can be good!
played yesterday Recon heli first time and statring to get a hang on it but 80% of the time when i peek cover i get locked on or beamed acrossed the whole map by a LAV sitting on the edge in their base
The NB plays better but is still extremely clunky. The AA is truly savage, I’ve been playing a lot since and I still hold there’s no way for a heli player whichever you pick to beat a LATV AA that’s being run by a player who’s awake. Like you I’d say I’ve got the hang of them but that’s more accepting their limits & working with them. I still hold this whole aspect of the game needs a tremendous rework, flying is just brutal if the other side is awake (or even only half asleep).
As a Battlefield player from Battlefield 2 and a vehicle enthusiast, I will express my opinion. First of all, helicopter fly model in Delta Force is the worst I've ever seen in a game. Battlefield 2042 had a worse fly model than BF4, but STILL 2042 crushes Delta Force in this aspect. Little Bird is slightly better than Apache but still quite poor. Model of driving ground vehicles is also very strange and not very pleasant, which you described well in video Another problem is lack of clarity when taking damage. In Battlefield, if something hits me, I can almost always tell from where it was. In Delta Force, most of the time I have no idea. Another one is stationary anti-tank and anti-aircraft cannons. I understood their addition in BF1 and V, but in a game set in modern times it doesn't make sense. There are already enough dangers for the driver/pilot (AA Tank and other ground vehicles, Stinger, shoulder rocket launcher, enemy helis, even good snipers, jets in the future). Adding another one is unnecessary and frustrating. I also think that projectile velocity is too fast. It's very easy to hit something even from a distance and vehicle player has practically no time to react. In general, I consider vehicles to be Delta Force's weak point. Game itself is quite good, but unfortunately it's not for people who like vehicles. The fact that hated Battlefield 2042 is much better at this proves something.
I think BFV is my favourite of the titles I’ve played, I’ve never seen anything before BF1. I found aerial gameplay truly horrific in DF, I try not to be too full on in video commentary but in the comments section I don’t mind calling it what I think it is - bloody awful. Ground vehicle play is at least tolerable if a little bit like driving on the moon. Whomever programmed the Helis need to be sat down and told to go back to the drawing board. The game itself just feels a bit bland to me, but it’s early days. I will give it a shot - especially extraction mode - but as it stands I can’t really see DF as more of a distraction from time to time versus something I can get into. The stationary AA guns in DF I found to be quite ineffective - thank God they didn’t copy BFV on that one!! We’d be cooked the second we appeared 😂
@@timelessgamer_UK even if they are ineffective, they are still some kind of threat. I had a situation when I barely destroyed AA tank in Apache and I was already retreating to reload flares and suddenly Im dead by stationary AA. Probably if I played longer, there would be more situations like this, but for now, its probably enough Delta Force for me.
Helicopters in this game are definitely the weakest part. The repair system for them is so frustrating. If you're low on health, landing is super risky because of how sensitive they are to fall damage. You have to be insanely careful just to land safely, and if an LAV-AA is firing at you from a distance, it’s basically game over. Plus, the repair system’s "trigger spots" are terrible like you can land right next to it, but unless you're perfectly on top of it, it won't even start repairing. And yeah, the Apache is so slow and just a sitting duck for Stingers and AA. If they made it faster, sped up the flare reload, or gave us 2-3 flares per reload, it’d be so much better.
I’d suggest that making the Apache faster / more responsive, and introducing cover in the maps (tall structures, multi storey buildings and natural terrain) would be what we need to even it up. Let us use skill to dodge shots / break line of sight. Right now it’s just too damn easy to take out an Apache
IMO on maps like trench, cracked and ascension the MBT with HE rounds (the kill AOE is the size of jupiter's gravity well the kill AOE is much larger than coastal guns) + HMG is insanely overpowered on both offense or defense. Sure you need 1 more round to kill the enemy MBT but it chews through infantry like crazy. Most of my 100 kill games have come on these maps due to how absolutely absurd the AOE nonsense is. Hell you can nuke entire squads in the ascension tunnels just blind firing into smoke its just stupid. They either need to tone down the HE ammo AOE damage or make the HE shell refill slower. PS: on the last defense point on ascension if u have an MBT you can easily waste 50-75 tickets locking down the main tunnel exit for 3-5mins. You dont even have to get all the kills just sit there and shoot HE shells into the tunnel and let your teammates clean up.
