This girl has the best support the industry has to offer from Republic Records/Universal Music Group, and a special thanks to Rob Christie, AJ's genius A&R person at RR, and Stargate Production Co. (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sam Smith). When you combine those attributes with the Angelina Jordan's unequalled talent and the support and love from her remarkable family how could she not be the greatest signature storytelling vocalist of all time?

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Good morning, Vanessa. For Angelina Jordan, it is all about the story. So she took the bridge for her start and with great compassion for everyone in the story, she lays it bare. The truth. Not hidden under the party vibe. Sung more like the original writer of the song intended. Have you seen Angelina's newly released original? "Love Don't Let Me Go." Go for it. Grandma Ellen, off to breakfast.

True. I have never heard about her working with a vocal coach daily. From what I’ve read and heard she is primarily self taught. She had worked with vocal teachers at her school program but from what I’ve read it was mainly to provide techniques to protect her voice. I also read that by the time she was 10 they said there was nothing more to teach her because she was so far advanced. Her mother apparently didn’t want her to work with a coach because she was afraid they would try to change her style.
A lot of her vocal education came from studying the singing greats on RUclips as early as 3 years old.

    Tiny Little Girl
Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice was 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will be dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and the need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us. Angelina Jordan is in fact the "Benchmark" for all other vocalist to try as they might to achieve. I have a number of pictures of celebrities whose height is known, for example, Austin Butler, who played Elvis, is 6ft tall, and AJ published a picture of her standing next to him, she was at least 1 inch taller than him, and she had to look down at him.

Pavlov's Dogs or Angelina's Angels? Angelina is a beautiful young woman with an ability to reach into the innermost depths of your mind on a level with what is known as a "shaman". AJ makes one feel her words and sounds. In the past we may have felt a similar sensation with maybe one song from an artist, but AJ encompasses the ability to conjure up this sensation with every performance. There is a synergy between her looks, sounds, and gestures, and her abilities to activate your senses, therefore; just seeing a picture of her is enough to bring tears to one’s eyes, we are indeed, Angelina's Angels.

Vanessa, you brought up a question that Angelina evokes from many of us, "What am I doing with my life?" She has that effect because she is so clear about what her life's goal is (paraphrased): "To bring love to the world through my music".
We might then want to ask ourselves, "What is my life's goal?"
Who knows where that may lead?

    Rob Christie Playing Piano:
That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, three years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ's Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.

Thank you for returning to Angelina. Your reactions to her performances are always worth watching.
The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song.
The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family.
Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

Every time she interprets a song by stripping it in her own way, she seems to simultaneously increase the level of understanding of the lyrics and amplify their expressive power. Angelina's musical vision transcends the ordinary and she always manages to give a different interpretative reading, she really has a musical knowledge and analytical ability that is beyond my understanding, also considering her age. Her phrasing, underpinned by her wonderful use of breath and her jazzy vision, always fascinates me and gives me chills every time, despite having listened to it hundreds of times. 💛🧡❤

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 83 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.

    My thoughts on this,
Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Power & Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes.
I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on YOU Tube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani.
She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. ♥👣👸🏻

Great reaction. I'd love to see your reaction to Angelina's most recent release with Republic Records that was just posted on the 5th this month. The title is "Love don't let me go" and it really shows off Angelina's signature sound and genre that she has created (Jazz Pop some people call it). I thought she was going to sing Back to Black with that beehive hairstyle.😂

Considering how much she loves Amy I'm sure we'll see that one day, with the original lyrics.

Why? This hairstyle is a homage to Priscilla Presley..nothing to do with Amy Winehouse RIP. The guitar is a copy Hagstrom from Elvis’s come back tour as is the leather jump suit..note the pianist in red? He’s Rob Christie, Aj’s mentor, and he’s dressed in the same colour red that Elvis’s backing group wore in the 68 come back tour..nothing to do with AW.

I don’t disagree that she practices endlessly. But vocal training and coaching, not so much. She’s a natural talent. Did she possibly learn some breathing techniques along the way, maybe, possibly. Did she get some tips on how to safeguard her voice, maybe. But hours of vocal training and coaching, not buying it without confirmation from someone in the know. She didn’t need it, she was born with it.

Thanks for your comment. I don’t think i said she practices vocal exercises for hours, just printing out that even the most naturally talented and gifted singers still work on their craft.😀🎤

Technically, Mark James wrote it and was the original singer. His version didn't do well, Elvis heard it, upped the tempo and it became a hit for him.

Many assume that Elvis was the original singer since he had the big hit but it’s actually a cover.
Just like most assume that the Righteous Brothers version of Unchained Melody is the original when actually it had been around for 10 years.

With due respect, given all the equipment in the background, one would think that you would know how to record sound. You sound like you are talking in a tin can. It would be better if you fixed it for your own credibility.

ANGELINA JORDAN IS THE TRUTH! Actually the song was written by Elvis's friend he was going through a difficult with his wife, so he wrote this song and Elvis sang it his way, but it was supposed to be sung just like ANGELINA SANG it, it's a sad song from a husband to his wife.ok.. ANGELINA JORDAN IS THE WHOLE TRUTH. 🥰💕🥰💕🥰🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

I’m not sure if the writer Mike James was actually a friend of Elvis. Don Crews, a friend of one of Elvis’ producers, asked James if he had any songs that would be good for Elvis. James suggested Suspicious Minds.