All valid points - the tunnels / choke points are savage. Love the Jupiter Gravity well analogy, that made me laugh 😁 There’s something else too - have you tried the 120mm MBT armour piercing rounds? God damn they’re fast / almost no drop, and on Trenches if you get up on the hill at one of the spawn sides that has it, you’ve got clear LoS straight into the opposition’s spawn. You can waste their armour before they even make it to Objective A / C2. This game needs a hell of a lot of work to iron out these issues.
@@timelessgamer_UK I used to run APFSDS but the HE rounds makes locking down capture points and attacking / counter attacking chokes so easy you are almost guaranteed the point even time u roll up to it with a hand full of half decent infantry Edit: What i like about HE ammo is due to how heavy the round is and as long as u know where the enemy armor is you can curve it over hills and objects to hit the enemy armor without ever exposing yourself.
I can’t see myself getting invested in a title where the vehicle play is so poor. Vehicles are the reason I ditched CoD and moved to be a BFer, but game series I’ve played since Titanfall
Let's see what BF6 brings -- I think Dice got the message from the community, even through I wasn't personally there for BF3/4. DF just ain't it, terrible controls. Feels like playing Superman64
on the apc thing, that assualt guy with the dash and c4 things were absolutely lethal against armoured stuff if i got 2 of them on a full battle tank it was dead, paired with the dash you could get right on top of a armoured vehicle and destroy it. i am unsure if the c4 got nerfed, or if its just that no one is using that character at the moment, its definitely a point to make that an assualt character has a better way to deal with armour than the engineer class, not saying the assualt cant have a good way to deal with it just saying that the engineer should have the option to be on par. not sure if you cover it in the video but something needs to be done about that bloody wheel gun. i was a vehicle player in bf5 but tanks and armourd died way too quick for them to be any fun in bf2042 unless you want to play like a bitch sitting at the back of the map.
I didn’t cover that Specialist as I was looking exclusively at Engineer. I only had very limited play time & didn’t want to rush. What I can say though is for the time I’ve been playing, I’ve not been rushed or C4’ed once. Guess word isn’t out about that yet - or nobody could get through all the smoke & gunsights on them to get anywhere near me 😅 I’ll keep an eye out for it
@@timelessgamer_UK hahaha yeah the game is still in its infancy, so we will see how people find new ways to beat things, in the alpha i seemed to be the only one rushing tanks with that c4 dash guy.
Great video as always! This game graphically looks alot better than 2042. Next battlefield needs to have this kinda look. The only thing keeping me from playing this is the kernel anticheat.
My Pro's: Bird feels better in DF than BF More visual clarity when in the air Cannot be sniped out of Helicopters My Con's: Adding a new layer of AA with stationary cannons/turrets AV damage too low compared to AA damage Helicopters are too slow, especially the Apache Too little terrain to avoid missiles Lock on range for Helicopters is too low Missiles/Bullets just disappear after a few hundred meters Damage to infantry is too low
Apologies for the belated reply & Merry Xmas, hope you’re having a good one! Definitely agree about the speed & lack of terrain, but I’m really most vexed about responsiveness of both aircraft, though especially the Apache. We’re still in the honeymoon phase of lobbies where there’s a lot of players unfamiliar / uninterested in aircraft, so you can get away with it and “kind of” have a good time. However the moment someone skilled in this department shows up, there’s too little you can do. If you’re in the Bird and I’m in the Apache and we’re both much and much the same as players, I’m done 100% of the time. In BF the odds are against me sure but I’ve got a shot to either fight back or run & get help. To me, it strips the enjoyment from what should be higher skilled encounters. I’ve been playing a lot more Bird as I just can’t stand the Apache as it is. I do have a better time with it, but I still find it clunky. I’m also a bit sad as an Engineer main I can’t fire launchers from the passenger seats, even if a nonsense it’s a lot of fun. Is it better than BF? Each to their own views, it’s Xmas after all 🎅 🎄 The additional AA is savage, especially when a good Wildcat player appears (whatever it’s called in this game). If a strong player wants me, and was patient enough to hold fire until getting close - I’m cooked. I miss the duel! It just stops me getting excited about the game, you know? I don’t want to hate on DF, I just want the balance & control to allow for those challenging fights I’ve come to love in 2042. Anyway, thanks for sharing your take - let me know how you get on & again, Merry Xmas and have a great one!
i havent spent any time in vehicles yet as they felt bad in the alpha. in bf2042 there was a way to setup “mouse aim” on helis that i believe silk used. is that a possibility in this game too?
@ i would be interested to know. i think we have to keep in mind that battlefield has had decades to get vehicles right with this being the first for these developers. not saying we go easy on them, they need to try and implement feedback on the vehicles for sure but it was never gojng to be perfect
@@jilesbraeden completely agree, and maybe (just maybe) this video will make it to someone who's in a position to consider it. Never know! I will say though that on a personal level (I don't bring my 'politics' into vids but I don't mind speaking freely in the comments section), I am not deeply impressed with the Devs' lack of originality. However we're still in Beta and there's a chance to fundamentally rethink a few things before the go-live. I would love them to convince me this will be more than an often poorly executed clone of 2042. Let's see. Vehicles would be a great place to start.
@ i agree with alot of the points in your video, so i also hope that it is seen and acted upon. in my honest opinion though with how “unoriginal” (not using the term to hate on delta its just the truth) delta force has been dosent exactly bode well for future, if delta force keeps along this path it will just be like battle bit, a moment in the spotlight, i believe battlefield 2042 could seize that moment to launch some big advertising and grab all the leaving delta force players after that spotlight is over. i will just follow the player base and find something fun in either of the games. time will tell, i just hope that either way i have a good battlefield game ( absolutely loved tanks in bf5 so far nothing has come close to that feeling )
totally fair in real life, but I'd suggest in the name of balance the game should allow players an opportunity to 'out-skill' their opponents. In real life an F35 / SU57 would obliterate absolutely everything on the field before anyone even saw or heard it (I'm no military guy but pretty sure that's how it works). They don't fly around chasing ppl with machine guns or hydr pods but damn it's fun we get to. Consider the change Dice made in nerfing the TOR railgun to stop it being a one-shot kill weapon or having projectiles mysteriously slow above a 6 degree elevation. It made the game better, because it gave opponents a shot at winning. I don't mind one unit having an upper hand over the other due to it's function, but 'certain failure' isn't good gameplay. Just my take.
Thoughts throughout the video: -this is 2042 with a darker color palette -delta force literally rips the most op flying clownshoe (night bird) and whoa, it’s still op -a condor in hover mode would give an attack chopper a run for it’s money in terms of getting from one spot to another quickly and efficiently -if you fly, everything wants to suck you off if you get close enough -apc nade launcher go brrrrrrr and looks like a nightmare to exist near -The lack of rpg makes me sad Conclusion: will probably play for a day or two when it eventually comes to series x. I can’t put my finger on it but it somehow feels like something from the early 2010s? Odd. Feels weird to say this after all we’ve dealt with but a game like this really shows how 2042 is actually a “good” game despite all the buggy piss on a day to day/update to update basis. As always, fantastic video and an appreciated honest insight 🎉
The key message of this video is DF isn’t a shadow of 2042 when it comes to vehicles or Engineer fun. It’s just an inferior product, and I am not impressed. Some will call me a Dice Shill but whatever - prove me wrong 😅
Many thanks and also Merry Xmas, hope you’re having a good one today! Look I can’t say DF is “bad” because it’s such a close relative of BF, I’m not a great gamer / the fastest learner, but me and the guys just slotted straight in there with only the most minimal of learning curves. Honestly, most of what we learnt re: Vehicle & Engineer play is what you can’t carry over from BF (can’t shoot out of the passenger side of Helis, can’t shoot whilst using a parachute etc) plus the handling discussed in this vid. It’s not “bad” at all, and if BF didn’t exist I’d be falling off may chair at how good this game is vs CoD. Know what I mean? Honest question and I mean this most sincerely - have you found one thing in DF you can do, that you can’t in BF? I genuinely haven’t yet. Let me know!
My interest in this game solely remains in how badly will they copy 2042 further. Because nothing would be funnier than seeing them add Pondhawk-like vehicle with the same god awful heli controls
On the face of it agree - I will explore the Extraction mode but otherwise why play this? Cheap copy of something which is £4.99 on sale. Season 7 BF2042 and BFV bury this game. But, I wanted to see for myself!
Calm down bro, being that I am a battlefield bad company2 , and BF3 and 4 veteran I know battlefield tried to make the franchise suitable for COD players. That’s one of reasons the franchise sucks now. If delta force“steals” from battlefield but ultimately does a better job than DICE at making gameplay feel like old BF, I would be very happy. DICE have lost their way and I’m so glad that delta force might be the game that brings me back to this style of franchise.
It’s all good - I came in at 2042 and have worked my way back to BFV (best in the franchise I’ve personally played) and BF1. Before that I was CoD, just outlining that so you know where I’ve come from / I didn’t play BF4 or earlier. Delta Force fell victim to the Hype Train. I’ve been playing more since 28th Dec (Xmas and NY is family time, I’m away from my gaming setup) and whilst I’m working out it’s subtleties / nuances, I hold to my overall verdict. As a vehicle / engineer enthusiast (I didn’t say pro and never will, just your average Gamer after work guy over here), I just see 2042 less well executed. That’s it. The game is no better or worse than that. Sure it’s at the start of its run whereas 2042 has had 3 years to get to the pretty good state it’s in now (and it is in a good state - perhaps not up to earlier titles but in no universe can 2042 as it stands today be called a technically bad game), so let’s see what it does. To the point Dice is losing its way, I think they’ve learnt from 2042 to drop the specialists etc and I’m personally sad 128 is going to go. I don’t defend how 2042 launched (even with the Pandemic excuse) but having seen and played a lot of BFV and BF1? I still believe in Dice. There’s no way to make a game which will please everyone (near future, modern, historical - whichever you pick someone will be pissed off) and the eternal arguments of air power balance will continue I’m sure. DF is a good distraction, but I’m just waiting for the next BF from Dice to push it forward. Team Jade are an entertaining copy and paste, but that’s all. Chinese Games studios are capable of amazing things (just look at Wu Kong), but this one? Pretty clear what they’re doing.
@@timelessgamer_UKhey bro, I appreciate your response. I see why you may have more faith being you are fairly new to games made by DICE. I played battlefield consistently for over 12 years bro, and after BF4 I gave up. It would take too long to explain my reasons, but I’m glad that there is a new dev team in the mix. I have watched your video and I appreciate your points because they are all true and valid, but I still Hate DICE for what they did to us veterans and I’ll never forgive or forget how they betrayed us long ago with BFV. BF2042 I was hopeful but after playing it for a week I knew DICE did not care about how battlefield used to be like in the Old days. It’s hard for me to explain it to you bro if you have never played bad company or BF3 and 4. I’m hoping delta force will grow into a true rival for BF.
the IFV with the tow and armor piercing rounds is kinda OP. It just absolutely melts everything and it's still really good vs infy especially because it cycles ammo pool quicker so you're not running out like you do with the HE rounds
I’ll have to try it out. I ran a few games of DF since the Beta but it’s just not really sticking for me. I’ll try to give it more time over the holidays
@@timelessgamer_UK yeah I only can play armor to have fun it it. It's just not very well polished. Just remember though if you do give the AP shells a try in the IFV there's little to no splash so you have to direct hit Infy to do damage. That said it's a 2 shot most the time
Engineer Infantey AA launcher so useless againist air because flares takes so long. you dont have time to locked in target because it delay more than 30 seconds. you will be dead any sec ond.
Really? That’s not been my experience (sincerely). I looked over some gameplay recordings this morning to see if I had missed this, but it seems wholly in line with BF timings? What am I missing?
No, I would have preferred it was a completely unique game that stood alone -- or at the very least had some stand-alone defining gameplay. From a vehicle / engineer perspective all I see is Battlefield Lite, and I hope they can take a look at that & try to set DF apart. Fixing some of the fundamentals of vehicle balance would be a good start.
The Nightbird imbalance is even more pronounced in DF. Almost nothing which can stop it except another Nightbird. Reaaaaally frustrating… I turned to the dark side for a few rounds but hated myself afterwards
Any video which expresses a view will attract thumbs down. Just goes with the territory. For some, the moment I suggested 2042 might not be so bad after all? I probably lost them. Equally when I suggested DF might be IP infringement - bet a few ppl probably slapped thumbs down right there and then. What can you do?
Thanks man - I just shouted out what I see as the most pressing issues to resolve & that despite what others might be trying to tell us, DF is a poor copy in these areas. Team Jade have just poorly executed a BF2042 clone. It’s right there for all to see.
Pretty much. Don’t see the value proposition of the game to be honest. Aside from the better in menus music I’m at a bit of a loss for why I’d continue to play this
@ also I think one of the biggest things is the lack of any transport or support vehicles, battlefield has a variety between the MAV, Gunship, Condor etc. I think that invites more sandbox like gameplay which is missing in DF all together, it just didn’t feel the same at all for me personally.
totally agree!!!! Helis in this game are so slow and with so bad flying physics and vs to this INSANELY OP AA tank they are so weak. Not even close to Battlefield helis and vehicles. They need to put a looooooooooot of work if they wnat to compete bf.
Amen. I tried again the other day, there’s just no way around Heli play is a mile off BF as it stands. It’s not a question of practice, needs a hell of a lot of work
Man, when you are switching between games in your clips sometimes it takes my brain a second to figure out which game I am looking at, especially when you show Nightbird gameplay. It's kind of crazy how similar Delta force is compared to 2042. I'm excited to see where it goes, and I hope it improves. (And forces DICE to get the next BF game to release more polished)
For me the game was pretty hard to read, and it led me to get frustrated quite quickly.
What’s interesting is the NB in DF doesn’t seem to have this issue…
yeah... did you know the helicopter rockets just despawn if you try to shoot over longer range?.. awesome
I had no idea 😅
@@timelessgamer_UK i thought it was a render issue at first. but no i see them fly directly towards a huge group of people and just stop existing. if it was a render issue i would have gotten at least some hits or something to indicate it did hit. but no they just *poof* out of this world.
i think they added a range to those projectiles, apache has a longer range compared to the bird heli
Good point! I was too focused on how banal the gameplay was…
2042 at least has 5 pairs of vehicles that are different for each faction (MBT, 3 Helis and Jets)
DF only has worse versions of some US vehicles and other copycats.
That would have been a fantastic take on the tank hunter experience - I didn’t even think of that.
@@timelessgamer_UK And the "balance" is that while you are hovering behind the obstacle you are a stationary target.
I just googled what the Vortex Ring State is - learn something every day!
you could never fly low on a match with me playing a tank. i would just righout shot you down. yeah i feelt the drag down the hard way. i just was: "in reallife that could actually happen "
I’d cheer you if you did - everyone likes a good shot. My problem with the downward drag is the inconsistency & it makes taking cover nearly impossible. It also means we’re always going to be flying high, so tank players will never get their shot!
This video is what I've been waiting for. Vehicle and engineer pros getting some good hands on in this game.
Thanks - the hours are clearly paying off! They’re probably my favourite thing about the game. Way better in the Jet these days too
7:50 🖐I'm only here for the Humvee squad wipe
Poetic moment
Relax, the game is only in beta. Cant complain before full release !
I suppose for DF they could go one of two routes:
A. The BF route where you have more maneuverability, and air-cover is common enough that you often have a chance of directly engaging AA, OR
Model of driving ground vehicles is also very strange and not very pleasant, which you described well in video
Another problem is lack of clarity when taking damage.
Love the Jupiter Gravity well analogy, that made me laugh 😁
There’s something else too - have you tried the 120mm MBT armour piercing rounds? God damn they’re fast / almost no drop, and on Trenches if you get up on the hill at one of the spawn sides that has it, you’ve got clear LoS straight into the opposition’s spawn. You can waste their armour before they even make it to Objective A / C2. This game needs a hell of a lot of work to iron out these issues.
@@timelessgamer_UK I used to run APFSDS but the HE rounds makes locking down capture points and attacking / counter attacking chokes so easy you are almost guaranteed the point even time u roll up to it with a hand full of half decent infantry
Edit: What i like about HE ammo is due to how heavy the round is and as long as u know where the enemy armor is you can curve it over hills and objects to hit the enemy armor without ever exposing yourself.
as a bf4 vehicle player im 100% agree with you
I can’t see myself getting invested in a title where the vehicle play is so poor. Vehicles are the reason I ditched CoD and moved to be a BFer, but game series I’ve played since Titanfall
Can we just have bf3/bf4 air vehicles controls again?
Let's see what BF6 brings -- I think Dice got the message from the community, even through I wasn't personally there for BF3/4. DF just ain't it, terrible controls. Feels like playing Superman64
@timelessgamer_UK LMAO superman 64😂😂.
Hell, BF Vietnam even
on the apc thing, that assualt guy with the dash and c4 things were absolutely lethal against armoured stuff if i got 2 of them on a full battle tank it was dead, paired with the dash you could get right on top of a armoured vehicle and destroy it. i am unsure if the c4 got nerfed, or if its just that no one is using that character at the moment, its definitely a point to make that an assualt character has a better way to deal with armour than the engineer class, not saying the assualt cant have a good way to deal with it just saying that the engineer should have the option to be on par. not sure if you cover it in the video but something needs to be done about that bloody wheel gun.
i was a vehicle player in bf5 but tanks and armourd died way too quick for them to be any fun in bf2042 unless you want to play like a bitch sitting at the back of the map.
I didn’t cover that Specialist as I was looking exclusively at Engineer. I only had very limited play time & didn’t want to rush. What I can say though is for the time I’ve been playing, I’ve not been rushed or C4’ed once. Guess word isn’t out about that yet - or nobody could get through all the smoke & gunsights on them to get anywhere near me 😅
I’ll keep an eye out for it
@@timelessgamer_UK hahaha yeah the game is still in its infancy, so we will see how people find new ways to beat things, in the alpha i seemed to be the only one rushing tanks with that c4 dash guy.
Great video as always! This game graphically looks alot better than 2042. Next battlefield needs to have this kinda look. The only thing keeping me from playing this is the kernel anticheat.

My Pro's:
Bird feels better in DF than BF
More visual clarity when in the air
Cannot be sniped out of Helicopters
My Con's:
Adding a new layer of AA with stationary cannons/turrets
AV damage too low compared to AA damage
Helicopters are too slow, especially the Apache
Too little terrain to avoid missiles
Lock on range for Helicopters is too low
Missiles/Bullets just disappear after a few hundred meters
Damage to infantry is too low
Each to their own views, it’s Xmas after all 🎅 🎄
The additional AA is savage, especially when a good Wildcat player appears (whatever it’s called in this game).
I don't think that's the issue -- but I can give it a look and let you know privately if I found any settings which might help.
@
i agree with alot of the points in your video, so i also hope that it is seen and acted upon. in my honest opinion though with how “unoriginal” (not using the term to hate on delta its just the truth) delta force has been dosent exactly bode well for future, if delta force keeps along this path it will just be like battle bit, a moment in the spotlight, i believe battlefield 2042 could seize that moment to launch some big advertising and grab all the leaving delta force players after that spotlight is over. i will just follow the player base and find something fun in either of the games. time will tell, i just hope that either way i have a good battlefield game ( absolutely loved tanks in bf5 so far nothing has come close to that feeling )
I am 10,000,000% with you about BFV tanks. Absolutely the best. I made a few vids but ppl didn’t seem interested, but I still rock them all the time
i mean helis are more sluggish as they should be and dont stand a chance against AA. sounds like how it should be.
totally fair in real life, but I'd suggest in the name of balance the game should allow players an opportunity to 'out-skill' their opponents.
Thoughts throughout the video:
-this is 2042 with a darker color palette
-delta force literally rips the most op flying clownshoe (night bird) and whoa, it’s still op
-a condor in hover mode would give an attack chopper a run for it’s money in terms of getting from one spot to another quickly and efficiently
-if you fly, everything wants to suck you off if you get close enough
-apc nade launcher go brrrrrrr and looks like a nightmare to exist near
-The lack of rpg makes me sad
Conclusion: will probably play for a day or two when it eventually comes to series x. I can’t put my finger on it but it somehow feels like something from the early 2010s? Odd.
Feels weird to say this after all we’ve dealt with but a game like this really shows how 2042 is actually a “good” game despite all the buggy piss on a day to day/update to update basis.
As always, fantastic video and an appreciated honest insight 🎉
lol i could not agree more with the first statement
The key message of this video is DF isn’t a shadow of 2042 when it comes to vehicles or Engineer fun. It’s just an inferior product, and I am not impressed. Some will call me a Dice Shill but whatever - prove me wrong 😅
@@timelessgamer_UKThen call me a dice shill as well, I’ll take 2042 over the mobile phone equivalent of it any day :p
bruh this game is good, but no chance against BF. and also i like your posts too. keep it up.
Yeah I mean it’s not a very good attempt at disguising copying someone else’s homework is it
I’ll shit my hat if they patch in a pondy and an rpg in one go
I’ll make a bet with you now, mark this comment - they’ll do it. They’ll f*ing do it 😅
@@timelessgamer_UK We shall see
Bro why would they do this? It looks almost identical.
They didn’t try too hard to disguise what’s going on, did they 😅
I see zero reason to play this when BF games are so cheap that they're virtually free.
On the face of it agree - I will explore the Extraction mode but otherwise why play this? Cheap copy of something which is £4.99 on sale. Season 7 BF2042 and BFV bury this game. But, I wanted to see for myself!
So you’re saying that if I’m terrible at _Battlefield…_ I’ll also be horrible at THIS game? 👀😂
I’m afraid so! The DNA is 99.99r identical
Don’t rate Delta Force. I’ll stick to BF.
Get that
I don’t rate battlefield. But it’s good for gamers that battlefield now has a competitor will see the benefit of the competition
So basicaly you want DF to be indentical to BF thats right?? 😂
No, I would have preferred it was a completely unique game that stood alone -- or at the very least had some stand-alone defining gameplay. From a vehicle / engineer perspective all I see is Battlefield Lite, and I hope they can take a look at that & try to set DF apart. Fixing some of the fundamentals of vehicle balance would be a good start.
good lets keep the night bird tryhards on battlefield.
The Nightbird imbalance is even more pronounced in DF. Almost nothing which can stop it except another Nightbird. Reaaaaally frustrating… I turned to the dark side for a few rounds but hated myself afterwards
D wolf ult could out run the attack in a foot race lmao
So how many ppl hating on this vid because you dared to say battlefield isn’t so bad after all? 🤪
Nah, battlefield is bad asf, df is just worse.
You perfectly explained all the problems with vehicles that I have, such a shame that all of the vehicles are just cheap copy from 2042
Thanks man - I just shouted out what I see as the most pressing issues to resolve & that despite what others might be trying to tell us, DF is a poor copy in these areas. Team Jade have just poorly executed a BF2042 clone. It’s right there for all to see.
its an hard copy lol
Pretty much. Don’t see the value proposition of the game to be honest. Aside from the better in menus music I’m at a bit of a loss for why I’d continue to play this
Delta force is abysmal for any vehicle play, I cant stand it.
Inclined to agree. Some have been saying I’m too hard on Tank play, but I’m not seeing it. Will give it the college try, though I remain doubtful
It’s not a question of practice, needs a hell of a lot of work
Good review thanks
Me after seeing the thumbnail text : ahhhh how to fix my life 🥲💀
